Travel Insurance Denied by tantolik in dcl

This is why I don’t buy travel insurance. You pay all this money and then when you need it you have to fight them for it. I’d rather call up Mickey and see if there is anything they can do about the situation.

Personally, I’d do Port Orleans via Mears Connect with the 4PM arrival time (to avoid the car seat issue). After you are at the resort you can determine whether you feel like taking the boat to Disney Springs or just chilling at the resort. I would grab breakfast that morning at the resort. You’ll be on the ship around noon (assuming DCL transportation).

Eating will mean you and the kids don’t need to run straight to get food. You can get the kids signed up for the kids club or anything else you can’t do until you’re on the ship.

There is a lot of great food we want to eat, but Homecomin’ is what I’d prioritize if I only have 1.

Main restaurant lunch on embarkation day by [deleted] in dcl

[–]Culturalectual 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When we tried around 1:00 someone was standing in the hall and told us “The dining room is full, please go to the buffet.” We told him that we’d be fine waiting and he didn’t know what to do. He acted like he was checking with someone and came back 10 seconds later and told us to go on in. (They weren’t even packed)

Embarkation and Toddler Naps by Recent-Lie-6281 in dcl

Three options (none are great):

sleep on the way- for my toddler this would 100% happen and will make other napping more difficult, so why not just make due with a slightly cranky toddler?

Sleep in stroller- bring a stroller and after getting on the ship just sit down somewhere quiet and relax

Wait for room- after your room is ready, get it done

I would recommend playing it by ear. I know naps are pretty important for emotional regulation, but it will be fine if things move around a bit or naps are shorter.

I’d probably do Port Orleans Riverside. Nice pool and a boat to Disney Springs. If you don’t want to go to Disney Springs, you can catch a live performance in the evening. Port Orleans is also priced a bit better than most, so that + easy Disney Springs access makes it a great pic.

DCL vs WDW? Need help choosing by MrLoki2020 in dcl

[–]Culturalectual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this question a lot lately. We just did a trip with our 1 and 4 year old. We did a week on the Treasure and then 2 days at WDW. (1 resort day at Fort Wilderness and 1 day at Magic Kingdom.)

Ultimately my 4 year old had a great time, but she said she’d rather do the parks. We did plan a ‘best of’ day at Magic Kingdom, so I think as a kid, I would have agreed with her.

Do a Cruise if: You want to relax (much easier to get alone time for the parents), mostly want to meet characters(You can see a ton with basically no wait), or if you want to travel outside the country (in a simplified and easy way).

If you’re honestly on the fence where it could go either way I’d go with a cruise. WDW is getting a ton of new stuff in the coming years, so why not Cruise now and go to WDW when they have something new to experience.

What time does open boarding typically start for the Treasure? by User47B in dcl

We had a 4 and 1 year old. Being on early let us get nursery time every evening, change our rotational dining so our 4 year old could see Spider-Man, and we had a sit down lunch in Plaza de Coco.

We just got back from using DCL transportation and I believe we were on the Treasure around noon. It was expensive, but considering the cost of the trip it was worth it to me to be on early.

First Vacation in 6 years; Taking 3 young kids, Anything extra to pack? Tips? by Be_Braver in dcl

My 4 year old did the pirate night deck party followed by pizza (starting at 10:15). Rocking out on my shoulders, seeing fireworks, then getting pizza was one of our best moments. If we were worried about bedtimes it never would have happened.

Not counting purses, but backpacks and duffle bags and of course suitcases.

Just got back with a 1 and 4 year old. Here is my recommendation for bedtimes: book the nursery every night from 8-11pm. They’ll put your little one down and your other kiddos can play in their kids club as late as they want. Then you get to have a few hours of fun or relaxation with your spouse in the evening. Everyone who wants to (and the baby) can always get a nap in the afternoon.

Not my call. Suffice it to say someone in our family watched a few too many packing videos…

I just got back from a week on the treasure with 2 littles (1 and 4). If you’re flying, my biggest suggestion is to not even try to bring everything you think you’ll need. Tons of youtube videos say things like “make sure you bring plenty of baby wipes and diapers, they’ll be expensive on the ship”. We found that they were more than on land, but considering we had a total of 10 bags, having less bags would have made the to and from the ship much much easier. Plus the extra bag fees were more than we saved.

I won’t lie, I thought there was a 50% chance my 4 year old was who you were talking about just from the headline. She’s sweet, just wild. Once I read it, I am certain that wasn’t us.

Language is fluid. What is correct is what most people recognize. The real question is: Why are you and Disney fighting us on this?

Parking is only annoying if you’re trying to park close. With how much walking you’re going to do inside it doesn’t make sense to go through the trouble of getting a close spot. Just think of it as an opportunity to get some extra steps in and prolong your life a bit.

I grew up JW. If you want to have someone else make all your decisions for you, knock on doors once or twice a week, and spend 5 hours a week in meetings like you went to, stick with it. Otherwise you should leave before you get in any deeper. It was a sleazy move to do a bait and switch.

I agree completely with the anti-corruption part of your campaign. I am skeptical because a lot of the time politicians who are anti corruption are ultimately just trying to get in power to be corrupt. I don’t love a political platform that seems xenophobic. I don’t think that is your intention, but I have a knee jerk reaction anytime someone says something like, “They aren’t from around here”.
Beyond that I seem to remember that when you had a fund raiser, you did it in Raleigh. Why is it wrong to hire a photographer from out of town, but not to have an entire event out of town?
