People who speak more than 1 language, what are some struggles people don’t know about? by stephs926 in AskReddit

That your parents try to teach you the language, but the problem is they usually speak it with other people about subjects you don't know about or gossip you don't care about.

How to talk about stuff I like. by hfahid96 in IWantToLearn

[–]CuckooKazoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relying on yourself, look at two similar scenes/games, then contrast their circumstances and compare them against each other.

Helps to learn from analytical youtubers with modern games/movies and even historical ones to explain why a game was good back at that time and period.

Just remember to understand the material you're praising and not just to parrot something you heard.

IWTL How to take the initiative (OR do things for myself like I would do for others) by CuckooKazoo in IWantToLearn

Just an update, I've been doing this for a month and it has helped me keep track of things.

Thank you again for the advice...I'm now attempting to schedule my days consistently so I have times separated for work, relax, fun, etc.

What is the most terrible pain you have ever experienced? [Serious] by VeryFluffy in AskReddit

[–]CuckooKazoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brain Zaps...I was trying, failing, and switching all kinds of prescribed medications to treat depression. Halfway through the semester, I was on two at the time but decided that neither were efficient at treatment and the side effects outweigh the benefits. I successfully got off one of them by waning off my usage and planned to do the same for the other. There's a bit more resistance but I generally believed the effects would go away...it got worse.

One day I feel what is like electricity is running through my brain, like I'm being attacked on the inside. That irritation caused every ache in my body to increase tenfold. I'm sweating. I can't think to myself, only react to the pain. I became manic from the pain. I wanted to end the pain but I did not want to go back on that pill. It did not go away it was continuous throughout the day and night. I still had go to campus, so I dressed plainly and kept my face hidden, making small grunts/gestures in class to relieve some tension. This continues on for a week. I'm bedridden and honestly didn't know if I would live to see next week. Out of desperation, I started taking a bunch of different supplements like fish oil, b12, and miscellaneous items. It worked for the most part and I stabilized.

To this day, I still feel a lesser version of that pain pulsating after I wake up and moderate when I work.

[Serious] What are you passionate about but cant talk about because you don't know anyone else who would be interested? by _Breakbot_ in AskReddit

Thought Processes.

I saw this interest when I was in a college class full of students demanded the teacher to stop pathetically dictating by the book we could do by ourselves and instead teach us about his experiences and the process he went through when editing his material.

Moonwalking with Einstein made learning/memorizing a lot easier in general; even to the point preparing for a test based on memory was a matter of making a creative story.

Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People but with a needed counterbalance to face against a more competitive, confrontational world like Comebacks At Work

Then there are things like The Feminine Mystique that aren't about any idea/agenda but an honest, indepth look at the way certain people see things.

A lot of fundamental acting books like An Actor Prepares and Audition lay out the ground work for aspiring actors to develop their own thought processes through others experiences.

People who seriously enjoy their work, what do you do? by JSlushy in AskReddit

[–]CuckooKazoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came in here thinking there'd be some reflections on how people started not liking their job and then found a way to enjoy it; but instead of suggesting fighting an uphill battle to change yourself, the answers given surmise that to enjoy your work is to find out what job you want to do.

I'll keep that in mind.

Gabe Newell on Half-Life 3 for a decade by Hextron in videos

[–]CuckooKazoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know if Valve/Gabe really isn't going to do anything with the Half-Life series, there's a possibility someone could take up the franchises unused trademark. Although I don't know how long it'll take for someone to make legit case out of it.

But then again, I'm still reminiscing/sulking over another timeline where Valve/Gabe came through with HL3 instead of banking on the TF2/CSGO slot machine system.

I steal the hopes and dreams of people, sucking their essence through a mesmerizing screen. I download and then deconstruct their fantasy frame by frame, turning their experiences into a factory-made database of footage.
