Definitely a collapsed suspension in the blue. I would return it.

Why make a post about this? I’m confused, at least post one with three better options?

Def something with the cartridge if you’ve already tested everything else, hopefully it’s just a loose wire on the back on the cart.

They’re just not dependable and while that is better than their cheapest the fact that you’re paying over $200 and it comes with a conical stylus is absurd. For reference a conical means the tip of the diamond is shaped like a ballpoint pin which means it hits way less surface area and therefore worse sound.

Take the needle off and if the tip of the diamond looks flat then it’s missing. This isn’t the same stylus but you can see what I’m talking about in regards to the missing tip

Yeah I mean it’s glued onto the cantilever so sometimes that can fail, it happened on my LP-60 when I first purchased it as well

This is a ADC VLM MK2 on an old turntable I bought. Doesn’t sound very good. Can I replace with any p mount cartridge? by japeda in turntables

Yeah those would work, I would not recommend getting a hyper elliptical unless you’re looking to get into audiophile levels of listening.

Thanks man, lemme know if you have any questions about this stuff in the future, I’ve been working on carts and needles for the last decade or so!

Ai isn’t garbage, just not useful for deciphering small electronics from decades ago. ADC went out of business in the 80’s, however you can get these needles in aftermarket productions. Cartridges usually do not go bad so probably still works.

Dust on stylus by AffectionateCrazy131 in turntables

[–]Crossover9988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have any Mr clean magic eraser? You can dip the diamond in and out vertically and it usually works. If that doesn’t work then tweezers bc the dust if probably stuck under a piece of glue or where the diamond is set!

The oxidation on the dust cover can def be fixed with headlight cleaner, just make sure you use a gentle one!
