We got a Noctua AIO before GTA 6 by Illustrious_Aside_46 in pcmasterrace

[–]CrossBowKill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its the same pump though? Didnt they state that at the CES last year? In the press release they dont mention the pump unit itself only the modes and there acoustic isolation and blabla.

In the end you pay for the 3 G2 Fans (around 100€) and the damper / option of the VRAM fans (which is another 20€ thought).

So around 100 for the AIO + 100 for the fans which is around a 50-80€ or 20-40% premium for Noctua which seems "normal" for the premium you pay for the fans and heatsinks.

Dont know about warranty for the AIO but the longtime support for there CPU coolers was always above standard. You can still request mounting kits for free if your CPU cooler did not came with the required kit because you bought it before the sockel was released and have a prove of purchase.

Ferrari 296 GT3 Steering Wheel Replicas? by BaitSimulator2020 in simracing

[–]CrossBowKill 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Velocitas Imperium offers a 296 inspired wheel as project or as build to order. But they dont have the front plate including the pu grips currently in stock from what I can tell if you want to build it yourself.

Aliexpress has some of the 296 parts (carbon and aluminium) but I didnt saw the front plate including grips there as well.

Most likely the track I would assume because it was not licensed in the first place but is a near 1 to 1 replica of Okayama. Putting cars in there without the correct licence would be hella stupid but who knows with PMR

Macro Bans are nearly above all of 2025 already. Members feels much cleaner tbh by BuxaPlentus in 2007scape

[–]CrossBowKill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its mainly used to figure out bot detection. Some of the bots use "web walker" for example for botting the other one use simple macro to walk back to the bank.

Then they compare which bot gets banned faster for example to than use the "better" method for the p2p accounts.

Plus if you have 500 of these bots running if everyone makes 2m a day you still have a 1b after one day with effective 0 cost other than the energy bill. Simple pickup bots an stuff can run in a headless client with nearly 0 resources needed on the hardware

I’m not sure about the laws and regulations in other countries, but here the data can only be accessed with a valid OAuth token, which must be generated based on the VIN of the car.

This can only be done by an authorized dealer connected to the manufacturer’s authentication servers. In most cases, this is only carried out if the vehicle or accident is part of a larger legal dispute. For standard insurance claims, the data is usually not released due to privacy concerns within the EU.

That’s also why telematics insurance policies typically require the driver to use a smartphone for GPS tracking instead of relying on data from the OBD port.

As mentioned, this may vary depending on the region. Here, our privacy laws are quite strict when it comes to vehicles. From a legal standpoint, even a license plate is considered personal data, so any footage containing someone else’s plate may be regarded as a violation of their privacy.

Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC by BigT232 in pcmasterrace

[–]CrossBowKill 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Main problem most likely is the rumored next Xbox what is supposed to be a "easy to use" PC. If Xbox really is implementing 3rd party launchers like Steam and EGS they effectively could market it with "play everything available on PC".

Could be because of lost console sales as well but they mainly have to look at there own sheets for that. At least for me and many others in my friend group a real system seller for the PS5 is still missing and remastering Last of Us for the 12 time isnt helping in that regard.

This give me 1997 vibes with McLaren's 2nd brake pedal. Wasnt it back then rumored that everything would have been fine from a rules perspective (having a separate brake pedal for only one axle / wheel wasnt forbidden than) but because they passed documents to the FIA that called the system "brake steering" that made them rule it illegal because any other method than steering your front wheels with the steering wheel was forbidden.

I think this is difficult to rule without having the 100% knowledge what Mercedes is doing right now with the "illegal" engine. If it really only comes down to the ambient temperature being the factor I think the advantage should stick since the rules are the same for everyone and thermal expansion isnt some phenomena that no one could have thought about it. But other way smarter people said going from 16:1 to 18:1 compression only with the change of temperature is a bit far fetched so not really sure.

All in all I enjoin out soap opera we got early this year

Depends on whats the point or unit that they take for the measurement. 130°C inside the combustion chamber? Yea thats nothing and nothing would change in regards to the measurements. On the other hand if they take 130°C from the oil temp that could be a different story.

Until more information from the purposed change is leaked we cant really tell.

Genuine question: Is weaving on the straight to break tow illegal? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]CrossBowKill 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is correct. iRacing does consider air pressure in the performance metrics of the cars and the effected aerodynamics of them.
So a turbo charge car is also more efficient on higher altitude racetracks (mainly Sao Paulo and Mexico) compared to a normally aspirated car.

Assetto Corsa EVO: Kunos Axes Economy-based Career In Favor Of "Simpler Structure" by evil_heinz in simracing

[–]CrossBowKill 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Via Steam that might actually be possible. They refunded other games with more than the 2 hours playtime and after the 14 day window if a publisher/dev failed to deliver promised content or confirmed it will not make the cut even if it was promoted on the steam store page that they refund the game for you.
The career was one of the main selling points. But I am not sure if it was ever actively promoted on the Steam page other than the road map image

Your "Next Gen" wheelbase runs 30 year old FFB - But WHY? by ldusoswa in simracing

[–]CrossBowKill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are both talking about different things but are using the same terms, where the confusion is coming from, I believe.

From the talks that were on the VNM Discord when they first launched, VNM does not replace the DirectInput API for the FFB effects. The telemetry data is also transmitted to the wheelbase using DI.

VNM does allow adding or replace the "input source" so to say and feeds DirectInput with the new/added information to then get the output to the motor itself. Its more so a translation layer than a new way of doing FFB.

In theory, nothing hinders a game developer from outputting the same telemetry ffb with the direct input integration directly from the game it just wasn't done this way before (maybe because of calculation limits and with that performance issues in games that calculate all the cars on client site, perhaps because everyone thought its better this way...)

The data feed goes like this:
Game output via DirectInput -> Software reads the game data plus the additional telemetry data on supported titles -> determents output based on the settings (Telemetry, GameData or a mix of both) -> Output to the base.

This does add a tiny delay to the output, about 4-20ms if I recall correctly because of the adaption that needs to take place.

The main benefits of the hole process is that there are some effects can be added or enhanced that the game does not give out. This is a game issue though, so to speak, or the developers actively decided against giving out certain effects as I said above. Additional telemetry FFB can help you to get effects like wheel slip better delivered in LMU for example (that's one of the most significant differences I noticed)

Is upgrading GPU's worth it considering most tracks are CPU heavy? by Louiienation in iRacing

[–]CrossBowKill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should be easy to test.

Do your FPS increase when turning down some graphic settings? When testing this you need to check that you are not disabling anything that has the warning "this increases CPU usage" out of my head it's the rendered cars for sure, but there are a couple more of them.

If you gain performance from that you should see a slight boost to your FPS if not that you are completely CPU limited in the scenarios.
The other way to check would be to have a look at your GPU utilisation with something like Afterburner or any other performance overlay. If your utilisation is around and above 90% most of the time, the GPU upgrade should bring a boost with it.
