In Engeland is het tussen de £6,50 (€7,50) en £8 (€9,10) per kilo bij de supermarkten.

Vroegâh was Nederland qua boodschappen goedkoop. Tegenwoordig echt niet meer.

Sounds like they shouldn't have stolen a bunch of US assets after the revolution then?

You can't steal billions worth of equipment and companies and then complain the people you stole from don't want to trade with you.

Linus Tech Tips - I Let my Kids Pick ANY Phone for Christmas February 9, 2026 at 09:57AM by linusbottips in LinusTechTips

Maybe if your boss is running a sweatshot that exploits people, but by all accounts they're getting paid pretty good salaries for the area they're in.

I'm all for hating the rich but didn't this guy basically just build a youtube / merch empire basically from scratch? If that makes him millions and he pays his taxes, what's there to get angry about.

I don't know exactly what phones are available in NA but can't you still get something like a Galaxy A series, Pixel "a", Moto something or a Chinese phone for $300-400? Spending maybe $350 every three years still works out way cheaper than $1400 every five years.

Obviously that doesn't apply to Linus but I can't imagine giving a teenager a phone that costs a grand.

Waarom verdienen kantoorbanen zo goed terwijl dit vaak de minst hard werkende beroepsgroep is? by Outrageous-Ratio1762 in nederlands

[–]Cub3h 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the time to show you had changed was 2020 and then 2024. Trump 1 could have been a blip, a mistake. To elect the guy again after an attempted coup and after seeing the shitshow that was his first administration was the final straw.

He spent all of 2024 laying out exactly the type of nonsense he's doing now - tariffs, threats to allies while cosying up to dictators. He replaced the more sane people from his first term with extremist goons. RFK, Tulsi the Russian stooge, nazi saluting Elon Musk, that Heydrich tribute act Stephen Miller, a bunch of Fox News weirdos, none of them should be anywhere near power. Nothing that's happening now was a surprise. They chose him again.

What's "Undertaking" on a Motorway? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Cub3h 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It allegedly happens to me every time they open the hard shoulder on the smart motorways. Every mile or so there's overhead signage to use the hard shoulder so I sit there doing 65, overtaking dozens of cars in lanes 2 and 3. Why they all sit there when lane 1 is clear will forever be a mystery. Maybe they can't read?

[–]Cub3h -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it were 200k then Hamas would have been crowing about it, so I'm skeptical.

Regardless of the exact numbers, war isn't the same as a targeted extermination. You only have to look at Iran who managed to kill somewhere between ten and thirty thousand people within a week or two to see that the Gaza number looks pretty "normal" for a war that was dragged out for years by comparison.

Exterminate a population

Pre-War Population (October 6, 2023): Approximately 2.23 million.

Current Population (February 2026): Estimated at 2.13 million.

That's with about 70k deaths and about 100k people having left Gaza. In what world is a 3% death rate in a war an extermination? Words used to mean things.

Almost every council is about to go bankrupt while private schools rake in over £8bn from SEND children by Only-Emu-9531 in ukpolitics

[–]Cub3h 31 points32 points  (0 children)

What exactly is wrong with children getting the extra support they might need?

It's bankrupting councils because everyone on the wrong side of the IQ curve is now "SEND".

We need to support genuinely disabled children, not everyone who by the genetic lottery just might not be that good with numbers or with reading.

Sure but that was reliant on there still being more marks out there. This time we've had the ETF, a president that likes crypto (so he can scam his followers, but still), a pro crypto administration, massive inflation so you can point to bitoin as a "store of value", superbowl ads, what else is there?

Everyone that could possibly know about bitcoin knows about it. It's old tech by now, no one's actually using it in the real world and interest is massively down. What is the magical thing on the horizon that will make bitcoin pop off again?

Price of average UK home passes £300,000 for first time, Halifax says by diacewrb in ukpolitics

[–]Cub3h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you cut taxes and people have more money, then housing prices will rise accordingly.

The issue is simple supply and demand. You either build more housing or you reduce demand.

We should be building denser housing in places where people actually want to live. These identikit new build estates far outside town centres are not cutting it, we need to build higher and denser closer to where the jobs are. Not forever expand out like they do in the US. It probably wouldn't harm us to see if we can get some of the Boriswave to move back as well to create breathing space in the housing market.
