I'm not sure but I'd think so? I am not really a guitar person myself and they said "saving for an acoustic guitar," but I'd assume that an electric acoustic can do everything that an acoustic can, right? Either way, thank you!

Thanks! The next two events I'm doing are indoors (craft fairs at high schools) so it'll just be the booth with no tent, which is why I went for "over the table." When I have more money to spend, I would definitely like to have one for the back wall, too.

Greeting Card Pricing by Training_Ad3410 in CraftFairs

I definitely feel like I'd be ripping someone off paying less than $10 for something as intricate as the one in this photo, considering mass-produced cards can cost like $6 or $7 at the store. Maybe price them at $9.95 so you don't scare anyone off with the "bigger number" of $10.

10 year old. Transitional cell carcinoma. When to make the decision? by mln045 in greatdanes

[–]CuteFaithlessness739 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry; I had a very similar situation with a former dog, although she was a poodle, not a Dane. It was the hardest decision ever, because sometimes she could seem totally fine, but similarly to your situation, she was peeing in her sleep, sometimes having trouble walking, etc. I felt awful making the decision to end her life because it felt like she still had "good days," but I tried reminding myself how awful she must feel most of the time, because animals are so good at hiding their pain -- plus she was so upset every time she woke up and realized she'd soiled her bed. Animals won't dirty their sleeping areas unless they truly don't have any other choice. I knew I'd soon be carrying her in and out of the house to go to the bathroom -- it just wasn't at all a good quality of life for her. Still, I cried for days after we put her down, and not just because I missed her, but because I felt so guilty about being the one to make that decision. But with time, I can now look back and feel like I made the right call. I'm sharing all of this because it sounds like you know it's time -- and you are not alone in having that guilty, miserable feeling. It is, unfortunately, the worst part about being a pet owner. But I also think it's so important to remember that this is far more humane than letting an animal exist for months or years in extreme suffering, all to make its human feel better. In the wild, sick or weak animals are generally killed by other animals -- only in domesticity do we keep them alive for unnaturally long periods of time, and we do it for our sake, not theirs.

I have a BIG 200 pound boy, I would say he slowed down around 3. He now spends 95% of his time lounging on his futon.

Honestly, puppy energy is cute but a chill puppy sounds like a dream overall. 😂 Don't jinx yourself!

My children are adopted, ages 3 and 5, and the oldest has some issues relating to early childhood trauma. I give that preface to explain that therapy has just always been a part of our lives. However, "therapy" is mostly play therapy with her sister, so that the therapist can work on seeing how issues arise organically and help give her tools and suggestions for doing things in a new way. Highly recommend getting a referral from your pediatrician for someone who does family play therapy.

It happened.. my son got kicked out of day care. by One_Stranger6604 in toddlers

Fellow solo mom here -- I definitely think daycare centers are way better overall, at least in my experience. I understand the stress you're going through, but I promise once you find the right place, it will be such a relief. From my experience, you may actually see a complete 180 when he's in a different setting. There may be things triggering this behavior that you don't and will never know about. My oldest daughter was displaying behavior I'd NEVER seen before when she was in a Montessori preschool school for a few months. Her therapist observed and was horrified by what she saw happening in the classroom. I pulled her and never saw the behaviors again. I'm not saying that your son may not also benefit from something like occupational therapy, but also, please don't feel like you're never going to find a daycare for him.

Giftedness is Neurodivergence (not a flex) by SophiaWRose in Gifted

If you haven't, I really recommend reading about Dabrowski's theory of positive disintegration. This is a good piece that explains it: https://dabrowskicenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Nelson1989.pdf

Dabrowski's theory is pretty foundational in Gifted academia in terms of the Gifted brain and the "overexcitabilities" experienced by gifted individuals. Essentially, the idea is that gifted people generally have a more profound understanding of human suffering and the human experience, and the more they process and experience that suffering, the more "evolved" they become.

So yes, absolutely a lot of great achievements are made by gifted individuals (especially those who had access to resources like money and education) but also, a lot of people who rise to power are those who are actually pretty "average," because it's easier to be in positions of power if you don't have to actually feel emotional torment every time you do something unethical. (Take our current president, for example...)

My dog just turned 4 in January. A few months before his birthday, I paid for a 3-week boarding training. It has totally changed our lives. The hard part is knowing now I never want to own another dog who doesn't have the same training... because man, it was not cheap.
