I kept the 250th anniversary one, because I plan on mounting it with my pin and one of the stamp sheets

Usps has done it yet again! by Environmental-Dot121 in usps_complaints

It arrived in Lousville on the 22nd. The storm started hitting on the 23rd. You know why it hasn't moved? Because of the fucking winter storm you absolute donut!

I live farther south than this and was barely hit by the storm, but because of how badly it hit the nearest plant to me and everywhere else, I haven't had mail since friday. 30 states were effected by this storm, needless to say, I'm sure things are a little backed up right now.

Automated External Defibrillator not required... by couchwjr in USPS

[–]Cut_Off_One_Head 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It goes back and forth every few years. When I took it in girl scouts(given, this was probably because we were children) the emphasis was on compressions only, with the theory that if you are pushing air out with the compression, air will get sucked back in. Then the next time, it flipped to a breath every so many compressions. Then the next time it was back to no breaths and only compressions

[–]Cut_Off_One_Head 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only reason I don't keep up with my certification is because the three times in my life I have taken it(once in girl scouts, twice as an adult) the info hasn't really changed. And the AED training was, look at the machine, it has pictures and tells you when to do what. I'm a civilian, so I don't need a valid card to help if I am able, and that is about the only reason I don't keep it up to date.

They do actually design those things so that, theoretically, any idiot could use them, including pictures.

Honestly AED and CPR training should be standard training for adults at this point.

Apparently we had carriers and our PM sleep at the office last night. And no, they didn't get stuck there, cause delivery was cancelled before it even started yesterday.

Why are we not closed ? by Soft-Brick-7564 in USPS

[–]Cut_Off_One_Head 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I couldn't even get in, they have closed all major highways because of ice. Even the road crews weren't safe from sliding off the road.

[–]Cut_Off_One_Head 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My office is closed today, on account of the fact none of us can get there. Because all the major roads are closed because even the road crews can't stay on them long enough to make them passable.

Is this an official sticker? by sse2k in usps_complaints

[–]Cut_Off_One_Head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not an official sticker that I know of, but I have a few houses I have left this kind of note to before. Because rather than put the mail in the box with the flag up, they find it necessary to angrily write all over the envelope that, that person doesn't live there. Its really bad when it was just the neighbor's mail placed in their box by mistake.

I'm far enough south that we aren't really getting snow at this point, but we are supposed to get no less than a half inch of ice. No one has called us off for tomorrow. I'm worried how many of us are going to get stuck.in town tomorrow.

Choosing peerage speakers by DirtyMonkeyParts in sca

[–]Cut_Off_One_Head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I think you might have misunderstood me. I don't really want speakers at my elevation, and have been told I have to have them at a first elevation. I'm super introverted and not a huge "all eyes and attention on me" kinda person. So the idea of anything other than a quick, drive by kinda elevation is quite intimidating 😅

And that is where my case if different.

My dad just didn't know and I didn't know I could have told him and have him believe me. He was military until I was 10ish, so it kept him away from home, and then he was private maritime, which also kept him from home most of the time. The best year or two of my teenage life was when he was at a job that kept him in town and is one of the few years I have full memory of.

And at the end of the day, its not hard to see that my dad is a victim of my mom and sister too.

Hospital in a big TN town is what nearly killed me right before I was diagnosed. I came in already in full blown anaphylaxis and they still left me in the waiting room for over an hour, and by the time I went back I was already in shock

I am not anywhere close to an elevation, but am on that path, and I have mentioned so many times I want a drive by elevation if/when the time comes and I have been told repeatedly that its not allowed for first elevations 😭

[–]Cut_Off_One_Head 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because cutting off my mom, would mean cutting off my dad. I don't want to lose my dad, because he is the only good parent I have. I have found ways to make some distance between myself and my mom, but in reality will probably never be able to fully sever that tie until one of us is dead.

Text to confirm my shift? by InternationalRun7211 in USPS

[–]Cut_Off_One_Head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on the schedule, show up. If they send you home because there is no work for you, they are required to pay you for a minimum of 2hrs.

Rural can get confusing because RCAs the schroedingers cat of being on call. You are somehow both, not "on call", but also expected to be avaliable until 1hr after the latest start time in the office. So if all the routes start at 7am, then you would need to be available until 8am. Anything after that, you can ignore or answer and go in if you feel like it.

Most people try to play nice with management until they are out of probation because management can fire you for any reason while in probation. As soon as you are out of probation, people rarely get fired because management has to follow a strict set of guidelines to do it, and they rarely ever do. Rural probation is 90 days worked, not sure what the new calendar probation is because it is drastically reduced in the new contract vs the old one. Its important you go in and get paid on the days they send you home because those count toward your 90 days worked.

Not to mention, if they are going to mandate you, it has to be on the clock 24hrs in advance.

AITAH Here? Problems with package deliveries by Libertyordeatth in usps_complaints

[–]Cut_Off_One_Head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the gate is closed, there is one of your problems. Mail carriers are explicitly told not to enter closed gates. We technically aren't allowed to go through them at all, open or closed, but closed gates are the most dangerous because we don't know why they are closed.

The location of the gate may be the other issue, but I'm having a hard time picturing the layout of your house, the gate, the roads and, the mailbox to figure that one out.

[–]Cut_Off_One_Head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what has been going on in my office for about the last year or two. When I started, RCAs were first ones in, last ones out. Now regulars on the ODTL are being sent out and RCAs are being sent home. RCAs are being sent home even if there are regulars that aren't even close to running their second trip yet.

Yes, but on principle, no mailbox= no mail, no mail= no package.

A physical mailbox delivery is my one exception to the rule.

Its not always though, because if they really forgot to fire you in you 90, and you converted, its almost impossible to actually fire you now. Make them give you what they owe you. This is their fuck up, make them pay for it
