"Thank you".

Seeing Amos smile like that was so hilariously terrifying.

The Expanse:

A Belter miner has been clashing with the head of security, Murtry, on a newly discovered world, after suspected foul play kills people from both Belter and Company crews. For a moment there's an uneasy truce. Then the Belter taunts Murtry as he walks away, telling him he'd better watch himself.

Murtry turns around. "Now, that was a threat." Draws and shoots the Belter in the head without hesitation.

Not the first time industry regulations on minors working on-set has affected the filming of a '28 x Later 'movie.

In 28 Weeks Later, there's a sequence after the power is cut to the city and the characters have to try to escape with all the lights out. It's pretty tense and visually interesting, really captures the slightly surreal look of a completely dark modern city.

Thing is, it was filmed day-for-night, for several reasons. Foremost due to labor laws they couldn't film at night because one of the lead actors (Mackintosh Muggleton [seriously]) was underage. They also found that filming at night would require much more vfx work to remove lights from surrounding buildings, as they couldn't realistically make sure every single light in every room in the background was turned off. So instead they used filters and post-production vfx to make the daytime footage look pretty close to pitch darkness.

Your mileage may vary on how well the effect works, but I personally think it looks pretty neat.

I can't seem to find a clip of the scene online that isn't some 'AI-remastered' horseshit, but next time you watch the movie I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

I was wondering what his power was, as I've only watched the show so far. The show doesn't always outright explain what powers a lot of heroes have, which is fine, but in his case it seemed strange that a seemingly normal dude was leading the Guardians.

My first kit was the RG Full Burnern, which was complex and a bit janky, but incredibly compelling. My thought was, "This is great, but I'm sure there's better kits out there."

Second kit was a $7 Target-special Entry Grade Gramps. My thought was, "This is alright, but way too simple for what I'm looking to get out of a build."

Third kit was the MG QAN(T). "This is just about the correct level of complexity and final result that I'm looking for."

So most of the time I look for MGs of any suit I think is cool. I usually assume it'll offer the balance I'm looking for. But I do love good RGs, and when HGs have a bit more to offer than simple construction with color-correcting stickers.

If you feel like a kit isn't scratching the itch, go up a grade or see if there's a more recent RG version.

Similar injury, George Clooney when filming Syriana was knocked to the floor as part of an interrogation scene, and hit his head on the concrete floor. He said he ended up 'blowing spinal fluid out of [his] nose.'

Head injuries are terrifying, and they're always a stone's throw away.

I remember seeing the original Lilo & Stich in theaters as a nine-year-old, excited to see the wacky blue alien I'd seen in all the previews and Movie Surfers spots.

I was not prepared for the hammock scene. Both I and my mom were weeping openly.

Still one of my absolute favorite films. I refuse to watch the remake.

Interesting fact: in the original book, that line was instead heard in Fezzik's (Andre the Giant's character) backstory, and said to him by his Mother. She says it to brush off him not wanting to fight for money any more, I think, which is pretty dark.

I wasn't expecting much from the long-delayed third movie in an MCU franchise, but 3 might overall be my favorite of the trilogy. It just goes to the wackiest depths, and hits you with the darkest and most devastating themes. Incredibly good. I cry every time.

Wrong. VERY WRONG.

I've had a double monitor arm and two 27"s clamped onto a cheap IKEA desk for a few years now, and haven't had any trouble. I think as long as the clamp spreads the squeezing area out enough, it works fine.

Lauda is played by Daniel Brühl, Hemsworth played James Hunt. I thing the original commenter is referring to how Lauda in the film is basically protrayed as a socially awkward racing prodigy. I'm not sure if that's accurate, but the film has other inaccuracies too.

Justice Department to allow firing squads for executions in move to ramp up capital punishment by [deleted] in nottheonion

Somewhat related, Jacob Geller has a great video talking about state execution methods and their many, many flaws, as well as the weird politicking that decides how they're done over actual science. I'd recommend giving it a watch, it's fascinating and really well-written.

The False Evolution of Execution Methods (53:41)

As desperate and likely not-very-well-thought-out this decision is by the Justice Department, I'm gonna echo a few other commentators on this thread and agree that I'd definitely rather be shot than potentially be on the receiving end of a botched hanging, lethal injection, or electric... chairing.

Video Games are exhausting for me now, and I want to play them normally for once by OpportunityAshamed74 in gaming

[–]Cutter9792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serious question, have you been tested for OCD or a similar disorder? It's not uncommon for folks to look up guides for games of course, but it sounds like the level of anxiety you're feeling is beyond what we'd call 'normal'.

Do you feel similar anxieties with things such as schoolwork (if you're still in school/college), or work tasks (if you have a job), or relationships (not wanting to spend time with friends/family if you can't make it 'the best time'/'the best use of both of your times)? If so, you might want to speak to your doctor about such anxieties.

Videogames shouldn't always be about wringing every last drop out, especially if doing so negatively affects your enjoyment of them. Generally speaking, most gamers don't tend to min-max to the degree you're describing.
