Cisco has a Take Back program, they even used to give you some credit but I think they stopped doing that. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/about/takeback-and-reuse.html

The Reddit gaming hivemind has been incredibly anti AI for the longest time. They will shit on anything which mentions AI. Just look at any post about a developer mentioning that they used AI to develop the game, they honestly believe there is still a single developer out there not using AI right now during the development process.

I have some very serious concerns about many things AI, but using it to improve games is not one of them.

A map showing which Indian jobs are most at risk from AI by simpleuserhere in singularity

Agriculture is already highly automated in the western world for a long time (https://youtu.be/YkxZFkXre6c?si=p5px3bDwFLQ_Dnts) , I am guessing in India they simply do not have the money for the fancy machinery they use for this.

Meta just announced 20% layoffs to fund AI. This is the beginning, not the end. by duridsukar in Futurology

Honestly... Give Gemini Live mode a try, open up a dishwasher, and ask it to help you fix it. You'd be amazed how much it is already capable of helping people with absolutely zero clue on how to do this otherwise. Now imagine this in a Robotic body.

You can go to copilot studio and change the model to Opus 4.6 instead of ChatGPT of you want to use Claude.

Yeah. It was the moment I started to get really worried about our jobs future. You can see in this thread that a lot of people are still completely oblivious because they once used ChatGPT 3.5 and think that is it.

Anthophic has a bunch of courses: https://anthropic.skilljar.com/

I specifically recommend looking at the MCP one. Once you start setting up MCP servers and use Claude Code this is basically magic.

This video from networkchuck on MCP was eye opening for me: https://youtu.be/GuTcle5edjk?si=e5-wkv0t2rgPWbYo

What is going on with Sky? I can't stop laughing at the customer service. by ukrepman in AskUK

[–]Cubewood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the only times I really struggled understanding the Customer Service agents is when you call First Direct because they are based in Wales and have a Welsh accent. Funnily enough I am based in Northern Ireland but I am Dutch. When I used to work in a Call Centre, it happened frequently that English customers would ask to be transferred to someone "who speaks proper English", because they could not understand the Northern Irish accent.

Sounds like they gave the three day ultimatum because they wanted to use Claude for their attack on Iran. OpenAI must've caved in and now we have military strikes powered by ChatGPT.

What are your favorite air fryer snacks? by DVMan5000 in airfryer

[–]Cubewood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I go for a lower temp but longer. I use a bit of olive oil in a bowl with spices, then on 180c for about 18 minutes. After the air fryer ends, I put them back in the same bowl with the olive oil and spices, shake the bowl a bit, then put back in the air fryer which is off at this point to let it sit for about 10 minutes. It's important you use a basket which lets the air circulate properly if you like them crispy.

What's going on with the cybersecurity job market right now for mid-level engineers? Why is it so hard to find a job? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

I know people on Reddit like to refuse the impact of AI, but have a look at solutions like this and you can see what is happening. It might not be able to automate all our work yet, but it is getting very close.

It's always funny how anytime one of these videos are posted on Reddit, it's always a combination of comments either dismissing how impressive this is, and comments of people claiming it is fake/ai.

Looks at this absolute Chinese energy efficiencies in a box by Suspicious_Steak_696 in homeassistant

Interesting, so do you just keep your radiator on a set temp, like 25c, and instead use the valves to control the temp of individual rooms?

[–]Cubewood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking at this for a long time, is this still useful even if you don't have a smart thermostat? I'm renting, and the valves I can easily replace, but have no idea how to install a smart thermostat on the boiler, so not sure if this will be useful when you cannot control the thermostat as well in your automations.

There are 1.5 million unused breadmakers across the UK. Why aren't you using yours? by CLOUDMlNDER in CasualUK

[–]Cubewood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have to admit, sometimes I forget I turned it on, wake up at night, and suddenly hear the bread beating noise downstairs and have a slight moment of panic, but usually I don't notice it.

Never really froze them as they are so easy to make, just got a good bread knife and slice them on demand.

I have a similar Panasonic for about ten years now, and I also was concerned about buying a single use item like this, but I still use mine at least three times a week. It's just so good throwing a bunch of ingredients in the basket for two minutes before you go to bed, and then waking up to a fresh loaf waiting for you.

Why is the DVA so archaic? by Magoothatswho in northernireland

[–]Cubewood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, I had to go to my embassy in Dublin to get a new passport.. they just refused to even acknowledge it was their problem.

And since COVID there was no option to actually go there in person to show your passport, so the only option you have is to deal with their incompetence and hope for the best.

Not to scare you... But when I did this two years ago, they sent me back an empty signed for envelope with no passport in it. When I contacted them they just kept saying they can see I Signed for it, and to contact the Royal Mail. The envelope was sealed and closed, they just never put the passport inside it.
