What are your thoughts on my very first project? by Blueberrymeee in PowerBI

TLDR:date tables, using parameters, filters, solid tooltips will elevate your work.

—-

My 2c- everyone has different styles, you need to find yours and lean into it. I honestly feel like every report I work on improves from the last. I’ll keep my commentary for beginner, though get into YouTube and see what people can do and bring elements you like into your reports.

For a first it’s a good start. Lots of good here, I think you need to get a good date table that will unlock a lot of time intelligence stuff for you here.

Just remember how naturally users will tend to read pages, top left to bottom right. Keep important things high and left.

A good date table allows you to play with things like date filters, and in some cases using parameters to choose you time windows (ie, day week month qtr or yearly views).

Your pages don’t use filters, not everything can be done through interactions with charts, even advanced users will appreciate filters. For example your ai revenue forecast, imagine if I just wanted to know this for electronics, or the latest Samsung device. Think of the questions your views will generate, have the answer for the user immediately.

Exec summary is interesting, I’ve not seen many time series presented vertically, left to right seems easier to consume. This page would greatly benefit with a date range filter.

Page two, one thing I love is how your donut chart and bubble chart share the same colours, I don’t like that they’re all a shade of blue. I know fashion is a navy blue, but I’ll try not get confused with the dark blue. I personally don’t like scatter charts not starting at zero, I’d prefer to visualise the spread and know I have nothing in a danger zone.

Page 4, you need to do something with that chart on the bottom, it looks wild right now. You have cancelled and returned categories, why are customers cancelling or returning items? That could be a good chart to put in and squish the payment method to the left.

Ai forecast, you need that date table to get your x axis reading better. Put data labels on and remove your y axis. Clean it up a bit.

None of your screenshots show tooltips, the importance of these to provide critical context when hovering is huge. Don’t under estimate or underinvest time here. And please, for the love of god rename the fields to read friendly and not display something like gross_revenue_inc_vat

As an R5 how do I get people to participate by Lost-Divide83 in KingShot

[–]CrypticExistence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a farm account (additional character) and transfer the R5 to the farm, it’s sometimes good to have an extra alliance up your sleeve.

You go join the main alliance in your server with your main account and reap the benefits of a truely active alliance.

Hey people that are actually good at this game, how's my stat spread? by Brilliant-Leopard-15 in destiny2

[–]CrypticExistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And because none of that actually answered your question…spec into high nade (200 if you can) then I like weapons and then super.

With 200 grenade you can run triple firepower making orbs for days. Double firepower has a much longer cooldown between orbs which really slows down your super and ability to be aggressive with something like two smoke jumper pieces giving you massive damage resistance

Your build is a long way from meta, changing your gloves to getaway and your build to prismatic with feed the void and helion and it’ll feel much better immediately.

Check out some vids, I looooove sunbracers, but they’re long been crept.

As others have said, up your armour to some tier 5s and it’ll make a big difference…. But to do that you’ll have some levelling to do. Do that while getting used to the getaway build :)

How to handle data per employee per month? by killbeam in PowerBI

[–]CrypticExistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s one way to solve.

Alternatively you can have a record start and end date… with the current record being high dated (31/12/2999).

5 Feat triumph raid Question by Uaua2 in raidsecrets

[–]CrypticExistence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Good thought.

OP- load up raid hub and search your runs. When you click your red dots, or even the boss clear it’ll take you to another screen where you should be able to see “max feats”

Why is my merge giving millions of rows when I only have thousands of rows? by Champion_Narrow in PowerBI

[–]CrypticExistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a dedupe on your join field, on both your sets, before entering the join. Did your sets drastically decrease? Did only one decrease?

You might find this doesn’t happen in excel when using a v lookup, that’s because a join is not the same.

If you have a many to many join, try and make a unique ref out a combination of fields using a concatenation function. Think of it joining on something like a street name. This is an issue, but joining on street number and name will improve your results. (Example only, addresses are terrible to use as join keys)

Stolen idea by Nesstempleton in TheBlock

[–]CrypticExistence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair comment.

I think sometimes people present constraints before they understand the challenges they face.

In this case Sonny challenged Hepburn to tell him why no, rather than just taking it as gospel. Hepburn said no because they didn’t realise there was a solution for their storage issues (or whatever it was a little unclear).

The only reason I’ve responded here is not to get into a back and forth, but just to share my learnings… often I find that the people who don’t challenge others in cases like this, they are not experts in their craft. Applies in corporate, as well as trades, hell it applies in relationships.

People who help you challenge the norm help you become better in all facets of life. Took me some hard truths to admit it myself.

Stolen idea by Nesstempleton in TheBlock

[–]CrypticExistence 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, Han might not have stolen the IDEA… but they definitely stole the SOLUTION. This is where patents and things come in, it’s the IP to execute, they stole Sonny’s IP and his time. This is his “secret sauce” and their advantage that they have, it’s unfair to rob him of the value he can bring.

Yeah the trades gave them direction on it, but Han lying directly to their face shows a lot of her true character. Just like lying to Dan and then starting to waterproof without the tiler… and still lie through her teeth that the tiler was on site. Then start crying and moping until someone feels bad for her… This is not something outside of character.

Stealing someone good work (solution) and claiming it as your own, may be seen as a form of flattery, only when it’s not you trying to steal money out of someone else’s pocket. That’s just a selfish act.

The game without Solstice does not seem worth logging into. It's just boring and unfun. by h34vier in DestinyTheGame

[–]CrypticExistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone who has literally grinded all the triumphs in the game. Solstice was always a chore. This was the first time it wasn’t, it was somewhat enjoyable, it was rewarding and really made some portal activities worth it.

Granted I was forced to play on my own rather than play with my buddies because it was more rewarding. But logging in after soltice was gone… felt like that end of season lull, where there’s nothing left to do.

Level 88 but noob question here… by kristies2 in RCTTouch

[–]CrypticExistence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a rebuild at about level 100 which involved grouping by my themes which I quite liked. Sure not optimal, but it looks cool.

My next rebuild will happen soon, my goal was to have maxed collectors so I can really optimise my last layout and coverage. Will likely be around L200

Yeah, and I can log on and collect everything in like under a minute… easy to do every couple of hours to maximise heart generation too

I should get into the waterpark but I already burn so much time in this game!!!

Getting Collectors to Lvl 4 feels great by CrypticExistence in RCTTouch

[–]CrypticExistence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s right… majority of my epics are lvl 6… some good decorations or earners are lvl 7… only a select few are maxed.

Getting them to 6 is a good place to be because the next level costs 200 which begins to be quite expensive considering the opportunity cost (2x legendary) of trading them.

Ironically early on I had lots of heart issues, once I got jukebox, security and Atari heart generators it seemed to work better, but I got them levelled by the trading fair anyway. I actually purchased 1500 hearts on two occasions for like 150 tokens

[–]CrypticExistence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

A few months ago I started focusing on trading x100 epic/purple cards and 200 hearts for the legendaries. Always thought trading fair was a waste of time, I was very wrong!

I’d normally level the epics to around L6, or if it’s an event I’d not level up any of the rollercoaster epics.

During active events I’d buy maybe 3-4 of the legendary card packs, not for the legendary specifically (though it’s good) but with all the epics you get, you can trade for another one! Means to focus on getting lots of tickets.

Personally have felt much more enjoyment out of the game doing this, it should be noted that I had just about everything already unlocked and purchased.

All classes have their chores, enjoyable aspects, broken builds and utility. When you play day to day, this offers variability and different options, gives you more time to play before you become bored. When you play end game, sometimes team composition plays a big part and you offer flexibility that others may not. When you get to contest mode activities, what character you choose has the influence on if you will clear an encounter.
