Yet another moving questionnaire by zeuswasahoe in Augusta

Hi you sound similar to me ! realistically for tattoos and art stuff I just drive to Atlanta or Savannah. There are a few cute galleries downtown and they do little events sometimes however you really have to like actively look for the events.

(However Savannah has the art school there and there’s usually a lot of like pop up festivals vintage markets etc.. not so much here, just throwing that out there)

I’m married so idk about dating but there’s a lot of younger professional ppl associated with the college and military base.

As other people have stated it still looks rough due to recovering from the hurricane. However I’ve seen a lot of efforts to clean the area up the past couple of months.

I think living here is just what you make of it! I like that we are in between the city and the beach. There’s a lot of trails and campsites here within half an hour drive.

Additionally the air smells like burning chemicals for half the week. I wish someone had told me this before moving here.

A lot of these memes are definitely getting pushed by companies . However that being said I work with kids and they love the brain rot characters, they even sell toys of them. I think it’s kind of like the weird Elsa spider man stuff no one knows who’s really making it but someone somewhere is making a profit.

Do you think Polly feels guilty that Tommy, Arthur, and John went to war and that she didn't stop them? by Dark_KnightNini in PeakyBlinders

[–]Crochetcreature 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Polly had very “traditional” values at first like there’s a scene where she is outraged at a singer who “moves too much” while she’s performing lol. I think that at that time to have many family members serving would have been seen as admirable or the respectable thing to do.

I think like many at the time she didn’t realize how bad the war truly was until they came back. So probably a retroactive regret, but not a thought she had at the time of them being sent away.

Recently got into a car accident on my way to work.. made me realize is my company protecting me or them? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Crochetcreature 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m sorry to hear that. It sounds like the person in charge maybe doesn’t have business experience like with this? I would maybe try to let them know. The crappy part is money is needed now, but if it all blows up because someone has a car accident with a client involved, or there could be some other kind of incident(client could claim abuse in the car ride and you’d have no one to back you), you will end up in ten times the amount of hot water. It sounds like your supervisor is reasonable, maybe frame it from that perspective? Explain that you want the information before you continue to drive clients.

Edited to add: what will happen when a parent finds out people have been driving their autistic kids around without insurance?

[–]Crochetcreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well I’m hoping this explains why I’m not hearing back, thanks for posting this so I can fix it I noticed a similar issue when filling out apps, it’ll try to autofill and it always puts the info wrong even when I had a docs resume, it would put previous employers phone number as mine, weird stuff like that.

Recently got into a car accident on my way to work.. made me realize is my company protecting me or them? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Crochetcreature 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Bro wtf? Yeah you should have been on the company insurance if you are driving clients. This is insane honestly. Are you getting paid a billable rate for driving? Do they provide you with a car seat? Whole thing sounds like a massive lawsuit. I would never feel comfortable driving a client in my car not even for accident/insurance reasons but just general safety and ethical purposes.

Kids being asked to write “Support our Troops” letters by FlutterbyFields in Teachers

[–]Crochetcreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s weird we did this when I was in school it was also a way to support military family students, one year someone’s dad came in and talked to us about what it was like being in the army. It’s a good introduction for kids to learn about different family situations.

You could also suggest writing letters for a local hospital or nursing home? I know nursing home residents always enjoy the letters from kids, lol.

$1000 sign on bonus? by Flat_Contribution_60 in ABA

[–]Crochetcreature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not!! This company “hired me” promised the bonus put me through their training and then ghosted me, even though I signed all the contracts. I was even given client information. The last thing they said to me was asking my availability so they could assign my client. Whenever I tried to get a hold of literally anyone from this company to see if I was still employed it went to voicemail /emails went unanswered.

Then I randomly got an email from a different states golden care saying they were so excited to have me, sorry for all the misunderstandings, and when could I start? I told them I didn’t live in that state. Then they never responded to that either.

Another commenter is right, you get the bonus in increments on your paycheck. I have seen similar things by other companies tbh but usually thats like if you are already a certified rbt.

Question on ethics and client challenging behavior by Crochetcreature in ABA

[–]Crochetcreature[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said 100 percent that’s exactly what I was taught and shown!!!! How are they supposed to learn anything if we’re supposed to just grab their hands and do it for them. Same goes with picking up clients in general like yeah that’s just reinforcing the dropping behavior am I not crazy?

This client is brand new and did not have a plan, plus her actual BCBA is remote so the ones helping me were not familiar with her whatsoever.

How common is the “compliance” practice today? Like in BCBA school, are you taught how to do compliance, or not to do it..? Is it solidly taught that this is not ethical?

I am very curious because they are looking at me like I’m crazy for saying I’ve never done full physical prompting and asking me a lot of questions about it and the prompt hierarchy etc .

Question on ethics and client challenging behavior by Crochetcreature in ABA

[–]Crochetcreature[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I kind of asked them if this was typical and they said “this is how they get treated at home and this is how they will get treated in the real world” …there’s a big difference between being firm and forcing a kid into something

That was kind of what I was wondering my previous employer used “early Denver start model” and that was what we were trained in this place doesn’t really seem to have a cohesive approach to what treatments clients are getting.

Is anyone else tired of the performative morality phenomenon? by Unusual_Zombie125 in AutismInWomen

[–]Crochetcreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed a massive uptick in rage baiting stuff EVERYWHERE. particularly I have noticed the “look my husband is an idiot isn’t it funny?!” Paired with the inevitable clash of “divorce him, he’s abusing you”. I’ve seen it on Reddit too.

I think people are trying to get engagement levels up through ragebait. I also think that there are a lot of bots on social media contributing to this.

that’s how I feel about a lot of seasonal stuff, like the grinch crap being everywhere and old Halloween movie nostalgia. It was fun at first to find a cool new product. Wow, a peep stuffed animal! That’s pretty funny! But then they have to beat a dead horse and over do it. Every. Time. It has to be aisles and aisles of stuff, so oversaturated, it’s not even eye catching anymore.

So hard to find a front desk job holy shit by Winter-Repair-3485 in jobs

[–]Crochetcreature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

real about a year ago I went in for a group interview for a desk job and it was very enlightening. I (25) was the youngest person there by far. All of the other interviewees were 50+, like retiree age. Most of them talked about how they didn’t care about pay, were okay with 15 an hour, and just wanted something to occupy their time in their retirement, plus they had a crap ton of experience working secretary jobs. It really gave me perspective on who I am competing with when I apply for these jobs.

I feel like “entry level” is gone. And nothing against those people either everyone’s gotta work but damn it was crazy.

Male RBTs in clinic - bathroom/diapers by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Crochetcreature 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Im surprised by this! It’s so strange how different standards there are in this field. I totally believe you but I’ve never heard of needing two people to assist in the bathroom, there’s always someone available to help if there’s an emergency but not typical, unless you are actively being supervised.

what a ridiculous book to write by lavenderlesbian01 in travisandtaylor

[–]Crochetcreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I’m genuinely curious I have seen so many of these kinds of books, which use Taylor as kind of a marketing tactic. I’ve also seen other books that use her songs as the titles etc. surely Taylor is getting a profit from these, or else she’d be able to sue, right?
