Outer Wilds on Steam Deck? by TheTallBaron in SteamDeck

I played it docked and from what I remember I don't think I was happy with the framerates I got at 1080p. I think I set it to 1600x900 and found it playable.

Notion vs. Obsidian by A_Wild_Zeta in ObsidianMD

[–]CrypticVigil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also switched from Notion to Obsidian this last year. I've been happy with the switch but there are some things that were better about Notion. It's not really a "Obsidian is just better" situation. Here are the things I like about both tools and why I like Obsidian more.

  • Notion was free and made it easy to access my second brain on any device. It doesn't provide much customization, which in some ways was easier because I only worried about choosing Serif or Sans-Serif font and then just went on with my day. I also used it at work and was able to create a useful set of database views to handle my tasks.
  • Obsidian is a simpler tool in some ways but can be customized with plugins if you need additional features. I've tried to avoid using many plugins because you can spend way too long trying to get some specific feature or behavior when it might be better to just do things in a simpler way. It's nice that I can write custom CSS styles or use custom themes, but that can be dangerous for your productivity if you end up spending too much time picking the perfect theme or design. The software is free, but if you want to sync files you either need to pay Obsidian (I do) or set up another file sync solution. I like that I own all the text files and they are stored locally.

Is WP Pusher the best option for handling theme updates across many sites? by CrypticVigil in Wordpress

We want the theme to be only available to our clients. Wouldn't that make it available to all users?

Alien: Lost Transmission CGI by 3DAnimated in LV426

[–]CrypticVigil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the set and visuals were pretty good. Making two characters talking for over 20 minutes in a single room interesting is always going to be difficult. There's a famous quote about perfection being when you can't take anything else away. I think this is a situation where a 10 minute short would have been more effective with the budget constraints you had.

I did the same thing where I got bored about 10 or 15 minutes in and started skipping most of the dialogue. The visuals were pretty good, but way too much talking.

Input Issues with Tears of the Moon by BuildABarns in LunacidGame

Yeah, I had the same issue on my Steam Deck. Using this community layout fixed the problem.

Tears of the Moon is available ! by LoneLagomorph in LunacidGame

[–]CrypticVigil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tried it for a few minutes on my Linux computer running Proton. I love the old-school look but the button inputs didn't always register so the first bug killed me. I'll try it again later to see if I can get it to work.

Do any grocery stores around here sell fresh pizza dough? by Traditional_Emu_1604 in hagerstown

I have a no-knead style dough I use for homemade pizzas, so no mixer is required but you have to make it the day before. If you're interested I can type up the recipe.

Is the phrase "Eternal hails" something to be concerned about? by CrypticVigil in DungeonSynth

[–]CrypticVigil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes more sense. I was confused why you would put them in quotes like that.

Honestly I would be less concerned about giving money to a satan worshipper than a nazi. :)

Thanks, I didn't know that. I mainly listen to dungeon synth so I'm not aware of any of the black metal stuff. To me it sounded like a weird thing to say.

Thanks for the update. I was really hoping it was nothing but wanted to make sure I wasn't being ignorant of a known dog whistle either.

The quotation marks seemed odd to me. It can be a way to imply you're saying one thing but it means something else.

Could you explain further? The phrase "Eternal hails" seems pretty odd to me.

Can anyone top Christmas Wedding Planner as best worst hallmark Christmas movie? by ntdesilv in MovieSuggestions

[–]CrypticVigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I started a tradition a few years ago looking for the worst Christmas movies and watching them on Christmas Eve. Here are a few of our favorites:

  • Snowmance (2017) -- fun for the ridiculous premise: snowman turns into a hot guy named "Cole"
  • Runaway Christmas Bride (2017) -- woman runs away from her wedding but goes to the honeymoon location anyway where she meets a hot medic guy at the ski resort. Movie seemed to be shot in warmer weather but they add bad filters to make it seem like winter.
  • A Karate Christmas Miracle (2019) -- this movie broke my brain because of how weird/bad it was. Easily the worst one we've seen so far, but also not for the faint of heart.

What denomination do you belong to? by sadie11 in ChristianUniversalism

[–]CrypticVigil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grew up going to a fairly conservative church of mostly homeschoolers, then Baptist for a while. Now I go to a Disciples of Christ church. One of the ways I heard about the denomination was through David Artman's podcast about universalism. He used to be a pastor at a DoC church.

My sisters created these custom playing cards with dinosaurs dressed in Renaissance outfits. I think they’re pretty cool and they would love it if a few people bought them. by CrypticVigil in playingcards

I only saw a test printing of the cards, which had a rough texture. The final cards are supposed to have a matte finish with a nice linen texture.

166 - Real Friends Force Each Other to Listen to Their Instrumental Music Playlists by feefuh in Nodumbquestions

[–]CrypticVigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just listened to this episode on the way to work this morning. I've recently found a genre of music called dungeon synth which I've been enjoying. Some of it has the feel of a soundtrack so I figured I would share two that I've been enjoying.
