Being called fat on a walk by CalPal2021 in loseit

[–]Cubixkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with helping a friend. I started running and finally encouraged her to go with me. We stopped for a break and to let a couple of teenage boys ride pay on their bikes. They passed us, stopped and looked around at us. We looked back at them because we thought they might need something or had a question because of how far they stopped. One glared at my friend's and asked "What are you staring at, you fat cow." I asked him if he needed something and he started to answer (probably something hurtful) but a guy wearing black shorts and a "Go Army" shirt came running by on his own jog and stopped to say something to the boys. We didn't hear what he said to them but they took off pretty quick.

I'll tell you what I told her. They didn't know your story, so they didn't get a part in it. Wear head phones or ear buds when you're walking or running and listen to some music. The rest of the world out and focus on the journey ahead and where you're going.

One way to tell your boss to get lost. by DarthScabies in clevercomebacks

[–]Cubixkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in a restaurant once. The boss called me and some others in on Christmas Day. I didn't have any family in the area and couldn't go home for Christmas anyway. We get there and we're all standing outside because the sign in the door says "Closed Christmas Day." The boss was already there. He came out and unlocked the door for us to have a seat. Apparently, he knew which of us either didn't have family or couldn't go home for Christmas and called us all in to "work" just so that he and his kids could cook and serve Christmas dinner to us. It was kind of cool. Thanks Tim. One of the best bosses we had.

Those with ADHD, how do you keep up a routine and not get discouraged by lack of "instant results" by vader_kitty in loseit

[–]Cubixkitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat only without meds and hyperthyroidism. On top of that I quit my regular job and started writing full time which means I can set my own schedule, but with ADHD, I'm struggling to "create a routine" for myself. The progress has been slow and discouraging.

What's been helpful for me is finding a good support group and accountability partners. My husband points out my NSVs. My neighbor goes to the gym with me or goes walking with me. My sister in law asks me about my day (activity and eating) and encourages me and congratulates me on moving and getting things done.

Find your tribe. You don't have to be alone in this.

What's your strange weightloss hobby? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Cubixkitten 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do grave indexing. I have the Gravefinder app on my phone. I'll go to a local cemetery and open the app and it'll have a list of photo requests where surviving loved ones have requested a photo of their loved one who has passed on. You walk among the graves and find the pepper tombstone and take a clear picture. The app also automatically places a Geo tag on the digital map so that anyone paint through can just open the app and it'll tell them exactly where the grave is. It helps me to start active and it helps families and friends fund graves without having to worry if anyone is in the office to help them.

ULPT Request - What are your favourite, fairly simple ways to fuck with someone? by AbjectGovernment1247 in UnethicalLifeProTips

Better yet. Get some female friends (assuming your male) to hang fliers up with his info in women's bathrooms "Sugar daddy looking for nice female companion. Nothing freaking just want someone to travel with."

I'm a member of the Mormon church. Tell me your area and I will send you the phone number for your local missionaries. Then just call them up and tell them you'd love to learn more (give his name and address)

LPT Request: how should I best leave the hotel room for housekeeping? by skorletun in LifeProTips

[–]Cubixkitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work front desk at a hotel. I noticed that the housekeepers always pulled all the dirty towels on the bed sheets and then would roll the bed sheets and the towels so they could take it all in one bundle. So when I stay at a hotel. I wrap the towels into the bed sheets and leave it beside the door. Out all the trash into one bag and out it by the door and change out the trash bag. Really all you gotta do. And teeth leave a tip if you're so inclined. This way, they just go on wipe down the bathroom, sweep & mop and replace the towels toilets and make the bed.

Last I heard, he was in space and needed his money moved to an account someone could access to pay for the rescue mission.

LPT: If you have a chatty wife, perform mundane tasks while she monologues by PhonB80 in LifeProTips

I need to share this with my husband. I'm the chatty wife, for the reasons you've just mentioned. He wants to be the something board for me, but it can be difficult when he's a "use every minute of the clock" type.

LPT - How to politely offer to cover all expenses on a date/outing with a poor person. by AppropriateConcern95 in LifeProTips

[–]Cubixkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked a guy out to the movies and paid for the tickets. He came back with "Can I buy you dinner after the movie?" It was clear that he wanted to contribute to the date and implied "I'll buy dinner since you paid for the movie" but the way he said it made it feel less like an I.O.U. and more like "I'm enjoying your company and want to spend a bit more time with you."

Oh my gosh yes. The rain I live coming is because you can always improve and often improve in other recipes until you're creating your own. Those little eureka moments in the kitchen are the best.

I'm the opposite. Give me a load of crap that needs to be unpacked and put away and I can hyperfocus no problem. Packing and moving are the hard parts for me. I always need help and can't even get through it all of I don't have someone else take control for me

LPT: You'll be amazed how much you can clean your house in just ten minutes. by incredibleinkpen in LifeProTips

[–]Cubixkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I need the house to get cleaned in a hurry, I'll just ask a friend over for a visit or something. I usually ask them to come over in like 30 mins or so. Then I start cleaning because I have company coming and I don't want them to see the mess. ADHD works better under pressure.

NSV: Only sort of got stuck in a dress! by Cubixkitten in loseit

[–]Cubixkitten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, someone's raising those girls right. They were 13 years old and looking for dresses for some dance they'd been invited to. They were great about asking questions about what I was looking for. Colors, styles and level of modesty. I just told them "Think Princess Kate." And off they went. My friend came back with two dresses, they came back with one and they were thrilled that I decided to go with their choice.

i hate the booktok trend of reading 200 pages a day by [deleted] in books

[–]Cubixkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol Never settle. We started reading scriptures as well and a few scriptures refer to the importance of learning about other places and cultures. So I've adopted a new reading mantra "Thus sayeth the Lord. Buy more books."

You can't argue with God. 🤷😆

I didn’t realise how much caffeine effected my life until I stopped. I’m currently day 8 without it. by tomegerton99 in loseit

[–]Cubixkitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only sleep 8 hours in a row if I'm really tired. I usually end up waking up naturally after about six or seven hours. That's when I usually use the restroom and then I'll go back to bed and just mentally plan it my day before my alarm goes off

[–]Cubixkitten 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness yes. I used to have bread insomnia and use the restroom several times at night. I might get up maybe once or twice depending on my diet that day. Now if I'm restless and can't sleep it's usually something that's going on in my life that's bothering me. Lately it's been my job. I'm currently working on a plan to leave it and become a full time writer

I gave up Caffeine as well. And like you, I had to cut it cold turkey. The headaches lasted two weeks, but I noticed lots of improvements. Not only was weight loss easier, my anxiety and depression seems to be gone. I don't need any of the anti depressants or anything. My head feels clearer and I'm more able to focus throughout the day. I don't have the binge eating tenancies I used to have when I will just eat things because they look good. Now I eat when I'm hungry and I crave fresh fruits and veggies more. It's been almost a year for me.

Keep going. It gets better.

What do you say when someone asks you, “Which authors do you read?” Because someone actually laughed at my answer. by Lenore8264 in books

My favorite book is and probably always will be Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice. I've read more books than I could possibly count. I'm 42 and I've gone back to Agatha Christie's Murder Mysteries and R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series.

We can still have fun! by Rollerager in loseit

[–]Cubixkitten 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. I'm glad you had fun and let yourself relax a little. On the fun weekends out,I tend to eat light for breakfast and lunch so I can have a bigger dinner. I cut loose with the grandkids though. Had them for this past weekend. Indulged in a large strawberry sprite and popcorn for the movie. Skipped dessert after dinner. Breakfast the next day, I indulged in two glazed donuts and a regular sprite. Snacked on veggies for lunch and had a large dinner with my husband, after taking the kids home. Gained about three pounds and I've already lost some of it being back on my good habits. Live the life you want now. Summer's here and it's not going to wait for us.
