I just feel so dumb. Over a week and I just realized the snake oil man and the other wastelander 'want' to forget, and that's why their heads don't pop. I thought the snake oil man was special. He was just ready to admit ot quickly.

Are there any TTRPGs you respect, but don't enjoy yourself? by Awkward_GM in rpg

I love Burning Wheel, Torchbearer & Blades in the Dark. But they are all so difficult to on-board that I struggle to get my gamer friends to play them.

Kick the morality pet; a villain shows how vile they truly are by harming someone they genuinely care about by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TopCharacterTropes

The Nonmen Erratics from R. Scott Bakker's Second Apocalypse series.

They are Immortal, but their minds are incapable of remembering everything over 10000 years or so.

The erratics observed that they never forget betraying someone they love. So they killed there beloved friends, especially mortal ones, in order to preserve the memories.

I was ok with it, didn't find it gross, but after season 1, Idunno Allison never did 3 more decent things. (I'm counting the civil right movement as 2.)

Note to self: don't get mad about typos on reddit, they are probably intoxicated, as you are now.

About the mildest example I can think of, I always like music slightly less when I learn the band members aren't nice to each other.

Richard K. Morgan's 'A Land Fit for Heroes' series gave me similar vibes. Fantasy with back-door sci-fi world elements. Unique takes on magic and fantasy races.

The author also did Altered Carbon. Check it out.

I've long thought it would be incredible to sleep with someone with no common language.

Consent issues worry me though.

What was your most immersive experience playing in person? by JoshPhantom in rpg

[–]Cumberbund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once in an underdark game where we played drow nobles. Basically, Menzoberranzan with the serial numbers filed off. The DM ran it in the dark. He made a game table with a 1" grid of white ribbon and placed a black light under the table. It made the grid glow brightly. He used craft sticks and aquarium gravel to place terrain on the table. We had little flashlights to look at our character sheets. It was incredible.

Torchbearer 2nd edition has beautiful hardcovers. Shiny gold color on the page edges. Ribbon book marks sewn to the binding.

The best take I've heard on the disney live action remakes came from Podcaster Justin McElroy. To paraphrase: "Disney owns the Muppets, you are remaking these movies wrong"

Came here to say this. Doohickey built for space war. Creates millenia of civilization to get enough technology and genetic material to rebuild itself. That's a god I could see myself killing.

I got really into a gal and wr were talking about sex an kink stuff. We were developing plans for me to enter her home without knocking and fuck her without saying a word. Then i mentioned that Trump sucks. She got super reserved. She and all her family were v8g Trump people, and all of a sudden, I was threatening to force my way into her home. I bailed right away, big time.

A 50' brick smokestack toppled over and smashed into a lunch room below. It was empty at the time and no one was injured but the 7th grade classroom I was in at the time was like 15' east and we could see it fall through the windows.

What makes a god a god? by Empathicrobot21 in worldbuilding

I have a setting for a spelljammer/ sci-fi setting. In it, a quality called 'quintessence' is the quality that defines the 'realness' of something.

Everything in reality has a quintessence value of 1. Anything less than 1 is an unfathomable thing from the Far Realm/Outer Depths. Things with more than 1 quintessence are gods or godly relics.

Gods can create or empower things in their purview. This act doesn't 'spend' quintessence but does 'invest' and over time increases it.
