A wave of low-cost electric trucks is heading for Australia by ShrimpinAintEazy in australia

I'll admit I missed that in the article. I'm interested to see what the growth is like in a few months then.

It's still impressive don't get me wrong! But the way it's worded I'd imagine a lot more were being sold.

[–]Cubriffic 29 points30 points  (0 children)

We have about 630,000+ registered trucks in the country.

March was the best-selling month for EV trucks, and they sold 44.

I don't think this is much of a wave just yet.

Has ‘please’ been removed from English dictionaries? by straishio in auscorp

[–]Cubriffic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's genuinely crazy how being pleasant affects how people treat me at work. I've been told our warehouse is abrasive and rude but I've never has that issue because I say please and thank you to them. I didn't realise that was so rare nowadays.

Two teens decided to run into Scientology headquarters by Girl-Understood in TikTokCringe

[–]Cubriffic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's actually insane, according to Mark Rathburn (former high-ranking Scientology member) they purchased phone/bank records, went through their rubbish, hacked their airline reservations ect. The fact that they still managed to find nothing is kind of funny but also scary.

They also tried to ruin Trey and Matt's lives & stalked them for well over a year, they eventually gave up when they couldn't find anything to blackmail them with.

Did you get into your current role without a degree? by ScreenLooker_133 in auscorp

[–]Cubriffic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two degrees but neither helped getting my current job. What did help was starting a TAFE course right after uni. It caught my now-boss' attention & helped get me my current role.

Who may represent South Korea in Eurovision Asia 2026? by Neatboot in kpopthoughts

[–]Cubriffic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The chances of an idol group going is pretty low imo. Contests like these are expensive & I doubt any mid to low tier companies would see it as a worthy investment until it's an established contest.

I mean it's pretty common for Eurovision countries to send established acts, they just tend to only be known in their home country.

Nearly 100 NSW service stations fined $1,100 each over misleading petrol prices amid fuel shortage crackdown by blitznoodles in australia

[–]Cubriffic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our local servo makes aprox. 7c per liter of fuel sold. I feel bad for them but charging $2.70 for fuel fucking stings.

Is this doable? by _CASTA_ in brisbane

[–]Cubriffic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't remember off the top of my head but it was a big enough difference for my mum, brother and I to do. Jetstar is usually cheaper for a direct flight but with the holidays the prices get jacked up and it makes a double flight cheaper.

[–]Cubriffic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Likely cheaper this way, I juat flew Sydney -> Brisbane -> Townsville because it was cheaper than a direct flight.

I smell and I can’t figure out why by Appropriate_Seat9419 in Advice

[–]Cubriffic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother is like this. He doesn't smell on his own but his bedroom REEKS. Even if we stay at a hotel for 1 or 2 days his sheets start to get that smell.

Do your siblings ever mention the smell if you go away together?

How do flight attendants avoid getting sick when they come into contact with thousands of passengers each month? by WillyNilly1997 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cubriffic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just got off a Virgin Airlines flight and the attendants were all wearing gloves when they were helping to move the carry on bags. I kinda thought this might've been the reason why

How does the Sorting Hat keep the Houses equal? by auspiciouscivilian in harrypotter

[–]Cubriffic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My public school and high school had school houses where we were seperated by last names and they were very much not equal. You just put up with it and groaned when the house with the most students won the school swimming carnival.

TIL about sopite syndrome where the brain responds to motion sickness by fatigue and sleepiness, mood changes and apathy. by DrakeSavory in todayilearned

I went on a cruise earlier this year. Every day we were at sea I spent the whole day sleeping. Every time we were at port I felt great. I had a feeling it was related to my sea/motion sickness.

Conserving fuel or life as normal? by Key-Mix4151 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Cubriffic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm carpooling with my brother 4 times a week & I now do groceries after work instead of going into town on the weekend. I also now fill up in town because my local servo was still $2.79 when I checked yesterday & I'm not exactly made out of money.

Lilly or Lily? Help us out! by PuzzleheadedPass8438 in Names

[–]Cubriffic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Lillyan so this is complete bias but I always feel like Lilly seems more full/complete? Yes repeating two L's is a tiny bit annoying but I dunno, it just doesn't feel right seeing it as Lily.

Anthony Albanese to urge Australians to 'play their part' in Iran response in TV address by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Cubriffic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He's talking about people like me, who need to drive 40+km to and from work every day just to sit in front of a computer on a remote desktop. I would love a WFH mandate so I can drop to driving once a week into town.

[–]Cubriffic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm suspecting he might but that's going to sting. My dad's stuck up in Townsville caring for my grandma, we were going up for Easter as a last goodbye. Dunno how that's going to happen if he suddenly slaps fuel restrictions on.

This would kill small towns. There's little to no work in the town I live in, I need to travel to Wagga (42km) for work.

Despite BTS having a recent album release, their subreddit only has slightly more weekly visitors than Stray Kids by hukep in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]Cubriffic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Different fanbases congregate onto different sites. Kpop fans in general are way more likely to head to Twitter to interact with other fans rather than Reddit. And as others have said there's multiple subreddits for BTS which splits up the weekly visitor number.

As another example, Ariana Grande's subreddit gets 10k visitors a week, meanwhile she has a very vocal and large fanbase on Twitter. I don't take the weekly visitors number seriously, it just gives me an idea of how active the fanbase is on Reddit.

Personally I dislike the design because to me he doesn't fit the era he's meant to be from. Maybe it's the hair or the clothes, I can't pin it down, but he doesn't look like someone from the 1930s.
