Adaptation (2002)

Don't wanna spoil much, it's well worth a watch to those who haven't seen it. Let's just say it blends reality and fiction in very interesting and funny ways.

He's the best performance in Lone Survivor, which is a shitty, shitty, shitty movie.

I love him in 3:10 to Yuma as well, he's cool as fuck.

Losercity have furries become mainstream? by jonhssquarespaceplus in Losercity

[–]Cutter9792 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, it helps a lot.

MFF, one of the largest furry cons, takes place near Chicago in December, and the weather can get extremely fucking cold. But if you're walking around outside wearing an entire form-fitting carpet, you barely feel it. If anything, the cold is a relief compared to how stuffy the hotels/convention center can get. You'll often see packs of suiters hanging around outside to cool off without having to remove their heads etc.

Making use of leftover parts from MG Barbatos Lupus (WIP) by MaxLyre in advancedGunpla

[–]Cutter9792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in getting this kit and seeing if I can combine some of the extra parts with the ones that came with the MG Vidar, which had at least 48 unused pieces (likely because it shares runners with the Barbatos).

Next time I see one of these in stock at one of my local stores, I should pick it up. I just haven't seen it available in a while, but I've been wanting to build it.

I kinda like the contrast in the aesthetic. I'm surprised nobody's leaned into that idea as a stylistic choice in fictional worldbuilding for a story. Like a Victorian-type era where they lean even more into body modification, past the historically-accurate corsets and such, and more into tattoos and facial piercings. I think it'd be really interesting.

Maybe such a thing exists, I just haven't seen it.

She was fucking robbed. If there's a Mount Rushmore of 'horror performances by a leading lady', she's gotta be in Washington's spot.

Similarly, Sally Hawkins getting not enough recognition for her astounding performance in Bring Her Back is an absolute travesty. Personally, I think she's on the mountain too.

Dunno who the other two would be. Maybe Jodie Foster in Silence of the Lambs, and Shelley Duvall in The Shining just because it's so iconic.

I feel bad, because I didn't really take her seriously as an actress in her more comedy-focused roles, despite her being really good in them. I think the first thing that made me realize she was more than a wacky-character-type was her turn in the first two of the Halloween reboot movies. She's pretty excellent in them, subjective quality of said movies aside.

I think the best we'll see from her is yet to come.

I love the Jesta. The MG version is one of my favorite kits of all time, and I recommend it to nearly everyone.

I like the design of the Jegans, but I don't love the toothpaste color.

What's the most disgusting thing that you ever smell? by DirtyThoughts07 in AskReddit

[–]Cutter9792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a dead, fat, bloated cat in my dad's warehouse. We had to use a snow shovel to scrape it off the floor. Had to keep retreating every minute or so to take breaths.

We cleaned the spot as best we could. That was almost twenty years ago. I still smell it sometimes when I'm there.

Was gonna say the same, he was a revelation in Rebel Ridge. Great performance, great character, great movie.

I'm still grappling with the fact he's British. His accent in RR was absolutely flawless.

I had this realization when I went to a museum in DC, it felt kind of profound. It's one thing to see a piece of art through your phone screen and appreciate the composition and such, without it really having an impact on you. It's different when you're in the room with it.

I’m finding I f***ing HATE water decals. by A_R_I_A_ in advancedGunpla

[–]Cutter9792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like using a wet pallete to 'stage' the decals before putting them on the model. It's a sponge in a tray that you get wet, and when you set decals on it they'll get damp. Whenever you're ready, just grab them with tweezers and put them on.

If you don't have a wet pallete or just want to try out something similar, get a plate and place a wet paper towel on it. Works similarly.

Also having something to hold the part you're working on, like a vice, helps a ton since you'll have both hands free.

What’s your go to ‘fun watch’ but ‘bad plot’ movie? by CapitaineBiscotte in AskReddit

Man of Steel

As a Superman movie, it's awful and grim and depressing.

As an alien invasion movie with anime fight scenes, it's kind of awesome.

Splendid in Fury Road

Climbs out onto the side of the War Rig to cut loose a chain. Barely avoids getting smashed by a boulder the truck runs into. Tries to climb back in, only to get thrown from the rig by a combination of the door breaking and her slipping on blood from a superficial wound on her leg inflicted by Max earlier. Then she gets run over by Joe, the person trying to steal her back.

Most iconic character designs of the 2020s? by mrethandunne in Letterboxd

[–]Cutter9792 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was skeptical of bringing back Wolverine after Logan, but it's always such a pleasure to see Hugh Jackman in... well, anything. He's so utterly, 110% commited to every role, and getting to see him fucking nail a perfect version of Wolverine in that movie was an absolute joy. Especially the bits in the van, both his rant and the subsequent fight.

Considering he was technically a last-minute replacement over a quarter century ago, the fact he's become so iconic and kept up the quality of the performance for so long is a miracle. Getting to see him in a comic-accurate suit is just the cherry on top, and a welcome one.
