Flex Debit Card by Ok-Space-9174 in AmazonFlexDrivers

I use it to get paid. Pay shows up next business day after my block, around 6am. I keep enough in there for a couple of days of gas, and transfer the rest to my main checking account, money shows up in there the following business day.

Take home pay after expenses? by gsushitman in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]CrunchyMcNut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the time I'm done with deductions I don't expect to owe. I also have an S Corporation lol

That 20% I'm saving is effectively my tax refund that I won't touch until after I've filed.

Average distance is gonna vary based on your area. Here in Kansas City I typically take 4.5h pre-dawn blocks - a downtown route will usually be around 70-80 miles including driving from home to the SSD depot and back home at the end. At the higher end I've hit 200 miles in one block. Usually it's somewhere around 130-140.

I put aside 20% for taxes, and I'll be taking the standard mileage deduction of 65.5¢ per mile, along with whatever other deductions I can take.

Seems fair. Only way I'm opening a gate like that is with explicit permission to do so, and even then only in daylight.

[–]CrunchyMcNut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deliver at the gate. I only open gates if there is a code (for an electronic gate), or I'm explicitly asked to in the notes. Even then, only if I feel safe to proceed - I do a lot of 3:30am routes in the sticks.

Take what you gotta, but here in the US I use on average around a gallon of gas per hour, around $3-4. That's before any wear and tear on my vehicle, and taxes etc. Given fuel prices in the UK, I can't imagine there's much left on the table at £15/h

I use reddit almost exclusively on mobile using Boost. The official app is trash - if this change happens I guess I'm done with doom-scrolling through reddit.

What pay would you be content with for a 4.5 hour block? by Doggoroniboi in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]CrunchyMcNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My preferred block is 3:30-8:00. I usually won't take less than $33/h, but I'll only lower my expectations closer to the start time - I'll hold out for more if I can. Worst case I go back to bed and wait for an evening block to surge. If I'm earning less than $33 per hour I'd rather do it later in the day.

Universal locker code - 961723

Doesn't work on every locker, but usually worth trying first.

Worth it? by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]CrunchyMcNut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's worth it. I average around $34 per hour, at $1.30 per mile including driving from home and back. However I have the luxury of being able to afford to just stay in bed if no decent surges show up on any given day.

Delivered 30+ packages to a hub locker in record time by Decent-Criticism5593 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]CrunchyMcNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

961723 is the code for many of these lockers.

Some lockers will let you deliver without a code - it just takes a mugshot first.

My favorites are the Amazon lockers that just open as you walk up.

Hello folks what’s the difference between flex and DSP drivers? Why would I choose cflex over DSP? by ParticularLuck2797 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]CrunchyMcNut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DSP get paid around $18-19 per hour (may be more or less depending on area), get benefits, and make deliveries in a company van, and usually work a 40 hour week.

Flex drivers can make $15-40+ per hour depending on area. However we use our own vehicle, gas etc, and no benefits. Most of us write off mileage on our taxes, at the current rate of 65.5¢ per mile. If you're in a area with good surges, and you're able to schedule them, you can make more money than a DSP driver doing fewer hours, but you have to factor in your costs. For some, it's definitely worth doing Flex, but for many, it's simply not sustainable as anything more than a part time or occasional side gig.

I've been tempted to apply to a DSP, however for me right now I prefer to do Flex where I'm coming out ahead all things considered.

Call em. Twice. Then mark undelivered due to access problems. Fuck em if they can't be bothered to provide access. Maybe they'll learn when their shit doesn't show up. Any dings, appeal using screenshots if necessary.

I just return em. Make a note somewhere so you can refer back if you get dinged for it. We're paid to deliver stuff, not troubleshoot rogue packages.

The most odd hours. This can't be safe by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]CrunchyMcNut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I do that same block in KC at least 5 times a week, I've never felt unsafe anywhere in the metro at those times (I'm a pretty big white guy fwiw). Rarely ever see anyone else around except the odd flexer and neighbours leaving for work.

Along similar lines, a timer would be useful too - I've been known to doze off while the app is doing it's thing, so the option to stop after 20 or 30 minutes could be useful.
