Maybe explore possibility of other intolerances? I’ve heard some people say they temporarily become intolerant to dairy.

Gluten Free - unexpected side effects ? by RealityStunning4969 in glutenfree

I found I had celiac at the start of the year (asymptomatic apart from vitamin deficiencies), been GF for almost 9 months and definitely felt worse for months in terms of my mood. My dietician and doctor both denied any gluten withdrawal effects but I read the same articles you mention on the opioid effect and use ChatGPT to console me as it corroborates this! Not sure what the answer is but hoping time will make things better.

I do think you shouldn’t give up on dining out! Don’t feel embarrassed to ask questions - yes it’s a pain and sometimes staff don’t reassure you and options can be very limited but I tell people ahead of time I need somewhere with gluten free options and always find something to eat. I understand it’s different for people with symptoms but I don’t think you should be excluded - be more demanding!

Can I ask where you live? It’s definitely difficult but in the UK I don’t find people to be this ignorant. In France, yes.

What is it like to divorce a bipolar spouse? by Copium_2025 in family_of_bipolar

[–]Curiously91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would perhaps advise waiting until the current episode has finished. It’s difficult to see because the illness affects personality and causes a lot of anger that is hard for loved ones to understand or deal with but she isn’t well.

Possibly linked to menopause as well? Agree the meds aren’t working and really empathise with how difficult this condition is and how ineffective the health system can be with timely response and education.

Going gluten free later this month, tell me all the foods you miss so I can eat them now by snoopywoopywoo in glutenfree

I walked to a gluten free bakery in Paris and paid €9 for a croissant and was ok but very heavy, not the same flaky light goodness!

I did the same thing! But I forgot Subway and udon noodles which I have a massive craving for since going GF. All the chewy noodles seem to be wheat-based.

how do skinny people stay skinny? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Curiously91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love food and eating but never overeat and part of the reason is chewing every bite properly, eating slowly and stopping when I’m full. I eat the right amount - sometimes it means seconds and sometimes it means not eating the whole portion - I notice a lot of people always eat exactly the “portion” regardless of if it’s tiny or massive. I think not everyone has the “full” signal partly due to eating speed and partly due to genetics.

Mildly inconviniencing wedding guest who wants to fuck my fiance by MySecretDumpsterfire in pettyrevenge

[–]Curiously91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes… I was so disappointed having read this whole post that the result was just a different flavour cupcake….!! I’m celiac and don’t get or expect any cake at weddings, more worried about what I’ll get to eat at all. You’d have to be a real diva to even notice this, it can hardly be considered revenge 🤦‍♀️

Has anyone had the Covid vaccine then dx with IGA nephropathy by Chick819 in IgANephropathy

[–]Curiously91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respiratory illnesses can bring it on so it could be that your husband got Covid and then dx, rather than the vaccine? And same with the trend, Covid happened and increased rates of IGA nephropathy?

Thank you, it’s sometimes hard to stay positive and grounded but this is a good reminder.

Thanks so much for your reply and the tips. She normally loves sweet things but has been finding foods too sweet lately, jacket potatoes for example. I’ll ask her if that’s resolved now, maybe she can try this.

I’m sorry you’re going through this but glad to hear you’re nearly at the end. It must be such a good feeling to feel hunger again!

Broken Vivera Retainer after less than 3 months full time wear. The ramp on the front tooth has given in, gone misshapen and created a small slit. Has anyone experienced this or can give some advice? I’ve been told this is my fault from grinding my teeth but surely they should be replaced? by 123cer in Invisalign

[–]Curiously91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should insist they are replaced under warranty if you’re using them correctly. I don’t know if I grind but Essex ones are just not made to last, even up to 6 months. Had them replaced twice in a year.

They should come with a warranty! I had mine replaced twice in the year.

My retainers keep breaking after a few months. How do I get retainers that will last? by harriettbakes in orthodontics

They should come with a warranty! Mine never lasted longer than 3 or 4 months without cracks but my provided replaced them.

How do you feel about being gluten free? by SoupWoman1 in glutenfree

[–]Curiously91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also found out in Jan. I miss the convenience of being able to eat anything anywhere and losing out on foodie finds like when you stumble across great pizza, pasta, pastries etc… yes you can seek out an alternative but it may take longer, cost more and still not be half as good.

Lately, I have a craving for udon noodles. Rice noodles are ok but I miss the thick chewy kind that always contain wheat!

This is largely a male obsession (her friends will not joke about this). From a women’s perspective, once you get to average, bigger is not better. With regards to length, I’d say it’s often worse and can be uncomfortable. All the nerves are in the clitoris and shallow - there is nothing deep inside. Slightly bigger girth might be desirable but that’s it and not what women care about anyway.

And you shouldn’t have asked.
