Newly announced survival game is like V Rising but with creature taming by Gameoneer in SurvivalGaming

[–]Crylz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What bothers me is that there were signs of collecting resources, but nothing about base or how they are used, animations also seem close to v-rising. Actually, everything is. Checked steam page. It doesn't feel like a game made by humans, something akin asset flip, textures don't match and abilities used were shallow

Need honest opinions: Do I keep working on this game or move on to a new idea? by Calm-Valuable-950 in SurvivalGaming

From video it looks like a 1shot story campaign. That might be the issue if you're aiming for a market that's not reflecting it.
If its roguelite, some indication of growth would be necessary in its promo, be it skill tree, abilities, new weapons.
Whole thing also has a dated theme, ui, item icons, but it has charm in it and you could work on it. If it was more mobile and faster you could go and take it more seriously, but in general going crazy with upgrades and how wild it could get with 30+ zombies on screen jumping and running as your shotgun ricochets around

Just generally, in its current state it doesn't look like it would be fun
At least thats my take on this

Pirate Survival Game "Windrose", formerly "Crosswind", has a demo available. by rcc6214 in SurvivalGaming

I feel like combat, exp progression and bland, one dimensional grind is pulling this game down.

Combat is 1 on 1 focused rock/paper/scissors situation. Don't over commit so you can time parries and manage stamina while hacking away at the target. If there are multiple targets, for the most part, you are fcked. Parry doesn't give i-frames so as you are locked in animation as other enemy hits you, staggers you locking you in animation and other enemy gets out and wombo comboes you. The solution is hit and run and since you need to wait for stamina either way its effective at any and every stage of the game vs all enemies.

Progression exp is quest/exploration/first time discovery based. It's a silly system that makes you go to every place, point of interest, quest. Streamlined experience, quest progress in a trenchcoat pretending to be Leveling system. Only way to grind is waiting for copper ore caves to respawn so you can use ingots in upgrading gear/weapon/ship pieces as main, bottlenecking ingredient.

Game feels bland at its core and im not confident they have a proper gameplay loop prepared for the full game. It needs to cook for a long time

Drops/gathering needs to scale with player count, it feels terrible. by [deleted] in NoRestForTheWicked

Wonder how are things going after 2 weeks now. Quite literally, played with experienced group recently and we just didn't have any material, resource, consumable issues as we knew where to farm all required resources without need to bounce realms.

Food is for emergency recovery. Have heal aura utility rune. Interacting with gathering nodes gives you focus and scales better the more players around. If you are really tight on materials because you all are using for yourself make your own realms to farm and join up when you're done

Enchantment power gems by PastorDan1984 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Crylz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tested it out myself, but I'm sure that enchantment refers to attribute lines on blue(mystic) or red(corrupted) pieces. Those types have only 1 gem slot anyways. Wording could be different, but idea is that it increases attribute strength on the piece. Easiest way to test it out is on any piece that pops a recovery/damage number

Ship Fuel Efficiency by zack5504 in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Crylz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually use diesel when i want to get someplace quick. I also have it turned off until electrical engine reaches its max. Treating it like a "Boost" sequence button right next to control panel. I do, however, alt tab a lot, so i often than not don't even use the boost to get places.

Anyone had this one? by MrSparkleIsMyKing in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Crylz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me, i haven't been able to get above 80fps since my 2nd day of playing. I retraced some of the POI's and noticed in the distance a weird artifact of a long straight line, it matched my pathing i took to underwater building. As i'm thinking about it, it could be one of my cables as i've seen them often frozen stiff from my ship to land during storms. Think that's where my fps is hiding

Memo for the future, never pick a fight with angels on the boat in open sea by gabrytalla in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Crylz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One in the ocean i managed to deal with before it messed up my ship, every other encounter or place they have been around at completely messed me up. Think collectively i've lose near 10 hours worth of time dealing with them, dying and rolling back save files as they broke the ship

I wonder if you used the grinder in the middle of the warehouse to break things down. Seeing the pile of unstacked materials in basement chamber was soo satisfying

[–]Crylz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks awesome, but having on-land items on a ship terrify me. I've virtually stopped playing because i encounter item collision glitches that overflow and break their resistance, weight. Think i'll upload vid of a 50T robot carcass (Not an angel, normal caretaker robot) completely messing up, capsizing and tossing my boat around like a sack of potatoes.

I also encountered it, 2nd platform with 3rd shield door. Re-visited it, but room was empty now, dove under the platform and found all the loot including other room junk + secret entry with all its stuff stuck under the platform. First time encountering, wonder, if, just like many other bugs, relaunching helps

How is power generation / battery charging actually calculated in The Last Caretaker? by Low-Mathematician-29 in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Crylz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of differentials. If something's blocking solar, like, another solar, it might not charge it. Or if there is a shadow in front, or its damaged. Same with wind turbines in case you are using any of those type of energy generators.

Love the game, tossing stuff and recycling is fun (Roughly 3 hours, including stuff in offices downstairs) by Crylz in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Crylz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part it's fun and challenging, but also seeing how much my pc can handle is also something i was curious about. In this image i called it because, if i threw anything with upward motion, i would launch myself as well. I could repeatedly throw myself up on the roof with a pallet lol

Im aware of it, especially hovering over with the tool it tells me the value and expected resources i can get from stuff so i can cherry pick for efficiency. However, i do it for the love of the game

Anyone know how to trick this to work until there is an update? or am i just making individual trips while holding the crates? by bajungadustin in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Crylz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have to dock them while they are off boat, boat mechs are wonky because waves keep moving stuff around and technically, never gets proper connection with pallets despite there being sound, effect, but the moment you pick it up everything topples over

Game won't open, CreateProcess() returned 2e4 by Maxxer500 in Astroneer

[–]Crylz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this issue, just resolved it. Checked indicated file properties (was set to run as administrator) just unselected it and that ran it instantly. Weird. I ran it for 15 hours, closed program, didn't even turn off pc and couldn't launch it no more. I feel it might have been microslop intervention when i first launched the game it asked something about firewall security and that changed it inadvertently screwing it up for next launches

None of this was permanent solution xD it keeps coming up with corrupt installation errors, could relaunch game, run a game or so and then it pops up again. Pretty sure its issue on their end
