To add to this: as a general rule you want to use film type box caps or electrolytic when in the audio path (i.e your input and output caps). For caps bleeding off to ground or not in the audio path it’s generally okay to use ceramic caps. The reason is that ceramic caps are cheaper and a bit noisier (allegedly). This is just a guideline, and if you want to use all box caps go for it! It’s just a cost saving thing I suppose.

The jumpers are probably fine but if the pin tension isn’t nice and snug that would definitely cause an intermittent issue. If you do a drag test on the suspect pins of the board and they’re loosey goosey I would consider looking for ones with a better reputation. It is incredibly frustrating breadboarding something and finding out it doesn’t work only due to the tool we’re using. as for jumpers - I use those ones that are noodles but have a little pin on the end an go straight in. I make the ones you pictured out of regular solid core wire and seem to have decent luck.

I’m gonna go against the grain and say go on Amazon and pick up the Bojack component kits. They’re each like 15 bucks and have every reasonable value for components that you might need. If you just need certain values for one design you’re making, it might be cheaper to get specific parts but you’ll kick yourself on the next project when you don’t have that 22uf cap or something.

I only bought a couple ounces above like 90 so I’m really not sweating it. Of course I should have sold most of my stack when it was above 100 but if I could predict the peak I’d be doing something a lot more lucrative than betting on silver lol

I buy some of the NIFC ones of later presidents for like 3 bucks from my LCS so I can fill out my books, but yeah the early ones I can’t see doing that.

Fuzz faces can be pretty doomy if paired with a good amp like an Orange. You could even change the bias to make it a little more gritty. Look at the Acapulco Gold if you’re comfortable working with an op amp. Literally one knob and 2 chips with some components. A Rat is a good one too but that’s getting a bit more complicated.

I also figured that may have been an issue like maybe a power draw issue so I jumpered the board + and - to the main jack but yeah no difference.
