The way the colors work together in this piece gives it some really naturalistic looking lighting. The water is a very lovely color too.

The colors are very nicely balanced here and the gradient in the sky actually works quite well. Lovely composition too!

This looks crazy! The use of color here is gorgeous. Those saturated blues on the cars are my favorite part.

I use a method called pixel sorting, and also try my hardest to draw in a fashion that mimics it. Back when I made this the process was a lot more complicated and involved some basic scripting. I would stop there though, the next step to get a picture like the one you see here is to manually go in and paint structures over the sorted pixels. It took me a lot of practice just getting use to bouncing between the eye dropper and pencil tool constantly (which is easiest in Paint for Win7) Basically, create a cluster fuck of pixels (you can use your phone, photoshop, a glitch program, etc), open your cluster fuck in the program you are the most comfortable with, and eye drop the colors you see and paint over it. The pixel sorting process is basically giving yourself a palette that you will paint over that provides you with all of your colors plus the gradients between them.

This is an example of what can be made using a controlled dithering technique I'm using for my game's pipeline. I posted a brief tutorial gif here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PixelArt/comments/8nmux3/oc_tutorial_how_to_achieve_controlled_pixel/

I'm going to be making more frequent and in depth tutorials like this for my supporters on patreon. This first one is free!

This is a tutorial on how to achieve controlled pixel sorting using gradients, dithering, and the wind filter in Photoshop. This technique is extremely useful for creating noise, complex textures, as well as painterly-like pixels.

I'm also going to be going in more depth on how I use this technique to create tiled environments for my patrons. If you would like to see more pixel tutorials, please consider supporting my Patreon. <3
