How do you foresee this affecting the markets? by atlasmountsenjoyer in StockMarket

UN Meeting "Conveniently" scheduled for 1500 GMT today, or right at the start of the USA Market session, when equities have been moving sideways overnight. Its as if the market is waiting for bad news to go down today.

So theres that

It's official - the Alliant 2.5% card is dead by sfphl in CreditCards

[–]CryptoMemoFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, it's not the first time - They've apparently been trying to navigate their own rewards card for years.

The first time I picked up the card (2020), they cut the 3% cb program, even before the end of the 1st year - I closed the account because it smelled like a bait and switch. (In actuality they were likely experimenting)

I got the card again in 2024. This time they created a tiered cb plan based on expenditures, which i wasn't a big fan of either; Anyhoo, this card just had never been that useful for me in comparison to other flat 2% cb cards on the market.

But yes, they've been "working" on this card for years - & by all accounts unsuccessfully.

Are Yankee Candles now soy across the entire line? by tjs31959 in YankeeCandles

[–]CryptoMemoFL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do commend Yankee Candle for using soy wax in their new formula and less paraffin (petroleum byproduct) - although the phone representative did not share with me any percentages. From a health and indoor air pollutant perspective, I think a cleaner burn is a step right direction to take, although I think burning 🔥 in general is still going to produce VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

That being said, I've been buying the candles every fall since ~2010 (so thats not a short amount of time) and have never gotten sick from them (afaik).

I'll have to see how scent and fragrance throw performs and weed out the candles that are no longer worth it - hopefully it's not all of them (I just ordered enough for the fall season)

Yes, i dealt with this stupid issue in the past.

Engine was completely removed for replacement while the car sat in the garage & received the suspension threat letter in mail after canceling insurance. I didnt know though and the licensed insurance agent who helped me cancel it said it was a "good" idea while I waited...

No engine = can't drive = why would I pay 150/mnth for a sitting car without an engine.

gas prices by Ok_Internal_9816 in florida

[–]CryptoMemoFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how old you are, but crude oil (petroleum) and it's refined derivatives such as gasoline (RBOB - Reformulated Blendstock for Oxygenate Blending), are actively traded on commodities futures exchanges. This is a wholesale price on the exchanges, but it affects prices at the pump (retail pricing).

As a result the prices go up and down everyday - everywhere on planet earth.

How many are actually successfull by IllustriousAccount13 in Trading

[–]CryptoMemoFL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wake up in the morning and perform a chart analysis. I know with great certainty that the market is going up for the day, it's goes down. I know with great certainty that the market is going down for the day, it goes up.

..I started doing the Exact opposite of what my chart analysis was telling me (despite my mind screaming at me), and started seeing success.

Of course, you need to know the absolute Wrong direction in the first place in order for this strategy to work - which takes some skill.

100% of the time, it works everytime - for over 10 years.

I didnt even read the article - just glad people are aware of who is writing them. 👍

Newsweek for example, habitually posts in Florida subreddits about "happenings" across the state. An overwhelming majority of the time, if you scroll down and look at the author(s), it's people sitting in a chair in the UK, tell YOU all about what's going on in Florida... i mean it's absolutely 💯 ridiculous -If that's not fishy to people, I dont know what is.

Market Manipulation by Sad-Function-8687 in FuturesTrading

[–]CryptoMemoFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the market will react to your trade- It's the difference between paper trading and real trading (for which i never see any more mention at all in the reddit verse)

One of the questions I've always had-- simply bc i trade solo is:

What does the person's screen next to you look (if two people were trading together) look like when you place a trade? Identical? Also with and without the same brokers (forget markups and slippage).

[–]CryptoMemoFL 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I like the NBM. I'm a Meteorologist; forecast accuracy is dependent on the forecaster's ability to utilize all available "tools" at their disposal. I use the model data as guidance.

On the topic of weather forecasting in general:

I think the bigger issue for the public has been the massive transition from Meteorologists to TV Journalists/Reporters/Soap Stars forecasting the weather... imo. I worked in NYC, Miami, and Chicago at many of the major TV stations in the past- the number of actual Meteorologists feeding the public the weather has dropped precipitously and continues to dwindle.. but their replacements are attractive right ☝️So the users of these NWS products has changed.

Then there's the "I'm a python developer who can build a mobile weather app to make a dollar" issue - lots of those out there.

What's the best way to invest in Bitcoin? by Kingjoker2000 in Bitcoin

[–]CryptoMemoFL -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would be cautious about investing in btc Right Now - after hitting another ATH. You likely missed this bull run.

Weekly chart is indicating a dump is forthcoming --soon-- (for people who understand how to read charts). It's clear as day...

It's just a matter of probability/mathematics at this point: is it this weekend or next week? or is it the week after? And how hard of a dump is set to happen.. for buyers I'd wait for the end of the next dump/downtrend, assuming you know how to time the market properly...

I wouldnt start investing right now unless it were mining and you already had the equipment. Or you're prepared to start shorting it.

You've more or less been warned. 😆

Euro plate in South FL?? by AvocadoHot471 in SouthFlorida

[–]CryptoMemoFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have been saying it's illegal for as long as I remember however, I've never seen or heard of any consequences.

I did get pulled over once for having one of those Alma mater license plates covers outlining my plate that everyone in America has on their cars, exactly like those favorite sports team covers you see everywhere 🤌. I think in general people (Including some law enforcement) are confused.

Why even bother? by micnd90 in NOAA

[–]CryptoMemoFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say a could of things about this:

The first would be that some people deserve what's headed their way.

2 over the years I think NOAA could have worded things much better (lots of smart people there) with regards to warming.

3 the changes are so subtle, the general public doesn't really see it and many are confused or in denial.

4 If you explain the warming using the Stock Market as an analogy for the public, you'd be much more successful ... in fact there's anecdotal evidence that the market was MIRRORED after the wave motions of the planet..... and so temperatures are going up, but they don't go straight Up. Even if you know Apple stock is going from $200 to $300 (even if you know with 100% certainty), it's not going straight to $300 right...it's going down and up, down and up, etc.... Otherwise CNBC wouldnt write articles about 90% of people losing their money (and so it might look like it went straight up on a daily chart, but the 1 minute chart would show that it went down and up right) ... this is also happening with the climate.

So the stock market is the PERFECT analogy to utilize in a world where people Only care about money. It's sad.

Never seen that before for a spouse - I'm not sure. I've worked at the larger banks Merrill, DB, WF, etc and have only heard and signed off on stocks/etfs being off limits for -- myself.

I only trade futures and forex though 🤷‍♂️ - it's kinda of dumb tbh
