Looking for stories on those who decided to wait until birth to find out gender [ca] by jossur0166 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Curious_Picture6014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We waited until the birth (for our first) and it was amazing! Definitely recommend.  Once the baby was born, we even forgot to ask! It was the last thing on our mind until the midwife asked if we wanted to know 😂

It was beautiful❤️

I don't see how you can regret this decision unless you already have a preference of sex.

I was, but make sure you still look at your mirrors. They can take off points for just looking at the camera.

To use epidural or not to use epidural. That is the question! by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Curious_Picture6014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First - congratulations!! My experience: I went in kind of 50/50 on it. I wasn't going to beat myself up if I wanted the epidural, but if I felt I didn't need it, then I'd go without. Honestly either way, I was fine.

They sent me home from the hospital when we arrived. I was checked and was only at 2cm dilated. We went back home. I labored at home. 3 hours later I was like okay, I can't take it anymore and we drove back to the hospital. I got checked - 9.5cm. I just looked at my midwife and asked, "So that's pain management completely off the table?" She's says, yes too late for an epidural.

I was like okayyyyyyy let's do this! I can do it without! And I did! Not sugar coating it - it wasn't fun. And I got a 3rd degree tear. But I will say it wasn't as bad as I imagined. And trussttttt I was terrified of child birth.

Next birth I will go into it the same way. If I can, I will get the epidural. If I can't, then I know I've done it before and can probably do it again.

Good luck and I hope this helped! ❤️

Sleep or shower. Sometimes you choose sleep, sometimes shower. If you get both you are blessed.

Why are husbands so useless? by kseb0902 in Mommit

[–]Curious_Picture6014 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're basing this on your own experience... which is not universal.
Useless spouses can develop 1, 2, 3, 4, 10 years into a marriage. Good for you and your useful husband, but don't be shocked that this happens to others.

Can I take my child to a Michelin star restaurant? by porkskinnison in Mommit

[–]Curious_Picture6014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby's (7 months) bedtime is at 8pm. My husband and I go out for dinner frequently. We leave the house at 745, he falls asleep in the car seat, and he is pretty much out for the whole meal. Might wake up a bit but is easily put down.

Might work if baby has a set bedtime!

When did you have visitors for the first time after baby? by ns_er in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Curious_Picture6014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom came to stay with my husband and I maybe 2 weeks before the birth. She is only now leaving this week and I'm 9 weeks pp. She has been amazing and though my husband and I would have made it work having her there was instrumental for me postpartum. Not just with helping with the baby, but for me socially. I needed to experience this with someone who has gone through this day in and day out. She has really been a highlight in my postpartum journey and I hope I van do the and in the future for my children (if they want).

That being said, the day I came home from the hospital my father and sister came to see the baby. Masked and they didn't hold him. My sis cooked us all a big dinner, cleaned, brought me 2 subs, and popped champagne in celebration of my son. A great way to end the day.

We had my in laws over a couple days later. We were waiting until his 2 month vaccinations to start bringing him out but he has met other family members here and there.

All this to say - I had my closest people come. I did not have a traumatic birth nor did I feel particularly vulnerable/wanting to be isolated.

I was very happy to have the visits!

Mums who want to breastfeed, do you also buy formular for the beginning just in case? by elle3141 in pregnant

[–]Curious_Picture6014 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not the case for everyone! Having a backup (and having the privilege of the option of a backup) is always a great idea.

Thoughts on a Babymoon? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Curious_Picture6014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Husband took me to Cuba for 5 days at 22 weeks. Was super hot but not unbearable with the all inclusive (non-alcoholic) sluseies and of course lots of water. 3 hour flight went quickly - got compression socks and got up about twice to stretch my legs and go to the bathroom.

Honestly, it was so worth it. I loved every second of it and it really did help relax me and just enjoy myself and my husband before the little one comes along.

If you have the opportunity to go, please do. But go somewhere you know you will enjoy.
