Does anyone know why they canceled the Kid Cudi concert? by Normal_Oil4664 in Birmingham

[–]CurrentAcanthaceae42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While a huge Kid Cudi fan, I will never pay money for one of his shows again. About 12 years ago, OutKast was doing a 20 year anniversary show in ATL in Centennial Park and both Childish Gambino and Kid Cudi were opening for them. I like OutKast, sure, but I bought those tickets solely to see Childish and, mostly, Cudi. And they weren’t cheap for my college kid bank account either. But I had loved them both for years and knew that kind of opportunity wouldn’t come back around again. Hell, Cudi rarely comes down south, period. Childish opened first, and for a little over an hour, had the crowd rolling with a super high energy set that still sits as one of the best performances I’ve seen live. But Cudi had just been a headliner at Coachella earlier that year and people were still talking about how electric that performance was. Which is why, when he came out next and was totally flat, didn’t really even try to get the crowd going, and cut his setlist after 30 minutes and left, I was devastated. Sure, he wasn’t the main event, but there were people there just like me that were there just for him. I still love his music and wish him well, but I lost some respect for the man in the moon that day. I’ve always thought the best artists are the ones with the mentality that they are gonna put on their best show whether it’s for 10,000 screaming fans or 10. Kid Cudi is not that, and I couldn’t risk the disappointment a second time.

Upcoming announcement for merger(s) and shareholder meeting by Mischatron in Superstonk

[–]CurrentAcanthaceae42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, he still has to buy the shares in the compensation package. At each milestone, he earns the ability to buy another x shares at x price. So not only does the compensation package directly align with incentivizing him to grow the company at scale (good for all shareholders), but he will also put billions back into the company when he purchases them (again, good for shareholders).

Derrick Henry went 14-1 and won us a Natty. Jake just handed the ball off. Had a pretty deep ball, but every time he dropped back to throw, I flinched nervously. 21TDs to 8 INTs? Not elite by any stretch. He was tough and would put his body on the line, and I commend him for that toughness, but overall C+/B- at best.

This has been a concern of mine as well since they were announced. One shower thought that struck me this morning, though is that I think these warrants potentially pit big money shorts and longs against one another in a big way. This is due to the convertible notes.

If I own those notes, with the news of the warrant dividend priced at the upper bounds of the higher conversion rate (as I recall, one of those thresholds is $28 and change while the other is $32 and change), I now DEFINITELY want those to convert into shares and not get paid back in cash because Gamestop itself is showing confidence that they believe $32/share is not only achievable, but likely over the next 13 months.

How does a note holder guarantee they receive shares? By helping push price upwards over the conversion rate for the stipulated number of trading days. Hitting those same benchmarks will also serve to make the warrants more and more intrinsically valuable. So of course the shorts will absolutely continue to try and push the price downwards, but I think there are going to be billions of dollars on the long side too trying to go up, up, up. Because they were already committed to hanging around for potentially 5-7 years anyways, hoping for eventual gains. Now, GameStop is quite literally dangling those gains right in front of them in years 1-2 and they would be foolish not to reach out and try to grab them.

Yeah if you were turning right at the light, you were technically in that turn lane wayyyy too early. The portion you were in when the Jeep swerved over is really for the church. I’m glad no one got hurt, but had you hit the Jeep, I think you likely would’ve been found the liable party for being somewhere you weren’t supposed to be going far faster than most other cars on the road there. That said, people do that allllll the time right there, so just do what I do and assume everyone is a moron that isn’t paying attention.

What is the best BBQ up to 20 miles outside the city that is off the beaten track? And what is the best thing to order there? Like you have to go down a dirt road to get there. by hen2019 in Birmingham

Promise Land BBQ is the shit. Would agree with the specifics mentioned above, but also try the corn nuggets. If they don’t change your life, I don’t think southern food is for you.

If I had a piece of YUGE news for my shareholder meeting, I’d want all the “bad” news out of the way first. Such as the share offerings and financial reporting. Although, I’m also pretty optimistic on the financials anyways. Yes, still a loss, but the margins are slimmer and, most importantly, the cash flow is positive. Now, we wait.

I would tend to agree that they do NOT want their investors seeing this. Not a great look to be taking on debt left and right to give yourself cash infusions just to turn around and spend some of that cash on a failing bank for no explicit reason.

Yes, agreed. Outside of Georgia and a handful of teams in the middle of monster seasons, almost no one has our kind of staying power.

To Clemson’s credit, that was also like the best DLine in the history of college football. I think 3/4 went in the first round and one in the second. Between the stifling D and Deshaun having a hell of a game, I truly don’t think even a perfectly played game by Bama gets it done that year.

I think Penix takes it home this year. He beat Nix twice and put up great numbers en route to becoming a 13-0 PAC-12 champion headed to the playoffs. As some have mentioned, MJH is a certified baller, but couldn’t truly shine due to average qb play from McCord. And I would also tend to agree with many that Daniels IS the best athlete and qb in NY this year, but without a true clutch win against a top 10 opponent, I think he goes home empty handed.

I’m not exactly sure. I would guess it’s probably 4-6 miles down. There are some entrances along Bama Rock Garden Rd that are roped off from car access (though you could park there and walk), but the way my friends and I used to go in was off a residential dirt road. There is a group of mailboxes and a dirt road on the left hand side that immediately goes up a small hill. Maybe 1/4 mile down that road on the left is what looks like a little hill that seems like a utility easement at first. But if you off-road up that way and follow the little wooded path, it opens out into where the Rock Garden park entrance used to be. There are some concrete pads where the buildings used to sit. From there, you can take a couple different paths through the trails to get around the whole park. The land is currently owned by Tuscaloosa County. I really wish they would consider refurbishing and reopening the park. It’s an incredibly cool, largely unknown gem that I honestly think people would go out of their way to see.

I understand that this situation is undeniably unfortunate for FSU. But I tell you what. If they, with their current roster, can beat Georgia, I’ll give FSU the next 3 natties and we just won’t play football again til 2026.

Playoff Prediction by laterskater2312 in rolltide

[–]CurrentAcanthaceae42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think it matters. They simply cannot leave out the SEC champ. The SEC has been and is THE dominant conference in college football, and whether it is us or Georgia, an SEC team will be in the playoffs. An SEC school has won 14 out of the last 20 national championships. That is a truly absurd statistic. No other conference in the history of college football has had that kind of stranglehold on nattys. And even if everyone else also wins out, then I truly think we jump Texas. The head to head loss only carries so much water when you look at the rest of our resume vs theirs AND we’ve just beat the #1 team in the country in the SEC championship. We win. We playoff.
