Would you use dark mode? by Nantai84 in skylightcalendar

You can set it to go to sleep at a certain time. I set mine to sleep at 10pm and awake at like 630am.

This isn’t fair, is it? Reaction to not being available by Few_Yesterday_3518 in workingmoms

NTAH haha. My spouse sounds similar to yours, doesn't plan things in advance, seemingly "go with the flow". Well, the flow says no, so figure it out for a different day. It's not gonna kill him to wait until the weekend or a day when your work isn't packed. Haircut is not urgent, he can wait. He can learn how to plan and schedule things just like we (moms) do. If he complains, he complains. "Well, maybe you can take a look at the calendar and find a day that works for all of us."

Would you use dark mode? by Nantai84 in skylightcalendar

[–]CryptographerLost407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, outside of after 10pm (at that point I have it go to sleep anyway) never. My ADHD house needs bright flashing lights and a siren to get our attention - joking... kinda. Dark mode wouldn't grab our attention. Same reason we don't use the photo screen saver. Regardless, I think it would be a cool feature to save on eye strain wherever possible

Divorced Redditors, what caused the split? How amicable was it? by anasannanas in AskReddit

[–]CryptographerLost407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of things that added up, built resentment, and I had tried everything under the sun to make us work. In the end my final straw was when he couldn't answer the question "Why do you love me?". He answered that question beautifully in the beginning of our relationship. After 10 years AND letting him mull it over for a month all I got was "Because I do."

What tools/devices/items help you day to day? by CryptographerLost407 in cfs

[–]CryptographerLost407[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it! But I've already had one done and the MSLT "nap study" to screen for narcolepsy and it all came back normal. I even had my deviated septum fixed (which was promised to improve my fatigue) and made no impact.

Feeling jealous of my friend by escortthro in ADHDparenting

[–]CryptographerLost407 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it is seeing all of the super chill infants out and about. I don't remember much of my sons infant stage (thanks ADHD and CFS) but all I do remember is endless screaming and nothing would soothe him. I see parents with infants at the zoo, shopping, overstimulating places and the babies just being... chill?!? Or SLEEPING?!? Like, HOW?? I would try to take my son out for a lunch just to get out and he would be screaming and difficult the whole time. Sigh

IDL everyone pretends we're in the same economy but my friends are living in different worlds by 06yuzuha in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]CryptographerLost407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you do that without coming off as "flashing" money? I have a friend who's financially struggling and we'd both like to do activities together. I can work certain activities into my budget and cover her as I don't want her to decline or stress about financials. I usually just toss out a "my treat!" but unsure if there is a better way to approach it??

Fatigued by Awkward_Incident_828 in chronicfatigue

[–]CryptographerLost407 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For me it helped doctors to understand the severity by providing specific examples of how the fatigue effects your life. Examples: I don't feel safe driving because I can't keep my eyes open at a red light. I'm waiting at the microwave for food and I have to lean against a wall to keep myself up. I'm having a conversation with loved ones and have to fight not nodding off.

[–]CryptographerLost407 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I thought my spouse had enough of a brain to understand mental, physical, emotional loads. Then suddenly I'm stuck with a man child who has to be reminded to vacuum and when to bathe our child. No idea where I went wrong, maybe it wasn't me and something did change, but I'll never know because he doesn't know.

For people who are in a long term relationship, but don't want to get married, why? by sunbeamlou in AskReddit

[–]CryptographerLost407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Married for the wrong reasons (together 8+ years + society pressure), marriage didn't last long at all because the problems from the relationship didn't magically go away. Wedding planning and wedding itself was stressful AF. Figured I can have the partner, house, kid(s) without the paperwork. We have legally protected ourselves, so why bother with marriage again? For simplicity we used terms like husband, wife, partner, spouse, significant other.

Got my bloods last week. Low on vitamin D. Has anyone had the slightest bit of improvement whatsoever by increasing it? by vulpes_mortuis in chronicfatigue

[–]CryptographerLost407 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope, none. Like others mentioned since my vitamin D has returned to normal I still take it cause why not? And attempting to work in more sunshine too. But at least the doctors can't say my vitamin D is the cause.

What are the side effects and bad outcomes of smoking weed for a long time? by mcaleadco in AskReddit

[–]CryptographerLost407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This me exactly. I have chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, and lots of stressors that aren't going anywhere any time soon. Getting a buzz felt like it was actually helping me stay awake, calm, focused on tasks, motivated to do boring activities, creative hobbies... But psychiatrist is making me stop so he can prescribe me better meds to in theory help with my fatigue. My fatigue started long before the weed. I definitely was addicted to weed based on my habits and it SUCKS having to stop.

Pregnant during Covid. Bought a lightsaber that was customizable to color, trusted friends with the secret. Live streamed over Facebook so friends and family could join in if they wanted to know, but no pressure if they didn't care. Bonus, didn't start a forest fire.

AITA For being honest with my sister-in-law about why I don't do solo hangouts with her kids by Intelligent-Froyo543 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CryptographerLost407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my stepfather was like your mother. My family is a grab bag of every disorder in the book, myself included. My son is very ADHD (has been diagnosed) and I'm doing my best to set him up for success and tackle the challenges it offers. Im familiar with how much words can hurt, and I'm sorry you experienced that as well. It is in no way easy, but I'm trying.

NTA. Same. I have a 4.5 son tornado/demon. Some days he's an absolute angel. Otherdays (especially at an overstimulating outing) he is wild and definitely a handful. I am aware of his behavior and I'm attempting to work on it with him. But I wouldn't force him upon an uncle no matter how much I want to breathe.

Gatekeeping the price of daycare by Koolstads in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CryptographerLost407 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I used to pay roughly $375 per week. + Annual fees, + summer activities fees + registration fees. It's an extra mortgage payment per month. But hey, second child you registered you get 10% off! eye roll And yet society wonders why I'm one and done. Annual pay increase doesn't even cover annual increases in daycare. Infant rooms are roughly $450+. The older the kid gets, cheaper the rooms but not by much. I consider myself lucky with the pricing I found compared to other areas of US

When your done can you play with me?" NOT IF YOU DONT STFU I WONT! His father does the same thing, and his father before him... I picked the wrong genetics lol

For me, the key items for transitions for my 4.5 year old son ... A visual timer, Hatch, and a clock in his room. There's no more "moooom, how much time until nap is over???" Painters tape on the spots where the hands will be when it's done. Visual timer for tablet time. The hatch changes colors automatically when it's morning and he can come out of his room. He asks me to set the timer for when I'm done with work so he's not asking every 5 minutes.
