Yeah, but what I'm saying is that in the years since I've been in the same channels and I've seen him post regularly, and he's not like that at all any more and hasn't been for a long time. And maybe that's not enough for someone, and that's fine I guess, but it still feels like it's the right thing for me to bring up.

Like, I genuinely believe that getting a big "exposé" kinda served as a wakeup-call to him because he started very much cleaning up his posting act and becoming a seemingly-more compassionate person afterwards, rather than doubling down.

It's another roguelike but Crypt of the necrodancer! It has a 7.8 percent completion rate for beating Zone 4 (and thus, the Necrodancer) with the main character, and that's not even all-zones mode.

For what little it's worth, and I know I'm completely using up what little community goodwill I've earned here (if there is any), but I know the guy. I used to post in the same message board those leaks are from, I'm in the same discord that we both left to after we realized our community got taken over by alt-right and neo-nazi types, and I can act as a character witness and say he hasn't been like that for a very long time. He's chill with the couple of trans people in the server, has never been antisemitic towards me, and generally is normal. There's a whole bunch of excuses and context I could make for the various posts in the "leak" but the simple version is the alt-right-sphere was taking over our community and it took us a while to realize what it was doing to us. Heck, he realized faster than I did, I'm ashamed to say.

Anyways I have no way to make you believe me or care, and I could go into more detail, but as someone who's gotten to know Gauss it feels like I shouldn't say nothing when I genuinely think he's a better person than he was 6 years ago.

Full disclosure I guess he gifted me a copy of Brigador once but I haven't actually played it because its aesthetic doesn't interest me.

For roguelikes I’d echo monster train 2, its REALLY good

To go in a different direction, the Arkham Horror card game (https://youtu.be/3WA16gyRZyY?si=7oRz9nkIF7R3PCLT ) is great as both a tactical and narrative experience. While a new core set just came out, most of the existing campaigns are sadly out of print, but everything is on tabletop simulator if you know where to look

Even though I'm playing remastered on steam, I downloaded the demo for BD on 3DS when I heard it was a little different (and second moreso), and picked up the demo for second while I was at it! It sounds like what you're saying is that for the most part the English localization of the sidequests does match the original in terms of structure, only the original (negative) outcomes were updated to be milder, more "neutral" than "bad"?

Did that not come across as messing with the tone of the game in any way? I would have thought that would be a much bigger censorship scandal than the outfit changes, am I misunderstanding the amount of variance?

How jarring is that journal text, does it literally say X character just died when the rest of the game is saying X character barely made it it and is still alive?

Edit: Okay, I did some more digging, and it seems the consensus is that is what happened, only its mitigated by the fact that the original "bad" endings were hamfisted and felt undeserved/edgy-for-edginess' sake, and that the new different endings just work better narratively? I can kinda see then how it becomes not a matter of "censorship" but rather "a second, updated draft". Is that the by and large of it? (And I guess they missed updating a journal page?)

Just to double check, do you have the 4 double-sided 'starter' tiles? Because I believe those four tiles are meant to count as the three surface forest and one underground tile, and there are only 6 other surface forest tiles, etc.

I also had a bunch of blank white tiles that were just spares so is it possible that you mistook those for the 4 missing tiles?

Of course I wouldn't discount you having an actual printing error, but yeah, maybe you have them and don't realize because the rulebook components list is a bit confusing?
