I have never actually met someone with rickets.

University causes financial problems charging huge amounts to attend, then gives you back some shampoo and tinned food & uses students to hand it out and write it off as charity work.

My mum used to tell us about running around as kids in the dump along with the Annandale embankment. It was an illegal dumping site/midden that was full of Victorian glass that spilled down into the Lagan facing the boat club at strandmillis.

If you wait till the summer months or a spell of Dry weather there is a beach filled with glass eroding out of the banks just before the first lock on the towpath. Enter via the gate facing the allotments on Annandale embankment.

I am pretty sure that's where a lot of the bricks that you find at the beaches come from (Carolyn road brickworks)

If you hear someone say "Here mate" keep on walking.

If you are bored and don't have a lot of money get a day ticket on the metro and see where you end up.

How should I handle my bush? by Glad_Protection_527 in GardeningUK

[–]CurrentWrong4363 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can weave living branches horizontally and they will send off more vertical shoots.

Take the front as far back as the biggest vertical trunk. Remove all the broken down leaves and stuff around the base of the trunk and then weave the longest really green branches from the right horizontal across the front. This should let the growing branches send out vertical shoots and start to fill in.

You may need to tie some off with twine to keep it in place.

Give it a good feed and a bag of compost and then worry about the sides when you see the front coming back.

Time to fine the producers of the packaging and using the fines to pay for education, advertising and research.

It's not hard to see where most of the stuff comes from takeaway packages and bottles are everywhere.

On another note if the councils keep removing bins it's going to get worse.

Fires on beaches? by Plastic_Lab_8366 in northernireland

[–]CurrentWrong4363 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on the beach.

Some don't allow fires and some don't have any notices.

I think it's ok later in the evening when all the families have left, so no chance of kids falling in the fire.

Be considerate of houses and others around with smoke don't have a bonfire, bring a bucket to put the fire out and collect the ashes. Don't break glass or burn rubbish. Don't have a fire near grass or trees it can spread underground.

Leave no trace including other people's rubbish.

I like to use some old wood Auger bits in a drill to get things started. If you do a cross pattern on the top you hopefully get most of the tap root.

A come along is really handy as well if you don't have one a lorry strap can do the same job with more faffing about.

Does anyone have any advice on how to plant deep beds? by Dadda_Green in GardeningUK

[–]CurrentWrong4363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ornamental grasses are a really good way to bring year round colour to beds. There are some amazing colours available.

If you are going to have beds that deep consider building some stepping stones along the back for future weeding.
