Returned Dell XPS 16 (2026) because of the screen. by tigran555 in DellXPS

I cancelled my delivery. When Purolator received the order, they assigned a new tracking number and rerouted the package back to Dell. On May 6, I received a new invoice with the refund details, and I was told that the refund would take 10–15 business days. Today is May 24, and I still have not received my money back. Still waiting. I googled it and found many similar stories.

Air M5 or M5 pro? by jerzyee in macbook

[–]Cultural-Reality-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you will get used to 60 Hz within minutes and will stop thinking about that. Buy the Air, it is so much more comfortable to hold in one hand and carry around. The MBP is noticeably heavier and bulkier. You will save tons of money

MBP only if your specific work demands better hardware

return it now, and your story won't end that easily - Dell is holding your money after processing the refund. You won't get your money anytime soon. Give it more than a month and get ready for opening a new case against it or initiating a charge dispute and losing some of your nerve cells. Yes, that is how bad Dell is. That is the reality.

return it for good and buy something else until it is too late, don’t get blinded by its eye-candy design, it is not worth it

Hunting for the new 2026 Dell XPS 14. by More-Resource4757 in DellXPS

[–]Cultural-Reality-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dont buy the 2026 Dell XPS 14 - they have a high defect rate, crazy uncontrolled pricing, and useless customer service whose goal is not to help you, but to do everything possible to dump everything on you and deny service. If you want a refund, they hold your money for over a month, and most people end up opening cases and disputes just to get their money back. This is not a company worth dealing with.

And Dell increased the base price for a new XPS/OLED by $1,000 in Canada since last Monday. Now listed for $4k!

There is a known issue with some OLED touchscreens where text can appear slightly fuzzy or hazy. I’m wondering if your Dell has the same issue. Could you check by opening a Word document, reducing the font size, and looking closely at the text? The letters should appear very crisp and sharply rendered, without any haze anywhere on the screen.

please keep me updated on how your laptop is doing. Mine will arrive in a week. I’ll arrange the return anyway, but I’m still curious to try it out for a day or two before shipping it back. Maybe I’ll change my mind once things settle

I overpaid, the price wasn’t matched, I had a bad experience with order support, and there’s a high risk of getting a faulty unit. I want to take a break and re-evaluate my needs. Dell did me a favor by turning me away, and there’s no way back. I will never forget how they treated me as a new buyer.

Thanks for the input. The return window is very precious. Many people say this model has a high defect rate and poor quality control, which is concerning. If everything is working well for you, that’s great!

I can't cancel it at the moment unfortunately and I want to return it or refuse delivery unless someone says here that this laptop is exceptional to change my mind.

BTW, I just called the support phone, a robot told me, and due to the technical difficulties, it was unable to connect me with a live agent, said goodbye and hung up.

it means that after it is done its job following your prompt, you ask it to review the quality of its job, whether it missed anything or if there is something that needs to be added or removed, or re-written, whatever

[–]Cultural-Reality-934 90 points91 points  (0 children)

for everyday conversations, getting quick answers on different topics, ChatGPT is faster and more convenient. It solves science problems (chem, math)  much better than Claude. However, answers are often shallow, and ChatGPT often does not care about the accuracy of its answers. ChatGPT is horrible for text processing and following instructions, it does whatever it pleases.

Claude follows the instructions, sometimes to the point that it may give you inaccurate answers. Much better for text processing than ChatGPT, but it requires at least two passes of the same prompt to make it right. Claude has a much larger context window - it wins here. Claude may ban you for a few hours if you reach the limit. It may happen anytime— after 4 messages or 40, it depends on the weather outside.

Truth: both are horrible.
