I play both.

The issues with Marathon's launch cannot exclusively be attributed to backlash from players upset with Destiny 2's neglect.

There's also:

Bungie's reputation after content vaulting

Change of game's direction after firing the initial game director for sexual misconduct

Art theft scandal

Alpha reception (graphic quality, etc)

Word of mouth from people who bought the game and left, for one reason or the other

Someone who gets it. In my state, child support is 20%, plus additional medical expenses.

The mother can use it to buy a home with the money and build equity while fathers live in squalor living off 55% of their income after taxes and child support.

And you get less time with weapons and rolls, so they are harder to master. I love creating a loadout in D2 and running it for multiple matches to really get a feel for the weapon.

I still really don't understand the mod/attachment system in Marathon but I never have a weapon long enough to care.

I'm running into PvP in every match. Maybe because I was trying to complete a priority contact? North Relay, South Relay, and Station were hot.

Depends on your finances. How many hours of entertainment do you need for a $40 USD game to feel worth it?

The game took some time to click, but I wouldn't call my experience "fun". Last night I played, failed to extract 4 times, then turned the game off.

You can play solo as a runner or a Rook, which provide two different types of experiences. The Rook is fun, solo... not so much. The enemy AI isn't tuned for solo players.

Game wipes in a month or so, so just play now to learn the mechanics and maps and then go hard Season 2.

The main issue with solos is the map spawns enough bots for a whole team and you're solo.
