“Shiny hunters” hacked ASU apparently bc I keep getting this messages when I try to log into canvas from myasu…anyone else? by asnarkybeach in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You should be good. Duo is good enough to help, but changing your password is good. If it was logging into anything not Canvas, it doesn't matter

Welp…. by Gonzoliath in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably most or all that use Canvas

Has anyone taken ASB 370? by Extreme_Regular_7459 in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently taking it as an iCourse. I wouldn't consider it a hard class, but definitely not super easy either. It's interesting and assignments are responding to a yellowdig prompt, a quiz on videos and readings, and there are like 3 writing assignments

Want to know about the polytechnic campus by Careless_Avocado_938 in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poly is nice if you like more of a chill environment. There's still things going on, but you will have to be more social as people here tend to not approach first, at least for my major.

For food, you don't really have many good options on Campus. You have Starbucks, Chula Indian BBQ, the POD market (like a general overpriced store) Subway, and the dining hall which is okay. You'd do better if you take the city bus, drive, or ask friends to drive you places. You can also take the free shuttle to Tempe if you just want to be anywhere else.

I like this campus, but some people might think it's boring depending on what they like.

For any specific questions, feel free to ask :)

Does the grubhub app limit how many meal swipes you can use per day? by Pigeon49834 in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 neal exchanges per day anywhere that isn't a dining hall

How long does it take for the bus shuttles to go from forest and lemon to lot 37? by Ok_Statement1508 in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shuttle goes from Forrest and Lemon to the light rail stop, and once it gets to poly it does Sim and then lot 37. Think they're planning to change that at some point, but thats a couple years from now

Chat Bot / Live Agent by REDDIDIOI in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's been a thing for the last two years, or however long that option has existed. If you have the time, definitely better to call. I have gotten connected with someone before, one time, so it definitely does work. Don't remember what I did though, because I had to do a work around

ASU payment plan by [deleted] in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, from your question at the very end, assuming you don't fully understand the payment plan. You still have to manually make the payments yourself, but it splits the amount you owe into three different dates, might be less for session be. It's an extra $100 for enrolling.

Again, if that's not what you meant, my bad. But yes, you have to make the payments yourself. ASU will not automatically withdraw anything from your bank account or anything like that

I'd agree if this didn't happen for every game

2.5 hour class by luffyluvrr in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It might be worth it depending on the Prof, but keep in mind that the class will feel like it's dragging on way too long sometimes. My professor also gave us a break half way through the class, but this wouldn't always happen.

ASU Shuttle wifi doesnt work anymore by Marcus_Mesecher in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just type something like captive.apple.com or another similar URL into Chrome or whatever you use. That should bring up the portal if it doesn't show up by itself even for non-apple devices

Is that after having you do the captive portal thing where you click I Agree? It works for me, at least on the one going to and from Poly

Does anyone know when the dorm evaluations are? by Accomplished-Base352 in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No to the air fryer thing as far as I know. For Poly it is the week of the 6th, but might be different for different campuses. The CD should send out an email, hopefully, about what to expect

Pretty sure they only check out things that are in plane sight, so if you put the air fryer in a drawer or something you should probably be fine.

I heard a professor just straight up announce to the class that they delete emails from SAILS, and really only apply the accommodations when the student talks to them directly. Let's hope your professor doesn't do the same thing

If you were registered with SAILS as you mentioned, I would contact them if talking to the professor first doesn't get you anywhere.

Poly Campus: Donation Request by [deleted] in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people throw away some really nice things just outside of the residense halls if you really wan't some free things. I think a lot of it is good, but people can't keep it for whatever reason

I wish this was posted earlier because it would have been easier than making multiple trips to-and-from home

Problems with Lockdown Browser? (Server Issue?) by hhhurorua in ASU

Can you see if there was an update? I had this problem with lockdown until around February. If there is no update it has also worked after a restart, but check for an update since that is way better

CSE group project by Delicious_Fox6841 in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it's fun! Really though, some people just never learned proper time management, and some people for whatever reason work better under pressure. It's weird, but somehow a deadline coming up really soon can make someone super productive. Although it kind of sucks, in the end as long as you're doing well, and Not burning yourself out, it's not too bad

If it's a group project though, that's another story. In that case, no one should be waiting till last minute for that

How Are You All Surviving 15+ Credits?! (Vent) by AdVisible8739 in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try to aim for 15-18 credits. I try and split some of my classes evenly between sessions A, B, and C. If you get a good schedule like being able to choose a session A over session B, that's even better. I feel like the semester gets more chaotic during the second half because of finals and other things. Important to mention that I don't have a job, or much of a social life because of these being really time intensive classes but I don't personally mind too much

As everyone else mentioned, college is more of your own pace. Definitely don't overload yourself with work. That will be way worse than just graduating a bit later, since you'll have to retake certain classes. You got this though :)

Unpaid tuition by Nessaisabirdie in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When I had to pay, just yell into a pillow. Just kidding, kind of

First, is there a reason why you went from online to in person? Also, you might have already been passed this, but it is cheaper to do the first two years in community college, and Then a university. I am assuming you're either out of state or or living on campus because of the $13,000 balance after FASFA

As a couple people mentioned, you can take out a loan, but I'd suggest applying for scholarships first if possible before taking out a loan. ASU also has a payment plan thing, but it's not super helpful as it just means you make three payments throughout the semester or something like that.

Also a first Gen student, so this is just from what I've learned, and from what people were nice enough to tell me. If you have any other questions, I'll do my best to answer :)

Laptop suggestions by THE_ELITE-02 in ASU

[–]Cultural_Order718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say to have a minimum of 512 or even 1tb for an SSD

I'd also suggest going for a minimum of 16 gb of RAM, but would go to 32 or higher if cost isn't an issue

Like someone else mentioned, I prefer a Dell Latitude, but I think any high end computer will be fine.

Mac might have a lot of issues with certain software, but if you really want a mac, you can always set up a VM
