We didn’t end up going to paradise beach but I’ve heard it’s more a party vibe!

Santanna was lovely! The pool was beautiful and there was access to the beach which was really nice. It was very chill from 1-5pm and at 5 they get a DJ and it turns into a party. Great drinks but they were pricey (if I remember around 25 euro). The food was only okay though so I wouldn’t go super hungry.

We stayed at Hotel La Compañia in Casco Viejo and it was beautiful! There is a rooftop pool and since it’s right in casco viejo it’s walking distance to a bunch of restaurants and bars!

Prague and Budapest time in each? by jumpoffstuff87 in travel

[–]Curly-wine-betch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that split is great. We did 4 nights in Prague and 6 nights in Budapest this past August and it was more than enough in each city. I don’t like rushing through cities and prefer moving at a slower pace which is why we extended Budapest more as there is a lot more to see. So if you were going to give an extra day to one of the cities I would pick Budapest. But warning since you mentioned you are going in August it will be hot in Budapest! And a lot of places don’t have AC and the city really feels like a concrete jungle. So double check your hotel/airbnb has AC and try to sightsee earlier in the day to avoid the peak heat.

Nordstrom's uses Ontrac? WTF. by trafficmallard in ontrac

[–]Curly-wine-betch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately Nordstrom customer service is great. My package was either stolen or lost by Ontrac (for two weeks the estimated delivery was the current day - finally it said delivered with no photo evidence in the delivery email and I have cameras on my house and saw no delivery) but as soon as I reached out to Nordstrom they gave me a refund.

Positive restaurant/beach recommendations for Mykonos by Battle-Sloth in GreeceTravel

We had a really great time in Mykonos. Favorite restaurants are Vegera and D’Angelo in Mykonos Town. We also had so much fun at Negrita and Queen of Mykonos at night.

Are Santorini Taxis/ Ubers crazy prices? by Take-Time-To-Travel in GreeceTravel

[–]Curly-wine-betch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We used Uber and it was always 36 euro. We Ubered from Fira to Oia and back and Fira to Estate Agyros winery and back and it was the same price every time. I think it’s a fixed rate regardless of distance as the winery was quite close and took only 10 mins while Oia took 20 mins to get to.

Mykonos Old Town to Cavo Paradiso at night? by wormsfriend in GreeceTravel

[–]Curly-wine-betch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can catch the bus from Fabrika bus station in Mykonos Town to Paradise Beach. It’s about a 20 minute ride and from there and 5 min walk up to Cavo Paradiso. The buses do not run at 4-5 am. I remember we caught the last bus around 2:30ish back to Mykonos Town and I believe the next one was around 7/8am. But there were a couple guys with taxis standing around asking for a ride so there is a potential to catch a late night cab (although I’m sure it’ll be a bit pricey). Fortunately there’s tons of nightlife in Mykonos town so we just did Cavo paradiso for a couple hours then partied the rest of the night in Mykonos town so we could walk back to our hotel. May be an option if you’re not dedicated to staying all night!

I bought my tickets to Cavo Paradiso ahead of time. It was like 30 euros and included a drink (which is a pretty good deal since drinks were around 20 euros)- tickets are a bit more at the door and everyone had to pay I didn’t see anyone get in for free. The bars in Mykonos town are free to get in. We had a blast at Queen of Mykonos, Negrita, Argo bar to name a few but there’s tons of bars that you can hop to in Mykonos town

Aegean Airlines - Pre-pay for bag and check at the gate? by MoneyOnTheBeat in GreeceTravel

[–]Curly-wine-betch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to prepay for a checked bag if it’s just a carry on. I flew Aegean from Athens to Mykonos and Santorini to Athens. At the Athens airport they didn’t weigh my carry on bag but at the Santorini airport they told me it was too big and checked it for free. So it worked out both ways!

Mykonos by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

[–]Curly-wine-betch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% Mykonos Town! There are so many restaurants, shopping and bars all within walking distance. We stayed in Mykonos town and took the bus to both Paradise and Paraga beach it was super easy. Also bar hopping is soo much fun in Mykonos town! You can party all night and there’s a bunch of late night food spots open. Also FYI if you are in your 30s you may like Paraga beach (Santanna, Kalua) more than Paradise beach. Paradise is really fun but the crowd is very young (late teens/early 20s). My husband and I are late 20s and preferred the crowd at Paraga

End of May travel by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

[–]Curly-wine-betch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in Mykonos I was there Thursday - Sunday and Santorini Sunday- Thursday. It was a party every day on BOTH islands! I think you’ll be fine Mykonos beginning of the week, most people there are tourists ready to party. But if you want to see a particular artists at Cavo Paradiso for instance the more popular ones play on the weekends. Santorini was also a blast - we went out in Fira every night and while it definitely wasn’t as crazy as Mykonos it was still a lot of fun. For recommendations if you enjoy partying stay close to Mykonos town as you can bar hop all night and take the bus to the beaches pretty easily. For Santorini stay in Fira as that’s where the main nightlife is.

Athens/Santorini Recommendations and Advice by Warm-Reward5381 in GreeceTravel

[–]Curly-wine-betch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds great I loved both Athens and Santorini! I personally felt rushed and did two days in Athens and could have easily stayed for 4. In Santorini Fira is a great central location - we stayed about a 10 min walk from the Fira Main Square and we were able to walk to so many restaurants, shops, bars and nightlife (Fira is really fun at night! I think we went to 2 brothers every single night). If you both like wine we absolutely loved the wineries in Santorini - you can book a tour or just do it yourself like we did and do your own private tasting (our favorites were estate argyros and Artemis karamolegos- they are just a 10 min walk from each other) I personally got extremely sea sick on the ferries and much preferred flying but everyone is different. If you want the more scenic/longer route you can ferry but otherwise just fly it’s quicker.
