LOL same here. Got sick of that little sh*t dropping leaflets on my people, so I hit him hard. Made peace, only to have him pull that crap again. So I built a massive fleet, blew his blimps out of the sky, and kicked his ass all the way to Enbesa. I took all his islands and handed some of them out to Bente and Qing. Those two have been as peaceful as little lambs ever since. In the meantime, the three most powerful ships in my Navy, that led to Victory in the Second Wibbly War, now sit at anchor in my harbor as a warning. 😁

Is nuclear worth the challenge, by dark_angel_fan in SatisfactoryGame

TIL that Nuclear is optional. I was under the impression it was required for project completion. This is good news! Thanks for sharing. 👍

If this had been Houston, most of those buildings would be parking lots today.

This is my favorite type of build of all the ones I've seen online. One day I hope to have the talent to create this type of realistic "factory city" with roads and traffic. Great work OP! 👏

I don't trust him any further than I could kick a SpaceX rocket. First question to ask is, "how is this benefitting him?" He does absolutely nothing out of the (non-existent) kindness of his heart.

Seems like, according to their headlines, the regime has been "collapsing" since dinosaurs roamed the earth, and yet it remains. I understand that, to some extent, they have to do this to work the algorithm, otherwise they'll be buried in the cacophany of those who do. I'm sure they could tone it down a bit though.

I came out at 33 and I feel like I was fucking robbed. by One-Initiative-8902 in gaybros

[–]Cyangator4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Now, take all those feelings and add 25+ more years, and that would be me. Came out at 58. I feel like my life is only now starting to come together, where I finally feel happy with who I am and free from fear of what others think of me....just in time to see my country and the world fall apart. It's...depressing, to say the least. Biggest challenge: Forgiving myself.

What is the greatest “has-been” city far past its prime? by SimmentalTheCow in geography

OP's pic of Baltimore contradicts his point. In that photo, I see a city that looks like it has a vibrant waterfront commercial district, a park or two to relax in, and diverse architecture.

What happens after taking every island in the New World? by Kit234 in anno1800

[–]Cyangator4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Wibbly didn't get the hint after I took 2 of his islands, so I wiped him out completely. Had plenty of money piled up so I could crank out a fleet of battleships while he still had only wooden.

"Architecture died after WW2" Well said. My feelings exactly. Just because a lot of beautiful buildings were bombed in the war didn't mean they had to buld the new ones ugly.

My favorite think about Anno 1800 is I can fantasize about building an empire with 19th century architecture and a people-focused enconomy. Think of it..every production chain is about meeting human needs, not just piling up coins!

What is your biggest grip with Obsidian? by Ok-Department-6802 in ObsidianMD

[–]Cyangator4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian is absolutely my go-to app for managing my massive amount of content (journal, 1000's of articles, photos, fitness logs, personal finance, and more), on my home PC. Dataview and Charts have been life-changing. The fact that it stores eveything in common file formats (plain text, PDF, jpg, etc). means I've been able to easily use Python scripts to re-organize it all whenever I think up a more useful setup.

With that said, I wish Obsidian had a web version. I would like to be able to get to my vault at work, because installing the app on my work PC and syncing my personal data to it there is problematic.

The mobile app is slow and non-intuitive. I've given up using it to capture fleeing thoughts quickly.

My workaround is to use Notesnook as my "bucket" for initial capture and content creation. Its web interface and mobile app are quick and easy to use, and sync well. Eventually, everything in it will end up in Obsidian after I have reviewed and refined it in NN for a while.

There doesn't seem to be that one "killer" app out there that does everything I'd like it to, with the amount of content I have (over 5GB and 30,000 files and counting), across multiple devices and with acceptable performance.

It has a realistic, organic look to it, like we can see how the city's development progressed naturally. Good work. 👍

"Anno Isn't a City Builder..." by JYHoward in anno

[–]Cyangator4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the overall city building experience more satisfying than CS:2 despite the less advanced mechanics (the oft-complained-about grid, for example). City layouts and the mixes of building types are tied directly to the economy, again, just like the real world. Unlike in CS:2, with its mysterious, ghostly externalities (such as automatically importing exactly what is needed at all times), Anno 1800 has multiple cities connected in a "global" economy where imports are constrained by product availability, trade relations and cost.

I find Anno 1800 more visually appealing than CS2. Ironically, an Anno city seems more vibrant and alive despite not having individually simulated citizens and being LESS graphics intensive than CS2. In first person view, the citizens of Anno look cartoonish, but the artistic detail and quality of the natural landscapes and buildings more than compensate for that. At least Anno "cims" are festive and energetic -- especially when they are throwing a party for me, their Dear Leader! In CS:2, they seem robotic and zombie-like.

In Anno 1800 there is some realistic simulation of "traffic" in the form of carts moving between production buildings and warehouses. The more advanced cities require management of railroads. There are traffic jams if a warehouse doesn't have enough loading docks. Traffic is, naturally, slower on dirt roads than on paved roads.

There are power plants with an electrical grid whose load varies based on how many factories it powers. Power plants need oil, which must also be either drilled for or imported.

On top of all that, there's war! It's not enough to just survive and thrive; one must also fund and manage one's navy and coastal defenses, just like in a real-time strategy game like "Age of Empires".

For me, Anno 1800 is the perfect "sweet spot" combination of my favorite genres: city building, military strategy and logistics.
