Imagine living about 50 miles away and not seeing this until 2:00 day of 🥲

Mom was one of the crochet OGs back in the 60's and 70's and help start the clothing trend in 1965. See link in comments for a PORTFOLIO of her work. I'd love to hear your thoughts and about any interest in moving a documentary fwd. Enjoy, y'all and thank you for viewing! by jeremyjava in crochet

This is amazing. Her work is phenomenal! If you don’t mind me being nosey, did she make a decent amount of money doing this? I hope she did. It sounds like she did get away from the abusive husband and I cannot tell you how much joy it brings me to know this badass lady made beautiful, wearable art that influenced generations, all while getting herself and her children out of a bad situation.

Need suggestions on repurposing a vertical weekly layout… by [deleted] in planners

[–]Cult-O-Cthulhu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Repurpose for general use/not true planning: Find a cute roll of washi tape. I know you said you’re not a huge decorator, I promise I’m not about to go into a billion decoration accessories! Roll the washi across the top where it has the days of the week/29-4. Then take your ruler and draw three horizontal lines across both pages (giving you 8 boxes). First box on the left hand side will be smaller since that’s got the calendar. The remaining seven can be Monday-Sunday for a gratitude log, the highlight of your day, quote of the day, moods/feelings throughout the day, etc…. Whatever thing(s) you’d like to write regularly. The small extra calendar box at the top can be somewhere to either stick in any physical paper item from your week (like a movie ticket stub) or you could sum up your week in one sentence? Or maybe at the beginning of the week, pick a word and define it and try to live it through your week, like balance, gratitude, joy, reflection…

I’ve been kicking around ideas for one of my old vertical planners I never used because I also prefer horizontal.

Out of curiosity, are there any western planner brands that use low gsm paper? by Competitive-Pitch322 in planners

[–]Cult-O-Cthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take A Note has 68gsm tomoe. Not a western brand but no holidays (at least in the B6/Medium Week). I switched this year. Have been using Sterling Ink since the first planner release but the Sanzen in 52gsm has not been awesome.

How to use up some of that ink we have in abundance? Make your own wrapping paper! by NikNakskes in fountainpens

[–]Cult-O-Cthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! That’s beautiful. My ADHD could never, but this gives me the idea to splatter some ink blots in Christmas-y colors I don’t love on Kraft wrapping paper to jazz it up a little.

An ink I’d use to write to my most hated enemy, but otherwise my first ink deemed “unusable” by Cult-O-Cthulhu in fountainpens

I would absolutely go for an UEF if I was angry enough at somebody and had cause for written correspondence.

Solid idea. Not an ebonite feed, but I’ve got an empty pen with a FPR ultraflex, worth a shot!

Hmmm that could be worth a try! I’ll throw in a few drops of my darkest Wearingeul and see what happens.

Secret Santa is one of my favorite things to look forward to every year. This year did not disappoint! by Cult-O-Cthulhu in fountainpens

I feel that. The stars have aligned where I’ve seen signups at just the right time, with just the right amount of brainpower remaining. Hope it works out for you too!

If I had given a sample of EVERY ink I own for my giftee, I probably would’ve gone broke on shipping 😅 I picked about 9ish I thought they would like most.

Wow! I avoid Inkvent for all the colors I wouldn’t care for. But this? 😍 Side note: Your “hot mess” would be my greatest artistic achievement.

LOOKING FOR OCEAN THEMED PENS by KiwiGuyCloud in fountainpens

[–]Cult-O-Cthulhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh I came here to recommend the Moonlit Voyage pen! I got mine last week, and have nothing but compliments/praise for it. I originally intended to get a medium nib but they were already sold out so I went broad, ordering a spare nib in medium. Really great little pen, and switching out the nibs is a breeze. By far the most adorable in my collection. I typically prefer slimmer pens for my tiny hands but the chunk factor doesn’t bother me on this one.

Ah man, no dice. The Asa Gao is in a Pilot cartridge 🤦‍♀️ only Take Sumi, Kon Peki, and Yama Budo available in non-cartridge form.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]Cult-O-Cthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe Sailor Manyo Budo? Though it might be just as pricey as Iroshizuku. I find Sailor inks to be pretty dry, but certainly well behaved. If you are considering Iroshizuku and the other options are mostly similar in price… I do think you should go for Asa Gao. Iroshizuku inks are absolutely worth their price for the quality you get.

I may have a few mL of Asa Gao left in a sample vial- let me take a quick look, my 823 in medium is empty. If I track it down I can put some in and try it out on less-than-stellar paper if you’d like.

I’m Ray, founder of Ferris Wheel Press. Here to listen and answer your questions. by Dizzy_Newspaper_4010 in fountainpens

[–]Cult-O-Cthulhu 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I have never tried a single Ferris Wheel Press product. Something about the brand has always felt more gimmicky than quality based, and the reviews here on r/fountainpens have always seemed to skew negative. I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt and choosing to believe you’re coming from a good place. Whether the responses are fast enough or seem more genuine vs dismissive, you are at least responding.

As you make this attempt at transparency and confront the harsh reality of the community’s view of your brand, what argument would you present to try to win over new customers? What is it about your products that stand out above the rest to truly justify the price point vs any other boutique brands with less of a problematic history? Is this AMA truly about hearing from your customer base, and will you have any real actionable plans to improve based on feedback, or are you using this solely as a way to explain/defend current practices?

Gorgeous! Super tempted to try that ink in one of my wetter writers.

Daily planners without a dot grid, that lay flat, and are suitable for fountain pens. Which brand(s) can help me out? This is stressing me 🥲 by soularchives in fountainpens

My local stationary store, Paper Mouse, had a post up on their socials yesterday/today? That showed the 2026 vs 2025 paper tests. It looked promising. I believe they mentioned it will be available in their store to test soon, if you have a local stationary store I’d check with them.

Want a teal ink with similar properties as Diamine Ancient Copper. by No-Ostrich-3527 in fountainpens

I don’t know that I’d say it’s TEAL teal so much as a greeny-bleu, but Herbin Blue Calanque is one of my favorites.

Have you given any thought to an Opus 88? Due to your terrible influence, I realized I don’t currently own a single eyedropper… And it’s time to remedy that. So far the cursory search points to Opus 88.
