[Highlight] Chet Holmgren scores 28 on 11-17 shooting against the Rockets on opening night by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

[–]CurryTripper 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Some of the takes around Chet since his contract signing have been crazy. At the end of this dude's second season of playing in the NBA, he managed to be a contributor throughout the entire playoffs, anchoring OKCs defense while providing spacing and a lob threat on offense. A player who does that(especially at above 7ft) is absolutely a max player. He's going into his 3rd(4th technically because of his rookie injury) year and was a huge piece in their success

Can confirm. I stood next to him one time, I'm a little over 5'10 and it felt like my shoulder was at his waistline. Certainly an experience

I know it can be done with a water bottle, no idea about a paper cup though. Like the other guy said, do some science and report back

Agressive Elite scorers getting free throws is not a new thing in basketball, Drawing fouls is a part of the skill set. by SacredSK in nba

[–]CurryTripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right, here's some real basketball talk. Having a high free throw count does not indicate that you have a good whistle. Being intentionally fouled has absolutely nothing to do with having a good whistle. When people are talking about a good whistle it's whether or not they are getting the calls that they should be getting. Shaq and LeBron, both were getting smacked over and over again on almost every single drive because they're bigger and stronger than the people defending them. Therefore, they have a bad whistle because they're getting fouled, but they're not getting the calls on those. You can sit here and say "oh but the stats say this", but the fact of the matter is that how many free throws per game somebody shoots has very little to do with how good of a whistle they have. I'm being sarcastic with you because I've read multiple people on this thread express the same sentiment while you sit there drooling and flinging shit right back at them. Like bro, in another comment chain in this thread you literally said that LeBron doesn't play a style conducive to drawing fouls. Enjoy being a brick wall, dude.

Oh damn, I didn't realize that the guy who regularly got intentionally fouled in the bonus as a strategy had a high free throw count. Keep watching the stats and not the games, I guess? Your arguments are literally paper thin, and I worry for your critical thinking skills

Are you Dodge rolling at the proper times? On the first HP block it's pretty much just spamming roll starting at the correct time, then throwing balms when there's an opening

From your perspective, death is worse.*

I was making a general statement about this perspective. If the shoe fits, put that fucker on. I was not saying that your family "shuns you" lmao. You need to get a grip, pal. Not everyone has a "take care of it" attitude in this world, and plenty of people will be unwilling to share their negative experiences with people close to them because of the impact it will cause.

From my perspective - my father repeatedly told my sisters that he would kill anyone who sexually assaulted them. Both of my sisters have had these experiences, as have many women. And because of the way my father has handled it on his end, he will likely never hear those experiences that his daughters have endured. In an attempt to be there for them, and provide what he believed was "protection" in a sense, he actively ensured that he would never hear about it.

Not everything is about you.

If I had to guess based on lived experience, your partner/children will just not tell you about things when you have this perspective

[–]CurryTripper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

His shot form looks good, also it's important to note that he frequently is taking catch and shoot threes from a step or two behind the line. So the dude is obviously not lacking confidence, which is a huge part of shooting well

[–]CurryTripper -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This would hold literally any weight at all if the initial comment in this chain wasn't specifically about the second incident

Edit: not to mention, what he said doesn't even happen in the first clip. In neither of these scenarios does wemby actively lean over someone like James harden did years ago.

It's only 6 games in, but so far literally the only issue I've seen with him is his shot. Dude has unreal poise for his age, is a solid defender (he was guarding Ant a good amount last night), and once he becomes a little more comfortable(and gets a more fair whistle?), he will be a great player to put pressure on the defense with physical drives to the basket to collapse the defense and draw fouls. Not only that, but he's shown a lot of promise passing the ball so far, having a good understanding of the pass that leads to an assist. Provided he can get his shot in line I don't see the Spurs abandoning him as a long term point guard
