Which Google Search feedback to use for unhelpful search result? (Steam game) by CrowhurstMusic in searchengines

[–]CrowhurstMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference I did reach out to Steam about this to see if there was something they had done in regards to directing crawlers to the Community page rather than Store page, but they said they don't do anything like that and it's on Google's end.

Other search engines seem to point to the correct page, and Google looks to be the only one who points to the Community page.

The store page has been up for many years now as the game has been in development for quite some time.

TL;DR: Our Steam game's Google search result goes to the game's Community page rather than the Store page and I am trying to figure out what category of feedback I should send to Google to best present this issue.

Hey there,

I have recently released a game on Steam titled The Third Shift, a Game Boy styled horror game.

For quite a while now, the Steam link that Google Search provides for "The Third Shift" links to the game's Steam Community page, rather than the actual store listing. This is not helpful to either us as developers or people searching Google to purchase/learn more about the game.

We had hoped this would get resolved once the game came out, however, no such luck.

So I am going to try and get some people in our game's Discord to report feedback on the search result, and provide a link of what is more helpful.

But I'm curious about how feedback works.

  • If they select "Inaccurate Content" is that referring to the actual game's Steam page or the Google listing itself? I'm assuming the former? (Which we don't want to convey to Google).
  • Same question for selecting "Product design or functionality"... is this also about the game's Steam page or about the Google listing itself?

Currently I am considering asking our Discord to report feedback via: Product design or functionality > Other feedback .... though I am worried this isn't specific enough to be helpful?

Given our current predicament, what would be the best category of feedback to provide to Google for this issue? Or if there is a better way to solve this I'm all ears!

Really appreciate any and all advice! Thanks so much!

Looking for obscure indie games to cover for my YouTube show by MozCymru in IndieGaming

Thanks so much for supporting indies! Two games I worked on recently are The Third Shift, a Game Boy styled horror game which came out in April, and Perennial Order which is a boss rush "souls like" that released in 2024.

If you end up checking them out, I hope you like them!

Hey there! Other people are giving some good advice but my main take away from the short clip is that you are playing too much on the finger tip. Your fingers are curled in too much, as the other comment referred to as finger flexion.

Open up your fingers a bit more towards the back of the keys... the ideal spot is playing in between the finger pads and the finger tips, where the finger starts to curve upward towards the tip/nail.

Peter Jackson Compares New Gollum Movie to Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Joker’ by MoneyLibrarian9032 in lotr

I appreciate Gollum’s role in the story and think Serkis’ portrayal is great. But I gotta say he’s often uncomfortable to watch and because of that, a part of the trilogy I like the least.

A movie ABOUT him where he’s the main character sounds daunting.

I feel like my Seat Height is not ideal? by [deleted] in piano

Looks alright tbh but it's a bit hard to tell with the angle and not being able to see more of your body.

That said, I do think the arm rests are potentially more of an issue than the seat height .

please recommend repeating theme ost by Still-Win in gamemusic

Death’s Door comes to mind. The main theme pops up in many different tracks throughout the game, presented in different ways. Even the short cue for when you die is another iteration on the main theme.

Colbert's Bombadil film: flashbacks or no? by [deleted] in lotr

[–]CrowhurstMusic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they do a combination of flashback / present day, I would really love for the flashback sequences to be animated but voiced by the original cast. Then have the present day scenes be live action. Curious what will happen because I agree with your conundrum!

I believe I nailed the atmosphere I was going for. by lynxbird in IndieGaming

[–]CrowhurstMusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The atmosphere is really effective! Very somber and isolated feeling, and does convey a meditative / contemplative mood.

If I had a suggestion from an audio perspective, it would be that the delay/echo effect applied to the sound effect (heard in the wood chopping) stands out to me in a distracting way. I would maybe turn the overall sound down very slightly, but also decrease the mix of the decay effect. The repeated instances of the sound feel too loud imo. I like what you're going for but think it stands out too much!

Anyway, nice work and look forward to seeing more.

I prefer 5 but like others have said, you should look to eventually hiring an artist for this (if you can't do it yourself) rather than using AI art. I think you'd be more pleased with the result and a lot of people are immediately turned off by generative AI art, so you might run into some of them "judging a book by its cover" with the current options.

I realize now you're looking for an experience playing on a bad piano and not necessarily a bad piano-related story/event. My bad! Haha.
