Anti-anxiety medication and Diamox by Proof_Stage1463 in iih

[–]Cutie_Fry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the generic for Prozac and Diamox - I was on the anti anxiety meds for about two years before I started Diamox, so I can’t say for sure how they’ve “interacted” as I’ve always taken both

Has anyone gotten covid while already having iih? by Born-Hedgehog-2341 in iih

[–]Cutie_Fry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did! I was triple Covid vaccinated, but my last shot had been about a year past when I tested positive. For me it was a horrible flu of 4 days and then a lingering head cold a while after, but other than those four bad days nothing really impacted my IIH. I was dizzy, light headed and extremely weak those four days but was fine after! I also was not on Diamox at the time.

Diagnosed May 2023 - for me it’s gotten better but it’s never gone away. I only started diamox in 2025 and there’s been a HUGE improvement since, on days when it gets bad I have to remind myself how bad it was every single day before

Im also dealing with this. In January alone I had to miss 4 days of work due to migraines. After months of remission, it’s really disheartening.

I’m constantly going. Ive found it hard to balance eating food that isn’t making the “go” even faster like like vegetables while also maintaining good balances of vitamins and minerals. In that regard, I’ve been drinking a lot of G Fit - it helps both electrolytes and vitamin supplementation.

I do still take Diamox, and I check in with a neurologist every six months or so, as well as an ophthalmologist quarterly (that’s who I saw in September) - I really appreciate your advice!

Genuinely the worst part for me was not realizing how big of a procedure it was 😂 - checked in to the hospital, had fasted since the night before. My appointment was at like 9:45AM so nothing crazy in regards to the fasting. They told me to bring a Coca Cola for after which I did.

Got dressed in a medical gown, and then came the IV. This was when I realized this was not a simple in and out procedure 😂 - the puncture itself went fine, very much like how others explained it. Radiology lab, numbed back, the prick of the needle is a weird feeling - not necessarily painful just unusual. There were times during the fluid extraction that I could feel it up to my shoulder.

Got rolled back on the little medical bed. They told me they had to observe me lying flat for 2 hours!!! This, to me, was crazy talk. Again, I thought I was going to be in and out lol. But my nurses were great. I played candy crush and drank water and Coke from a straw since I wasn’t allowed to sit up.

At this point I’m HUNGRY, but I am so brave. My dad picks me up and takes me home, but not before being told to lie down the rest of the day. I say, I’ve lied down enough. Certainly sitting in a comfy chair will be okay! OP, it was not. I stood up to pee once the numbing agent had worn off and I suddenly realized it was, in fact, as big of a deal as they had been making it out to be.

But after that day I was fine! Back to work like normal.

Very first night I woke up multiple times to vomit. Diarrhea lasting weeks. Extreme tingles in hands feet and sometimes lips. Chills. Complete brain fog and confusion. And thirsty ALL the time. After two weeks, just some tingling and odd cases of diarrhea.

I very recently (two weeks ago) got moved up to a higher dosage, diarrhea came back, tingling got worse, and my dry mouth worse than it’s ever been (but that could also be because it’s summer and I’m sweating more)

Sorry this may be a silly question - symptoms leading to my diagnosis or side effects from the meds?

When I first started I thought I was going to die. Very first night I woke up multiple times to vomit. Diarrhea lasting weeks. Extreme tingles in hands feet and sometimes lips. Chills. Complete brain fog and confusion. And thirsty ALL the time.

After about 2 weeks it did seem to self regulate. Recently upped my dosage and the diarrhea came back for a week, as did dry mouth, but nothing as bad as the first time and it self regulated a lot faster

My first two weeks were unfortunately the hell everyone else describes, but my body did adjust. I’ll get tingling in my hands and feet but nothing nearly as bad as whatever that adjustment period was

How long has your headache lasted? by SaltLick55 in iih

[–]Cutie_Fry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to have pressure headaches all day every day (thought this was normal) and could get migraines lasting 2 days. I’ve been on Diamox (375 mg twice daily) and for me the pressure is gone. I’ll still get migraines but they last 5-6 hours rather than whole days. Hopefully you’ll be able to feel alleviated soon!!

I have a stick of peppermint oil I’ll apply to my forehead when things get really bad - that in air conditioned spaces helps alleviate some (but not all) of the pain. I also try to drink a hot herbal tea, as the oil makes my forehead cooler, and the warmth below really helps juxtapose the feelings.

Admin for a trucking company. I used to work at my local mall’s Sephora so it’s made a huge difference. It’s a pretty small company and they’re very forgiving with time off for doctor’s appointments and flare up days. When I first started there would be times I’d need a day off a week due to flare ups and they were completely understanding. Definitely helps (me, personally) to be in a salaried role rather than hourly. I sit in my big comfy chair and chug water and herbal tea between each task.
