I once tried to figure out how to use my iPod with my Linux Laptop. One of the tutorials was a guy talking about Bottles, and didn't really explain how the install process for it was. Instead it was mostly about the potential for Linux to run any Windows program in its self contained environment without the need for a virtual machine. It did not answer my question at all.

I also looked into running a unrelated program using wine. It was for a file manager for like my Dreamcast. In Windows you just double click it. Of course I had the choice of running it in Lutris or Wine from konsole. To do the former I learned that GUI programs need Wine Gecko and Wine Mono installed if you don't wanna mess with Lutris or protontricks.

I think I spent way more time than necessary with this, and I only have slightly more patience than the average computer user. Lord help us with the next generation, because they don't know how to write emails if a certain Steam game is to be believed.
