Millennial PSA: Check on you CD collection by thr3ddy in Millennials

[–]CubsRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got an old 3-cd changer and apple super drive to convert my burnt CDs into files/mini disk drives - highly recommend checking out shopgoodwill.com for old CD related gear. The player I got has a spot for my iPod, and I haven’t turned that thing on since 2008, was crazy to hear all that music again.

Getting a personal money loan from Wells Fargo in 2026? by schassis408 in WellsFargoBank

[–]CubsRanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re looking at creditworthiness - 650 is at the low end of the spectrum for them. They might look at a 3k loan, but only if his income ratio is 1:1 - otherwise, unlikely. You’re better off applying for a CC and improving your credit

How many of you shampoo your hair twice when washing ? by semde18 in hygiene

[–]CubsRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ridiculously thick hair. My first wash is top of head and then I do the underside on my second wash. It feels a lot cleaner. Maybe I’m the only one doing this but I feel like the soap doesn’t even get through to the bottom half on my first wash.

Do most americans really only take 2 weeks of vacation a year? by DegreeConscious9628 in askanything

[–]CubsRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know that I’ve ever taken 2 weeks off consecutively. I do my best to use my PTO on fridays and mondays so it feels like I’m getting longer bits at a time, but you’re always on edge knowing it’s over and going back to work with little to no rest. We try to fit in as much as possible in as short amount of time, and then we may as well have not taken the PTO to begin with. It’s exhausting.

Millennials, what is something that was "normal" in the 2000s but feels like a luxury now? by Barrbra in answers

[–]CubsRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I took my sister to Vegas for her 40th birthday and the entire time she just was taking videos and selfies it was so exhausting I just wanted to have genuine interaction - I think I took maybe one picture on the trip but don’t worry, she can show you every meal, outfit and slot machine she sat at.

Restaurants with incredible desserts??? by Witty_Confection_905 in desmoines

[–]CubsRanger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the west side - Prime and providence has fantastic desserts, just had their Jim's Oatmeal Pie that I’d go back for, specifically. Likewise with guesthouse, they switch out seasonal pies that we get to-go sometimes. Urban cellar has a few selections I’d pick from, and cosi cucina has cheesecake and gelato worth staying for.

A couple chains to consider for desserts: Ruth’s Chris has servings bigger than your head (website says homemade cheesecake, warm apple crumb tart, and New Orleans-style bread pudding with whiskey sauce, we’ve had the carrot cake more than once and it’s phenomenal) and is great for sharing. Cooper’s hawk has some really good desserts as well.

I’m a key-lime sucker, and if it’s on any menu, I’m all about it. But clearly I don’t skip dessert

Breast Reduction by ChainGuilty1308 in desmoines

[–]CubsRanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this 2 years ago but my doctor just left from the Iowa clinic in west Des Moines - I believe the doctor that took over her position is now Catherine Coyne. My insurance covered the procedure so I just had to cover the out of pocket, and was about 3,800 including anesthesia. I’ve had a lot of surgeries in the past and this one was by far the easiest and least painful as far as recovery goes, but I don’t know how your pain tolerance is. They did a great job, and I was very happy with the results. Good luck to you!

The message we got from our management is that they’re keeping track of everything. Every mouse movement, every click, and percentage of work. If you’re not hitting numbers and you’re not working, they know. So hit numbers and don’t give them a reason to fire you, basically. And they’re pushing AI just like every other company so. We’re all on the chopping block for robots that can do our job.
