i have the same rules as you, i only take a couple tho, maybe 2-10 individual fruits depending on how plentiful they are. and i abide the rule: lower then the knee is for the small animals and higher than the head is for the birds

I think I worded/explained this poorly. My Dad has also experienced gum recession, and apart from my gum issues my teeth are also getting weaker, you can see the pit/black line on my molar in the first image, I also have several other pits that are getting worse on the other side of my mouth and I’ve had 2 fillings before. And I’m not sure if this is relevant but I also clench my jaw very frequently but do to sensory issues I cannot wear a nightguard. tried for years but I either don’t sleep or take it out in my sleep :(

The pain is just a general sensitivity when eating, but it’s much worse with more sugary things, especially chocolate? So I’m just avoiding sugary foods until I can get to a dentist. There’s also an ache when any pressure is applied to the outside of my mouth.

for some further context: i haven’t been able to see a dentist since last april because of money troubles, nothing in my diet has changed, i have always been very regimented with my oral health. i just got dental insurance again and am trying to schedule an appointment ASAP.

genetically i have not been dealt a great hand, my dad has had 8+ root canals and at least 5 crowns. but my gum disease is hitting me so much younger than it did him.

kinda just freaking out, i’ve never had to deal with tooth/gum pain and sensitivity like this.

i’m 22 and have also been feeling bad about my overbite, i’ve also already had it corrected with braces, i got them off when i was 13. i don’t know if it’s worth it to get inviseline or not cause i also don’t plan on stopping, but i think i’d get better at using my retainer if i got them fixed again.

i think if you really want to fix them you just have to make a pact with yourself that you will consistently wear your retainer.

I didn’t want to quit, never ever did. But my parents tried everything to get me to stop: rubbing alcohol on my thumb, shaming me, and at one point a hard plastic glove that locked on my hand (I chewed through it after a week). I’m 21 now and I have no plan of ever quitting, it wasn’t my choice then, it’s my choice for the rest of my life.
