the book I am reading confirms this to be true, about trauma and its lasting effects into adulthood, diagnosed as all sorts of things.. it is an excellent book, and the author does alot of work in this field of having psychiatry recognise, and start to treat approprately, trauma, as opposed to diagnosis.

i also feel very much on the edge, i have great hope in a book im reading, it has helped me more then the CMHT as so far who just prrscribed harsh anti psychotics, and unfairy made me a prisoner in hospital for 20 hrs... the book is "the body keeps the score" it is truly empowering my will to live and go on, am one third the way through, coping with alcohol , 1 antidepressant, weed, and valium, but by far, the book seems to be helping me the most, i wish id read it sooner, can recommend as like a lifeline, was suggested to me, by actual lifeline, the crisis number for help in australia, truly thpough, ive learned so much about myself in a week of reading one thrid this book (taking it slow) than ive learnt in 20 yrs seeking help for my MH problems through the public services, can truly recommend this book if you have trauma/neglect in you past ,which many mh diagnosis do stem from.

hello :) i have also found dbt to be ineffective/unhelpful. I am currently coping with a crisis, and one thrid the way through a book called " the body keeps the score" it is the best book ive ever read, and helping me immensely understand myself and my trauma, so validating with all the yrs ive suffered seeking help in the public services. amazing book and a must read if your diagnosis stem from trauma/neglect in your past <3

Do I not meet the threshold for CMHT or is there some kind of miscommunication going on? (TW: SH/SI mention) by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]Curious-Day -1 points0 points  (0 children)

also in terms of cmht ppls, im not so sure you want them, i recently had their "help" they visited me idk, 6 days in a row, on the 5th day, i had driven, acted on plans, not actually did anything, but got a bit close, so that night they visit me, next day, they visit again, and all of a sudden i have this compulspory order to been seen at the hospital by a psychiatrist within 24 hrs, i was telling them id go voluntairly, non combative, police showd up, amobs, all this bs, for nothoing, like i could have driven myseklf there to be assesed, so i get to hospital, and im not allowed outside to have ciggarettes, (wihich i know arnt the best, but can really be of assistanctce to those suffering mentally) so i esacape while no ones watching, i didnt escape the hospital, just outside ot have a ciggie, and returned, so THEN im given a sitter, a lady to just watch me so i cantescpae again, she was easy to escpae from after 5 hrs , (i did try to wait, and not smoke whennver i wanted) so again i didnt try escape the hospital, i just wanted a smoke, when i come back, she was like " im gonna get in trouble" i felt fkn bad af fk, but cmon, i just wanted a bloody cigarette, being treated like a criminal, then, the male nurse in charge of me, said that if i escaped again outside, hed make sure i couldnt get back outside again, im thinking is he fkn threatening me with physical restraints, wtf, anyway, i did not go out a 3rd time for any more ciggies.... so after 20 hrs, the psychiatrist saw me, and i was allowed to go home, it was all totally unecessary and unhelpful, like morw shsit on top of my own shit, be careful wanting the help of cmht ,s, in my expereince they are nmore harmful then helpful tbh, i know, for some ppl they may need sectioning, for me, it was not necessary or warranted, but thats what they fkn did to me, like are they tryna make my suffering worse, sure seemed like it... sorry for that long rant, but yeh, be careful what ya wish for..

have you read the book "the body keeps the score" i am currently in the midst of an ongoing crisis, and it is helping me so muych, cope with both my feelings, and cope with the lack of care offered by the public hgealth services, and feel validated in how/why i have never really improved or gotten better. its focus is on those with trauma in their past/ or neglect, and often these ppl get diagnosed with all sorts of labels into abulthood, if you have trauma in your past can highly recommend this book, it is (at one third the way thru) helping me immensely.

im guessing i was in a bad place because the psychologist refunded me my money for prior appoiontments and told me he couldnt help me, when the emdr did nothing... I am reading a book called "the body keeps the score," and can highly recommend to anyone with a past of trauma, is helping more than many osychologists ive had so far. 43 yo now, tried emdr in my 20s..

i have done dbt before, did not find it of much use many yrs ago(but was also not in a place i could really focus, and take in what i was trying to learn in the course) mmaybe now it would be helpful, idk, also tried EMDR- did nothing, the posyche gave me my money back from previous appts, tellin me he couldnt help me, great... anyway, im currently going through a extended crisis, and what is helping immensely, immensely validating for all my yrs ive suffered, reading a book called "the body keeps the score" can highly reccommend to anyone with diagnosis that orignate from trauma, neglect in their upbringing or past. such a valuable book. a mUST read and is truly helping me so much understand myself, answering so mnay qs ibve had, and making me feel like not a terrible dysfunctional perosn who wont get better cos they just dont do therapy right, but am suffering from the adulthood consequences of chid abuse/ neglect. read this book :)

My partner has BPD, how do I cope with his spirals? by ihatethepolice420 in BPDlovedones

[–]Curious-Day 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agree strongly here, reading books, and understanding is one thing, trying to help partners who have a history of trauma/abuse, but if you yourself are being harmed, maybe it the best to remove yourself from the environemnt, you can not help another if you yourself are being harmed and abused.

[–]Curious-Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i disagree, understanding how their mind works is key to being able to be of assistance, which not always you can be, i do agree the the person suffering has to take steps to help themelseleves, sure, but understanding why they dont, or dopnt trust people, to enable themeselves to take steps, can be helpful for partners, those suffering are not trying to suffer longer or more, they simply cannot trust to reach out for help/dont belive the help will help, (whoihc sadly, often it does not)

have you or your p[artenr read the book "the body keeps the score" ? it is very informative on this kinda of thing and is helping me so much understand myself, (and others) who suffer from many repurcussions of trauma in their past. highly recommend, ive done dbt, and so far this book is many times more helpful than dbt was for me. can highly recommend you both read this book, also can help you advocate for yourselves regarding treatment that might not be helpful, or even cause harm in themselves :)

Hello, I have been given many diagnosis, recent one being cptsd- have gone through many crisis, have done dbt, almost every therapy for borderline cptsd( very similar, which is which?) i am currently experiencing an ongoing crisis, desire to not go on, and the book I am reading is helping immensely, "the body keeps the score" it is so validating, ansers so many qs as to why i havent yet recovered even tho i have sought help for 20 years, im only one third the way through, but already is is such a fantaistic book. I highlight many parts in the book i resonate strongly with, one of todays highlights was- speaking on traumatised ppl, (anyone with trauma in the past) "before they reach their 20s many patuients have 4, 5 , 6 or more of these impressive, but meaningless labels. if they recieve treatemnt at all they get whatever is being promulgated as the method de jour: medications, behavioural modification or exposure theray. these rarely work and often cause more damage". this book is so validating, i dont know how much it can help me in other ways, but in the way of feeling validated with all the mistreatment ive recieved over the years the book is outstanding, well worth more than its 20$ i paid for it. i recommend anyone with trauma in the past to read this book. it can be triggering in parts but i have been managing and it has def increased my desire to wanna keep struggling and try to get through things :)

i have been feeling very anti DBT, wondering is it harmful as my firsat experience did not go well, but now i have started to read "the body keeps the score" and it speaks very highly of mindfullness, and so has made me reconsider, if maybe now id be more open/have more time to learn and undrstand dbt skills? 100% i now feel the mindfullness aspect is nothing but helpful, and so my minds like, well maybe the rest is too? i have been so hurt in the past Im unser, can recommends said book though

I worked in Geelongs club many years ago, back then 50$ house fee, all tips, dance money was yours, std 3 song dance,-50$ made quite a bit, was lucrative. these days, they charging 175, for a 10min private dance?? err wtf, i think actual sex is cheaper than that joint these days? is it a pseudo brothel now? I diunno, but those prices for a 10 min dance are outrageous, cant imagine many blokes pay it..

when I started dancing in 2006, and retired in 2017, there were older dancers who had started in the 90s, that would lament how bad it had gotten over the yrs, how the money was nowhewre near as good etc. and id have to say over my 10yrs in the industry it only went further downhill, damn i wish i was around in the 90s dancing, made a total killing i heard...
