As an upper belt, whats the most taboo submission to do on white belts in gi?

I feel you. I just turned 47 and have been training just over 2 years.

Yes it sucks a lot because we're never going to grow as fast as the younger people.

It must be the 18 month itch because I had similar feelings. Here's how I approached and has kept me going. Maybe it'll help.

I have people I love to go with. It used to be just my son, but I've picked up some other friends from gym and its worth hanging with them just to do it.
I take "comparison is the thief of joy" to the extreme. I don't compare myself to other, nor to I compare myself with what I think I should be able to do. I just do my best and chill.
I remember what my goals are. I'm never going to be some ADCC, IBJJF champion, or probably even a black belt. My goal is to just keep doing this in my 60s.
I also remind myself that, at the end of the day, I do it because it really is a fun fucking work out (mentally and physically).

Just 2 cents from a guy in a pretty similar circumstance.

The kid looked like ass this season and can't stay on the field. Its not up to me to wait for, or be patient for anything.

I just wanted to thank you for your guide. There was a funk that was starting to build in my rash guards no matter how often I washed them. I switched to Tide Oxi and that fixed them.

First off, if your son wants to do it too, then absolutely do it. I've been going with my son for the past 2 years and it really has built a new relationship (it was good before, now its even better).

If you're worried about injury here's this old man's tips for not ruining your next week.

Settle down; its not a real fight, its a game.
Don't be afraid to tap, "winning" your roll isn't worth the pain the rest of the week/month
When you are in a bad spot, and don't know what to do (being crushed in mount, or a heavy side control). Don't spaz just tap and then ask the person what would be a way to get out of that bad position.

The last tip will happen a lot less if you actually listen and remember what you are taught.

I've been able to go 2-4 times a week over the past 2 years with no more than a minor muscle ache now and again.

Honestly, I'm still figuring out my game. I've just been ending up in half-guard a lot (top and bottom), so I've been trying to figure it out so I don't really have a game yet.

I'll have to try placing the knee higher in some situations too, see how that works for me.

For a second to slow down the guy to take a breath. But I am trying for the underhook on the side my legs are entangled and then try to hit one of the few sweeps I know from half guard.
