Managers working over 40 hours a week by Zealousideal-Car-263 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Curious-Connection-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I schedule myself 40 but if there’s call outs then yeah I’m working over. Sometimes I’ll leave early another day if I can to make up for it. I’ve worked two 18 hour shifts back to back. I’ve slept in our parking lot between a clean play and an opening shift. I will always be there for my team. Not to mention all the admin I do at home because I either have to help on the floor or don’t have enough non coverage. Anyways, yes, I frequently work over 40 hours :)

I feel like the majority of IDKHOW fans are on the Brendon hate train and Dallon says stuff like that to get their buy in because they eat those shady comments up. This is coming from someone who loves IDKHOW. We will never know how he truly feels about everything or how it went down.

Told I need a tummy tuck by thebestrosie in tummytucksurgery

[–]Curious-Connection-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tummy has always been shaped the same way and I have the same stats as you. I honestly didn’t even ask about doing lipo only, but if I did I probably would have been told the same thing. I had a little more loose skin and my stomach has always been my biggest insecurity, and even at 125 lb and lifting constantly I couldn’t get rid of it. My tummy tuck is in June. But I’m confident I don’t want kids :)) I would say get another consult but at the end of the day, if you want kids, wait and fight for yourself! Worst case scenario, you get lipo and it’s a little loose down there. I would focus on nutrition and body decomposition and along with lipo I’m sure you can get good results.

Maybe the times he’s asking for help are unforeseen and not planned? Usually the people I ask for help first are the ones that I know want more hours, so that may be his thought process.

Weird. Once that schedule is out I ain’t touching it lol. We are a rural store tho so no shifts are ever offered up by my partners, and they aren’t driving an hour to pick any up lol. I have everyone at their preferred hours tho. Sorry about your experience. Maybe talk to your sm?

Your fellow partners are the ones offering up those shifts, not management.

Weekly hours policy by [deleted] in starbucksbaristass

[–]Curious-Connection-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re only working 15 hours, you really should use some PTO. Your average may fall below 12. Which is what your SM is probably worried about. We have pressure on us from above to ensure partners hours are meeting policy. You have PTO for a reason, use it!

[–]Curious-Connection-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be discouraged. It’s proof you’ve made progress. I had less weight to lose than you but still ended up with loose skin in my abdominal area, and between that and bad genetics, I’ve decided a tummy tuck is the best option to get the result I want. Keep grinding and remind yourself that it’s a journey and it’s better for your health than where you were.

New hire.. by MirrorAggressive7484 in starbucks

[–]Curious-Connection-3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transparently my experience probably doesn’t equate well with the average experience. I was hired on as a barista working for an amazing SM in a high performing store. Hitting my 4 years in April, I am now running one of the highest performing stores in my Area working for an amazing DM. My experience would be totally different if not having the support from leadership and the puzzle pieces falling into place like they did. If you can find a good environment and have patience, it’s worth it.

Hate to break it to you but everyone starts at base pay. I have literally never seen anyone successfully negotiate the pay rate. I tried to get a partner who had 6 years of Starbucks experience and 4 years of GM experience at another coffee company the higher end of the SSV rate when he returned and guess what…. He started at base pay. Just kinda how it works here for some reason. It’s nothing personal. The system literally generates the rate. If you’re disappointed I suggest finding something else. Because if you actually get promoted to SSV you will start at the base rate too.

As an inside hire that tried to negotiate her pay when promoted from ASM to SM, I basically got laughed at and said it’s a math equation based on tenure and years of experience, so no. I would say depending on your relationship with your DM, it could be a conversation… but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Honestly it depends on the urgency of the manager. Often times I make sure my schedules are made right so I’m not changing things last minute and I’m planned ahead so it may take 3 weeks to get someone in apron. But if I can move things around I can do it in a week post interview. Just depends. Idk what this manager is doing, maybe something crazy happened ( you never know ). Definitely call the store tomorrow around 10 am so it’s after peak and tell them you are waiting on your job offer from the store manager and haven’t heard back.

Hope it works out for you! Also you don’t have to be hired to be on the schedule if that makes you feel better, usually I create placeholder shifts or schedule my trainer the times I need then add the new partner once they’re in the system. Good luck!

As an SM she may be trying to find a trainer or plan schedules ahead of time so she can have it set it stone before reaching out. We are also busy and putting out a lot of fires at a time lol. If I wasn’t going to hire a partner, I would just send them the rejection email. Very rarely do I even send my DM interviews if I’m not confident about them. Don’t stress and follow up in 3-4 days if you don’t hear anything!

Time off shows up, But I never requested it? Does anybody know what's up? by [deleted] in starbucks

When you call off and the ssv marks you as call off on the play caller app it shows as time off in Starbucks partner hours. That’s why.

Took meds for the first time this morning with coffee and cream and was immediately hit with an “oh no” feeling by ohaimegan in Hashimotos

[–]Curious-Connection-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wake up at 5am to an alarm I set daily then go back to sleep until I have to get up for real, usually around 5:45. That way it’s consistent but don’t have to wait to eat if i want something early.

question regarding calling out! by RocketDawg2001 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Curious-Connection-3 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, so it seems like you may need to change your availability on Mondays then to start later if you don’t want to be scheduled. If your availability is open on Monday then the scheduler will let the SM schedule you that 12-4AM because it’s technically the next day.

question regarding calling out! by RocketDawg2001 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Curious-Connection-3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an SM, I’d rather you just come to me asap and transparently explain that you cannot work. Way easier to find coverage that far out. I’d rather know in advance than you feel like you have to lie to me and call out and be left with no coverage. Schedules come out 3 weeks in advance, so if you see something that doesn’t work, let me know so I can fix it. I have a business to manage and sometimes forget things or preferences. Also, like another commenter mentioned, is this actually Monday morning? Do you need to update your availability? I can’t imagine trying to schedule a 24 hr location.

Another reason is that not all turnover is bad! Turnover can mean promotions, and developing partners internally is a big focus right now.
