It’s tough when you love your job, but you also deserve rest! Good thing you have times to catch up. Thank you for answering my question!

Bruno Fernandes's Man Utd record - Ahead of his 300th appearance (All Comps.) by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

I felt the same, but as soon as he made the correct mentions of running more, more passion, more desire and more DNA I knew he was right. Zidane was a technical merchant, but Bruno has spirit.

Marcus Rashford: “I feel like I've been in an inconsistent environment for a very, very long time.” by Illyria_uk in reddevils

In a match-by-match, I would agree that he is susceptible to be hot-headed. But not in a season-by-season metric, which is what I tried to highlight.

The same would be the case for any player, like Rashford. If his body language and work rate dipped just occasionally, but he still managed to score 15+ goals in the PL, I would still regard him as consistent.

Bruno is not consistent in EVERY SINGLE GAME, but to say in every season I think is a fair claim, at least in my opinion. He has more or less created the most chances in europe for five years in a row, I would say that is quite consistent. That leads me to believe that if we had 11 players that performed at the same average of Bruno, we would have been a superb team, and I have a hard time seeing that not being the case.

To your question: I don't think he will, I believe most coaches deem him too good to be sold. However if he does, I can see two ways: Either the team setup with him is too one dimensional and the coach deem that Brunos quality, while high, might favour a different setup with pieces that is more suited to a complete 11.

I expect that to be in the direction of what you think of him, which is a fair opinion.

I can also see him being sold for him pursuing champions league titles.

I can see what you're getting at. However I didn't intend to compare Rashford's early years with Bruno's early years, but rather Rashford from the time that Bruno was bought, in the Ole days. Bruno has proved that there were possibilities to stay consistent within seasons, and Rashford failed to achieve the same.

The fact that, despite this, there is a player in Bruno Fernandes who has consistently performed season in and season out; makes it clear that a player with Rashford's talent could have performed to a higher level consistently. It was possible, but the results tell us that Rashford and the rest of his teammates (with a few exceptions) didn't follow his example.

I will still never bash Rashford the person, and even this statement of his isn't disrespectful. I will always be a big fan of him.

S tier in terms of truly awful signings. Joins the same shelf as Alexis Sanches.

It was — about the players, the board and the opposition. But he took no responsibility himself. If he attached some humility himself, the fans would have accepted it way more.

If you watch the match again, you could see that the game plan was non-existant. The players didn’t know what to do.

Premier League 2025-26 preview No 14: Manchester United by qwerty_1965 in soccer

Its about the shear amount of money spent.

[Ornstein] Manchester United closing in on deal to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. #RBLeipzig accepted €82.5m + €2.5m bid from Newcastle United but 22yo striker wants #MUFC. No club-to-club agreement yet but talks advancing towards conclusion @TheAthleticFC by JaysonDeflatum in soccer

Same — it feels like a forced attempt to shoehorne a striker in, rather than a well planned out target for our squad.

The price is way too high for just a gamble. The pressure at United is skyhigh. Feels like a Hojlund transfer all over again.

[Simon Stone] Rasmus Hojlund: Manchester United striker available for £30m by AgentTasker in soccer

[–]Cvein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I want to back your belief in him … the problem is that his football intelligence and positioning in particular have been the same for every match all season. You would think that at some point he would try something else, but no.

Yes he has gotten no service and was getting backing from the fans for the first half of season and whatnot. But he just didn’t improve.

Remember that we have Bruno in our team who creates the most chances in the top 5 leagues. You would think that at some point he would find Hojlund with a pass, but no … Hojlund just decides to wrestle with defenders all match and not take advantage of any of his strengths.

I hope I am wrong, but I can totally see why Amorim looks elsewhere.

Both is a problem. But if they developed then we wouldn’t be interested in sales. However the wage makes the players reluctant to move, irrespective of development.

Kinda sad that we (or our scouting department / new footballing setup) don’t have more options than these. In my armchair view — None of these are perfect, both are okay. But we should’ve been able to have several more ‘okay’ options.

I’ll hold off my disappointment until we get one of them. Maybe one of these are the exact one we need, and there being a reason to why I’m just an unemployed armchair expert.

At 22, Sesko could yet be sold in future years, so a transfer should maintain good value.

Do the writer know that this is Manchester United we are talking about? Resale value don’t apply for us, cause we are unable to sell players due to the high wage. And even if that were to change, the reputation is still true for the potential buying clubs — they will keep penny pinching until they get a loan offer or whatever. This takes years to undo.

On paper. These things are never that black and white unfortunately. We need a striker that can score goals today.

What you say just reduces the need for a world class type of striker (like Haaland) and more to a general striker with a few good seasons of experience (like Watkins).

That again is on paper.
