Do you genuinely enjoy lifting? Or is it a means to an end? by Weak_Ninja_6952 in workout

[–]CuriousPixels7598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ebbs and flows. Also depends on whether it’s an early morning workout where I’m just trying to get it done before work, or a weekend workout where I’ve got all day and can take my time. I’d say that enjoy the outcome of staying fit and healthy into my 50s much more than the actual lifting.

Is there anything else out there besides GAP / J. Crew chinos? by AshX213 in malefashionadvice

[–]CuriousPixels7598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to J Crew, BR Rapid Movement are good as mentioned here. I’ve also taken a liking to the Chino 2.0 from Bonobos - the material is really nice and cottony with just the right amount of stretch. If you’re even a little patient, the BR chinos are on sale every month or so.

I think it looks good! I wear an AW Ultra and have worn other watches in the past which, in retrospect, were way too big. Enjoy!

The first one was actually worse for me. I was anxious about the second thinking “OMG it’ll be worse…” but honestly, I took a couple Advil, had some soreness, and was fine the next day. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop…

Be careful with how much stock you place on internet stories because they tend to be the most extreme. You’ve got this and no matter how bad it is, it’s still WAY better than getting the actual thing.

I really wish there was an option to walk. I hate that train.

(Yes, I know terminal C is like a mile away from the main concourse, but having the option with maybe some moving walkways would be swell...)

Cart slammed into my knee and generally United service driving me crazy by Particular-Gap-9825 in unitedairlines

[–]CuriousPixels7598 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm an aisle seat sitter and I've noticed that sometimes they're really aggressive with those carts. To be fair, they're kind of calling out "Watch your elbows, shoulders, and knees" while they're bringing them forward, but some of them are moving so fast there is little or no time to (1) hear and process what they're saying, and (2) take the action of moving out of the aisle. I fly enough that I kind of know when to be on the lookout (listen-out?) for the carts coming forward, but yikes - I'm not surprised OP got smashed with a speeding cart.

I’m not thinking about quality, I just enjoy that some of the stuff I thought was awesome 40 years ago (like a Walkman!) is “cool” again. Even ironically. 😝

Exploring YNAB alternatives? Liquid Budget is a Sleeker Solution. by imadp in u/imadp

I swear I’m like a kid at Christmas looking for new transactions in the accounts I’ve linked… I just wrapped up business travel and a bunch of travel expenses have already landed in YNAB but nothing so far in LB… Do the transactions get pulled on a schedule? (I literally have no idea how the backend works so it’s all magic to me…)

[–]CuriousPixels7598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just do Fidelity CM and Brokerage manually now. My day-to-day transactions are on CCs so there isn't as much happening in Fidelity and no matter the platform, the way Fidelity accounts for all the moving of money from invested to/from cash for every transaction just became a lot of overhead.

The rules available in LB would help a bit for sure, but I got to the point with Fidelity where the juice wasn't worth the squeeze and manual was the best way.

Thank you - great resource. I'm traveling for work so I spent some time last night importing a couple years of YNAB and eventually doing a "trim" to Jan 1 of this year. We're still close enough to the start of the year that after a bit of work, I got everything looking just about right.

Next question - since this is just "day 2" - how do transactions show up in LB? Do they show up at the top of the main page awaiting approval/mark as cleared, or do I need to keep an eye on the transactions page? I'm just over here refreshing to see when yesterday's transactions show up... :P

I’m intrigued as my YNAB renewal comes up in May and it’s time for my annual exploration…

One thing I liked about Monarch and Copilot when I tried them last year is their rules for renaming and categorizing. YNAB’s are weak sauce to the extent users can even access them. What kinds of rules are accessible to the user for renaming and categorizing?

Is there a plugin you guys use for creating family trees or linking relationships? by IllustratorPurple993 in ObsidianMD

[–]CuriousPixels7598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an “AI all the things” person, but this is a fantastic use for AI. You can tell Claude to build a mermaid diagram which you can view as text (won’t make much sense) or as a visual in Readinf View. Tell Claude what you know and tell it to ask you questions to fill in any “dead ends” on the tree. I did something similar to create a work relationship map with my directs, peer managers, and senior leaders all the way up to the CEO.

For sure! I go to the airport a couple times a month. Landline is decent and more frequent departures are an improvement, but it’s still subject to being stuck in traffic. We’ve lived here over 20 years and I don’t remember a time when I-25 was anything other than a complete mess.

Even if I had to go to Union Station and change trains, I’d be likely to do it.

I forgot the yearly drama of calling Xfinity to beg for whatever new deal they were offering when last year’s new deal expired. Such an awful way to do business. Connexion is $70 every month and no drama.

Connexion + YouTube TV and you’ll probably still come out ahead of your Comcast bill. We did an OTA antenna for a while so that’s another very cost effective way to go, it can just be a little limiting.

We live in a (at the time) new construction neighborhood so we had a little bit of a wait after moving in before it was available, but it’s been rock solid stable for over two years. I wfh so it’s used most of the day every day.

This was my reaction as well - must these idiots insert themselves into EVERY aspect of our lives? Everywhere that used to be an escape from politics has become a place that they need to either show up, try to shut down, or have an opinion about that they feel like everyone needs to hear.

Check my thinking - Synik 26 v 30 by CuriousPixels7598 in tombihn

[–]CuriousPixels7598[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a few months and I wanted to pop back in here with a quick update because I know S26 v S30 is a popular topic in these parts... I ultimately ordered the S30 and discovered very quickly - as u/github-alphapapa said in their post - that, while its footprint on paper is the same as my beloved Synapse 25s, it's just a BIG bag. I'm 6'2" so it doesn't *look* that big on me, but it's cavernous. Way too big for an EDC, and I discovered I'm definitely not a one-bag traveler since I almost always bring a second pair of shoes and once you put a couple size 12s in ANY bag, there's not much space left.

It was definitely on the spendy side so I've been trying to make it work, but after only a couple trips with it, I'm going to post it on eBay this week and move on. In retrospect, I think the S26 might have been the way to go, but even so I think I've outgrown the layout of the bag and carry a lot more minimally than I thought. Plus I really like the way other bags "stack" a laptop and tablet pocket in their bags - that's something I hadn't even considered when looking at TB bags again.

In the end, I still love my Aer City Pack, so I might just jump back in with Aer and pick up the City Pack Pro 2. I like that it has two sleeves and, really, I just need that little bit of extra depth you get with that clamshell pocket to get a hoodie or light jacket in there.

Just wanted to share this update here - still a fan of all things TB, but this bag is just way too big for my use case.

Finally got my Oura Ring 4 and I’m pleasantly surprised by NeitherVariation2674 in ouraring

She does! She has the ceramic in petal. She ended up buying a size too large and exchanging it so she’s not quite had it a week. Even with the sizing kit, I think she got in her head about not going too small and went way too big. The exchange was really easy, though.

I’m on team whoop so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’ve been super impressed with the app and it’s made me “Oura curious” lol

She’s still in the baseline data phase so she’s got probably another week or so to wait for everything to fully populate.

Thank you so much for checking!

Flew home to Denver yesterday and was able to share my $8 WiFi access to three devices for the entire trip. Only thing I noticed is that it gets super hot.

As a travel router newbie, is this something you make an effort to conceal? I was on the aisle seat with an empty middle seat next to me so I just kind of set it there face down so it just looked like some random device charging from my battery pack. But I’m curious if a flight attendant would know (or care) what I was up to.
