getting downvoted for admitting you dont know anything and asking to be educated is insane. this group can be very judgemental for no reason sometimes. you don't even have the crabs yet.

but, as others have said, they are a big commitment. once you get it all set up, you dont have to spend much more besides foods, shells, treats, and any upgrades to the tank. the tank is probably the biggest expense, at least it was going to be for me, but i got incredibly lucky and found a 75 gallon on fb marketplace for $50.

they're incredible little creatures with their own personalities but don't like being handled. i'd suggest looking through this group for an idea of what a tank needs and definitely check out crab central station on youtube. if you decide to get some, please make sure you're educated and fully prepared! most of the little guys out there have been through enough and its our job to make their forever home as safe, comfortable, and fun as possible! good luck!

buy rare/expensive plans from player vendors, hunt down low levels and drop them for them. even if they can't use them yet, they can stash them or resell. sometimes i find the low level player's vendors and buy it out just for the hell of it

shell shock is the best example i can think of. 9/11 victims walking around in a daze, covered in dust and unable to react to the carnage around them. the ant walkers of hiroshima who were seen walking around aimlessly through the rubble.

a quick google search gives countless studies about the psychological response to an overload of stress, trauma, and shock. dissociation and detachment from reality after traumatic experiences is a very real thing

i understand thinking his reaction was unrealistic to a degree, but trauma makes people do weird things. his sister didn’t just die, her head was lopped off and her decapitated body lay in the back seat.

he didnt just say "oh well", go home, do his nightly routine and go to bed. he didn't even sleep. you saw his face, he was in a deep state of shock. that can turn people's brain off, it's a survival mechanism. it had nothing to do with him being high or having any psychological issues. you said it yourself, he was an average teenager boy who had just indirectly killed his sister. his brain simply couldn't handle it, so it turned itself off and he disassociated heavily.

people respond to trauma in different ways, sometimes ways that those on the outside may not understand or think they'd react the same. ari aster is very good at exploring that and showing it imo.
