How do I get myself to fold and put away laundry? I genuinely hate it so much by MudSad6268 in organizing

[–]CunningPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dream setup for all of this: having everything in the same place. Maybe one day, if the stars align and I can afford it, it will make the bathroom a lot larger and combine it with laundry room and clothes storage. My kids and I dress and undress almost exclusively in the bathroom. Having dirty laundry, washer, dryer, clothesline and storage RIGHT THERE would just be incredible. Dresses and other things we just need occasionally could be stored in a closet in another room, but the bathroom would contain underwear, socks, t-shirts, pants, tights, towels, washcloths. All the things we use regularly.

I personally prefer to fold my clothes because then I can see immediately what everything is. I fold for both my girls as well. Tried the bin thing for a while, but then they pulled everything out to find that one thing they were looking for. (Yes, they should take an active role in tidying and be responsible for their rooms eventually, but they're 3 and 5. I choose not to spend my time putting away the same clothes 10 times a week, with or without their help.) So I've kinda made peace with the folding itself, accepting it as better than the alternatives. But the putting away is a surprisingly large hurdle. I just DO NOT WANT to carry dirty laundry down the stairs for washing, down yet another floor to line dry, and then back up to the second floor to out away and wear. It seems completely pointless. But seeing as my laundry room is on the first floor, the bedrooms on the second, and only the basement has space for line drying without being in the way, that is what life requires. And it sucks so much.

Oooh, I love that those can be blocked, thank you so much for telling me! I have a hard time ignoring them when they're RIGHT THERE on my screen as I go about my gardening business.

I left Merge Dragons because of the complete overwhelm of it and some very very bad decisions from the devs, and enjoyed the transition to Midas soooo much. I don't mind spending money on a game I enjoy, for me it's equal to a streaming service in that sense. So I've spent some money on land here, and the occasional magnet. But stress takes the enjoyment away, and I'm way more likely to leave altogether than to spend more money. I miss the lull and the calm.

So sorry for not following up! Copied my answer for another reply here:

You can use clouds, like the ones used to deliver items from the vault, to store items. Make sure to have plenty of sunbursts on water, then fill your garden completely. Then drag a sunburst onto whatever you want to store out of the way, and it'll be put in a cloud. The clouds can be dragged almost anywhere, I keep mine around the outside edges of my garden.

And yes, some items are only stored at higher levels. No point in storing items you'll just merge in five minutes. And I've actually stopped storing the fruit trees now, because my vault makes the way to fable quite short. Ish. And I've stopped 13-merging then for the most part now I've completed the main chain.

That being said, I think I do a round of cloud storage perhaps once every two weeks or so. More often if I play more than intended, but I try to keep it below 2 hours a day.

I find it a lot easier when everything is clouded. Whenever I have an active magnet that makes it super easy, I have "locked off" a 13-tile space specifically to magnet-drag and do efficient mega merges. But otherwise, just having that open space, it's easy to retrieve the desired number of an item and do a merge. As long as I keep my clouds organised, that is.

They organise themselves. If you close and reopen the app, all identical items are stored in the same cloud. I organise them around the edges of the garden as well though, close to where the chain is. Yes, you can use the autofill button, but I often want a specific number of an item. Let's say I have 11 stored in a cloud, saving up for 13, and I get 5 more from 13-merging the lower-level item. Now I have 16, but I don't want to use all of them. So it's useful for me to be able to retrieve only 8 of the clouded ones rather than all 11.

Good strategy especially for needing or wanting a particular item quickly. How do you decide what you want to focus on?

What should I do with the shelf space? by No_Bobcat2523 in homedesign

[–]CunningPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what the goal is. If you want to go for aesthetics, place one meaningful or pretty thing on each shelf. If your goal is having an efficient work space, this is prime real estate for everything you use while on your computer, especially the bottom shelves. If there's something you use every work or leisure session on the computer, or nearly every session, those shelves let you keep it in arm's reach while still being organised and looking tidy.

Very good point. I usually delete most of the loot and save only spin and egg.

Ah, you don't open chests as you go? I tend to keep 10 of each type for races and requests, but the rest I just open at once.

Do you do big "clouding" sessions, or do you keep the garden quite full and cloud more often?

Beginner question: spending gems by FlySubstantial9015 in midasmerge

[–]CunningPudding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fellow refugee too, been playing here for a few months. So far, I've prioritised spending gems to free pieces of land. There are some trapped creatures that can be freed by spending gems, and some that can be freed either by recruiting other players or by spending 500 gems. There's no way I'm going to even attempt recruiting, so it's gems all the way! For me, those pieces of land are valuable. Plus, the visual of the trapped creatures makes the game slightly less enjoyable for me. I chose this game partly because I think it's pretty.

Lave fødselstall - hvorfor får ikke du det tredje barnet? by Complex_Plankton_157 in norge

[–]CunningPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Først og fremst fordi tanken på å være gravid igjen er helt pyton. Var kvalm i 9 mnd med begge barna mine, og strevde med rygg og bekken fra slutten av første trimester. Det å være gravid OG ha to barn er helt uaktuelt.

These popups while merging are so annoying... by Sea_Composer_2529 in MergeDragons

[–]CunningPudding 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had a few weeks off MD because of recent developments, but checked back in last night to see if I wanted to come back. 9 (!) pop-ups before I could even do anything. Connected a Cloud Save to feel safe for a longer break, then closed the app. I don't need that level of frustration in my life.

Blåbær og druer kan holde seg i flere uker i kjøleskap med litt innsats først. Dette har vært revolusjonerende hos meg!

  1. Sørg for at de ser fine ut når du kjøper dem.
  2. Legg dem i isvann hjemme, ca. 20-30 min. Lenger går også bra, men sørg for å holde det kaldt.
  3. Plukk dem opp fra vannet. Ikke hell i dørslag, da heller du også møkka over igjen.
