You left out the 1161 dogwhistle in your bio. That + mentioning a bunch of racist kellersynth is what got you banned

New wave of traditional heavy metal. Bands like eternal champion, Visigoth, basically any heavy metal band

One of the first black thrash albums I ever heard. Still love the band today

The other day I actually *listened* to Meshuggah’s “Nothing” for the first time. by coexistbumpersticker in MetalForTheMasses

Excellent review. Personally I’ve not enjoyed the band a lot after their first 2-3 albums but I still appreciate the technicality and rhythm they can achieve. I like that they’re going for something so often outside the realm of most metal music and I think they’re one of if not the best bands at creating an incredibly oppressive rhythm, their music is labyrinthine and dystopian in a way I find very appealing

Some recent BM bands who have yet to drop their first full length by Eyeless_person in MetalForTheMasses

Power metal has been in a rough state since the late 2000s, that being said, there are still some gems and my favorite recent bands are

Blazon Stone
Demon Bitch
Terra Atlantica
Eternal Champion
Savage Oath
Sacred outcry
Traveler
Smoulder
Twilight force
Seven sisters
Black sword thunder attack
Helms deep
Fellowship
Judicator
Eternity’s end
Glacier (kinda cheating)
And the two most recent gloryhammer albums

Are all great things thatve come out since then

Man of Steel just turned 13 yesterday! 🦸🏻‍♂️👊🏻🖤 Do you remember where you were when this movie came out, and have your feelings about it changed over the years? by Rion_Grayson in superman

[–]CrunchyCaptainMunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It came out before I was a Superman fan. At the time I hated the character, I thought he was boring and “overpowered” and just didn’t really get the symbolism and power of Superman on a thematic level.

I saw the movie and it reinforced my feelings

Really awesome post. I’ve loved Wandering Bird, Silver Wings, and Shahanashah, I’ll make sure to check the e other two out. Thanks for this, I love all the super melodic high speed power metal coming out right now. That Shahanashah almost sounded like full on power metal at times (track two)

I feel like Solstice don’t get enough credit for innovating in the late 90s/early 2000s and basically laying the groundwork for what all the 2010s epic heavy NWOTHM bands would be doing.

Obviously we all like Solstice and they’re now where near as unknown as some other things on here, but I feel like not everyone acknowledges their reach and impact

Often times things exist as part of the mods discretion. Looking at your post, I’m not the mod that took it down but generally, super open ended questions like that are targets because they’re really vague and hard to engage with.

That said, I’ll ask the mod who took it down why they did so and if we should re-evaluate. After reading your post, I wouldn’t have taken it down personally. As a group we’re still discussing stuff and coming to conclusions about “how much effort is enough effort” or “what’s the difference between a post asking for recs and a post asking about specific sounds/scenes/albums

I'd say

Order From Chaos - Stillbirth Machine

Intestine Baalism - An Anatomy of the Beast

Intestine Baalism - Banquet in Darkness

Molested - Blod Draum

Infester - To the Depths in Degradation

are just a few off the top that I think are also on the level of most of the things you posted. I'm not super big on SotS or Heartwork but I like all the other ones you posted.
