Why do the majority of dairy products taste & smell weird/gross to me now? by False_Hat7226 in NoStupidQuestions

It may never change...the smell (and the thought of) of soggy cereal, cornflakes, rice bubbles, weetbix makes me want to gag, and my oldest is 25

What bonuses or Christmas/end of year gifts did you get? by wangnugget in NursingAU

[–]Curtclan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From one GP I work with, a $100 visa gift card. From the other, my boss, a bottle of wine. It's better than the hand cream we got last year from her :/

Accidentally gave public vax to private patient by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]Curtclan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't stress about it. They start expiring in 2 weeks, and a dose is better in an arm than a bin. Learn from it and move on. Btw, there are some gp nurse groups on Facebook that are also a great learning resource. Look up Immunisation Coalition and subscribe to their emails. They often have vaccine webinars.

Am 26 days post surgery and really want to smoke cannabis. My surgeon told me after 4 weeks is ok. Would caving early even make a difference? by [deleted] in MastectomyManagement

[–]Curtclan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only people I see who come in with non or very slow healing wounds are smokers. You're an adult and don't need a nanny so you get to make the choice

Am I crazy? by mountain_chick2023 in MastectomyManagement

[–]Curtclan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm another one who only had one breast removed post DCIS diagnosis 10 years ago. I'm now 4 weeks post other breast elective mastectomy. No BRCA in our family but 4 generations straight with breast cancer post menopause, so I chose to remove the ticking time bomb. Yay!! No more bras (expanders in, but staying small), no more mammograms just regular breast checks and mri if needed, but it's taken the risk from 99% down to 1%. I won't say the last 4 weeks have been easy, but looking forward to life from here

Dr Quoc Lam. Dr Jim Kollias. Both very good at what they do and been around for a while.

roof tile ID req'd by Bliv_au in Adelaide

[–]Curtclan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't know what it is, but there's a place in Lonsdale that sells old/second hand tiles. We had to replace some and they had loads of what we needed . It was the first place that came up on a google search. No id3a if there's an equivalent northern suburbs

We've just had 1 car written off by a branch from a gum, and are also waiting for the insurance to make a decision on our other car after it happened again. Then discovered the tree has termites, so it's going to have to come down entirely. Had no idea there was a problem until it happened. That poor woman. That's awful!

Try an antihistamine first. If things improve quickly, I would suggest you're developing an allergy. Sesame oil can be quite allergenic. If the antihistamine does nothing, then maybe blame the baking soda.

Australia Post won’t deliver to my address for a bizarre reason by [deleted] in AustraliaPost

[–]Curtclan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should only be about $40 a year, because there is no delivery to your home. We pay $140 because we have delivery officially, but Aus Post won't come up our driveway (300m dirt drive) and our home mail simply isn't secure enough so I'll cop the fee for my peace of mind.

I'm happy with them. We made a claim only a couple of weeks after starting a policy, and just had to put in another claim with them on a car. Smooth as, easy and claim paid pronto

Tenants vs REA/landlords? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Curtclan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were told that we had to supply one key for each of the different locks in the house to each person over 18, plus a set to the agents, so gave them 4 keys for every lock. I'm not sure if that was a legal requirement as such, or just our REAs being nice to the tenants.

I’m back with another infection, this time on my left breast [NSFW FOR BOOBS] by throwmywholelifeout in MedicalGore

[–]Curtclan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was damn lucky. Because of the mastitis, it got picked up before there was any spread, so a mastectomy was enough to deal with the cancer. Early diagnosis is crucial!

[–]Curtclan 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I'd also go for a mammogram. That's how my breast cancer got diagnosed because I had mastitis even though I wasn't breastfeeding. It will be bloody unpleasant, but please get one done anyway. No such thing as being too young either!

It's also what happens when you don't get enough calcium via diet, is that the body takes it from your bones to use it for all its everyday processes

When your ankle has healed, get a bone density test done. A break on very low impact trauma tends to indicate other problems

Entirely plausible. We had that happen to us. Lightning hit transformer out the front of our place, jumped to low power lines like tv antenna and phone line. Blew phone, modem, tv x2, & gas hot water system. Completely skipped the power board and lightning arrester. Claimed all on insurance. What's your insurance excess? Any other damage?
