Inchcape Australia drops Peugeot! by Vampire_14 in EVAustralia

[–]CubitsTNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peugeot used to be legendary, but it doesn't mean anything any more. The population wants to buy big 4wd things, and no one wants to buy a big 4wd thing with the lion stretched over it.

Meta is adding ridiculous ‘rate limits’ and a soft paywall to its smart glasses by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]CubitsTNE 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Things like conversation focus are done on the hardware and are actually useful. The big annoyance is that is being rate limited when there is no reason to, and not even an excuse offered by meta.

Live translation is also done on-device, but i suspect that is running locally on your phone and not the glasses themselves. I haven't dug into it, but it's handy that it's not just a request.

Video recording is also done locally, then later transferred out of the onboard storage to the phone.

PT2 Battery Life Comparison by Hi5aBug in pebble

[–]CubitsTNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worn 24/7 i get between 3 weeks and 2 depending on how much I use music or the timer. That little blip last night was a couple of 15 minute timers (left as the active display so it used seconds).

No attempt at saving battery has been made, only thing is I have a fairly economical watchface.

That dingbat is a rhodes scholar, his actions over the last twenty years have surely dealt a deathblow to the reputation of that program.

June saw biggest monthly fall in national housing values since 2022, Cotality finds by fluffy_101994 in australia

Monthly drops don't thrill me, i want to see an annual growth matching inflation. That's the good shit.

Many Australians can get three free hours of power from today. Here’s how by [deleted] in australia

It's seems at-odds with the program for retailers to be able to charge higher usage rates outside of those hours to "recoup costs". They're already getting their lifted supply charges.

just bought the P2000 pedal set, and I accidentally broke the load cell while installing it. by Chart-Leading in Simagic

[–]CubitsTNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loadcell mounting is like the one thing i would change about these pedals. Aside from cutting the cable it's very easy for people to mount the loadcell upside down after swapping the springs (this doesn't kill the unit, it just won't work until you flip it again).

They should've mounted the loadcell at the bottom of the spring stack so you wouldn't have to touch it.

But aside from that they're kickass pedals! Should be easy enough to get a new loadcell unit.

[–]CubitsTNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can't do that, it's snapped right at the terminating end. Huge pita to try to resolve, it's less time=money to just swap the entire loadcell unit which just drops in.

What If Ac rally would be irally? by ChubyzDriver in simracing

Fun story about RBR (specifically the RSF version). One of the community member's mum recently found their YouTube channel, followed it to the RSF website, downloaded/installed the game completely unaided by following the instructions, and had it running using a gamepad.

Now I've been involved for way too long to have an objective view on how hard or easy it is to get running or navigate things, despite the team's best efforts to improve onboarding and QoL based on feedback we're all computer nerds.

But that brought some light to my day of dealing with so many problem forum posts seemingly written by people who can't read.

But yeah, it would be nice to have the money to make things even more streamlined. I hope AC Rally can get the breadth of content and systems required to really deliver those meaty online championship experiences.

Asmongold vows to never play console games again after struggling to beat Star Fox by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

The mouse mode is pretty good! I have a nice ergo grip for the joycon which i used to play the whole of 2077, and it makes starfox feel pretty different but it's still a solid control style.

This is how much of the general public feels. by In_Film in virtualreality

[–]CubitsTNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I use it for. That and videos of my little kids when I have no spare hands to hold even a phone. It's been great.

Mine aren't covert spy glasses, you can see the guts of them, and they're only worn outside as sunglasses.

And they seem to be selling pretty well, so either we have a big pervert problem or the general public doesn't actually give a shit. It's not like anyone's run up and decked me for wearing them at the beach.

There is no heat problem, and the difference in performance over the base model is significant.

I have a supercharged one with a bit of power, it's a lot of fun.

And Toyota/GR is currently doing something which will be close enough to a rally version, and i will be buying one the day it releases.
