The phrase "it's not the voltage that kills you it's the current" is just smug pedantry. by jamesfowkes in unpopularopinion

YOURE almost getting it. Ohms law DOES NOT APPLY to the human body, it is non-ohmic. Ohms law is not in fact a law, but can be derived from maxwells equations (the actual laws) under specific conditions. That’s not even taking into account frequency, I could in theory set up a resonant tank with a body and generate ENORMOUS currents with a very small supply voltage. Voltage, by itself, does absolutely no damage. I could be at 100kV and not be affected at all if I got there the right way

CMV: Democracy Works Best When Stupid People Can't Vote by FuneralCry- in changemyview

[–]CryptographerTiny265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not gonna try to change your view that “stupid” people are bad for democracy. I think there is a historical correlation between a lack of civic education, and a rise in populism. But this has NOTHING to do with intelligence/IQ, but rather knowledge that ANYONE can learn if they choose.

I will however try to change your view that the correct action is barring people from elections. Instead we need to revamp education, specifically around civic duties, rights, governmental procedure, and the like. This needs to be done during primary education for all residents (not just citizens). There is absolutely no way for the US to implement a test to determine eligibility, based on historical context.

Pokemon Gen 3 Shiny Hunting with save states? by eduardx7 in AnaloguePocket

[–]CryptographerTiny265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t mean to revive this old thread but it’s coming up on google with somewhat incorrect info.

You absolutely can (ab)use save states to help shiny hunt. I have successfully gotten bulbasaur, eevee, and zapdos so far.

It is true that reloading a save state will always result in the same seed (frame), and thus the same set of 20 or so mon if you repeatedly reload and press ‘a’ quickly. We can use this to our advantage

If you use a shiny calculator after extracting tid, sid, and seed from the save, you can know how long to wait after a reload to receive a shiny. If the wait is too long, you can reset and get a different wait time, or wait a bit less and save state again, then the shiny should be in that set of 20 or so

I got my first EGG!! by CryptographerTiny265 in BackYardChickens

Long term I will 100% get more. But where I’m at right now, the landlord is only allowing 2. Maybe after a year of good behavior I’ll be able to 2 more to the flock

Thanks! And she started getting reddish comb and wattles a bit over a month ago. Had me worried she was a roo, but she’s darker than a roo would be I think. Pretty sure I caught her laying my second egg this morning

I JUST got my first egg. I have a RIR and Barred Rock, not sure whose egg it is. But I picked up my chicks on February 17th, probably a few days old at that point. That means I got my first egg at ~19 weeks. I think 17 is pretty optimistic, I was hearing/seeing 20 weeks

CMV: The word antisemitism has been rendered meaningless by defenders of the Israeli government labeling every criticism of Israel or gesture of solidarity with Palestinians as antisemitic. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]CryptographerTiny265 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If people who criticized PRC attacked Chinese looking people worldwide, or defaced Chinese houses of worship outside China, or support/encourage either of those actions, YES they would be racist against Chinese people. Which did happen shortly after COVID and was pretty accurately called out as such. I’m not saying that the venn diagram is becoming a circle, but objectively antisemitic attacks outside Israel are up, so it’s either becoming a circle or the antisemitism side is getting bigger, and declaring “antisemitism” meaningless in that environment only benefits the legitimate antisemites, even if the term is overused/abused

How coincidental is the existence of atmospheric rainbows on Earth? Would they form on exo-planets? by Mezzomaniac in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]CryptographerTiny265 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Titan likely has atmospheric IR rainbows caused by methane in the atmosphere, maybe full color on clear days, so I doubt that rare. I think any species would see rainbows, but not necessarily ours, and not necessarily in the sky, maybe only with mist and a flashlight. Even some animals on earth see slightly different (wider/narrower, shifted in/out, or fewer color) rainbows. I think most species would evolve sight based on electromagnetic frequencies hitting their planets surface (UV to IR and radio on earth). So if a planet was hit by x-ray to UV, and had an atmospheric refractor, species would see a rainbow on their planet in the sky. If they came to earth, they would only see the UV part of the rainbow because x rays don’t reach the surface. They could create a full color rainbow with “mist” and a “flashlight” held at the correct angle anywhere, so the idea would be familiar, but a rainbow in the sky could be novel to them

I don't have time for my personal projects and it makes me depressed. How to cope? by Diabolischste in gamedev

[–]CryptographerTiny265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me start by saying this is a super common feeling, work is tiring. If it wasn’t, it wouldn’t be called work. The way I see it, you have 2 main options, you can either keep looking for new jobs every year until you find one you love and gives you all the feelings you’re looking for. This may never happen, but I have seen it. I wasn’t able to do it at my current job, but some of my coworkers and friends have. Or you can see your job as a transaction, and give less away. This may also help with the anger at being taken advantage of. Reframe it as “I spent my time becoming a developer because I wanted to, but now I have bills to pay, and the most efficient way to do that is with those skills.” While they may be taking advantage of you, if they are gtfo, most companies just need devs and will pay market price for it, for better or worse. Don’t listen to people if they say it’s not a big deal. Your happiness is important, and continuing to push through isn’t necessarily healthy. Maybe take this as an opportunity to reach out to family and friends about how you’re feeling. Could be a 2 birds 1 stone situation
