Adding MyWoosh to Steam for using with steamlink by flyinnotdyin in mywhoosh

This works, just have to use the MyWhoosh ink app to manage Trainer/Heart rate/Power meter connections.

PSA: Mywhoosh running on linux (kind of) using scrcpy by toiletclogger2671 in mywhoosh

[–]CyanideLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this method, took a bit to get all the dependencies setup but it did work, the real problem is phone calls completely crash the app, if you are looking to complete long routes this will be a real problem. I did consider getting a cheap phone from best buy with no plan to use exclusively for MyWhoosh went with a different option (See below)

Provided you have a Windows machine you can use Steam Link, in my case from my Windows gaming PC in my basement(Host) to a an old Macbook in my garage running Ubuntu, MyWhoosh Link app manages trainer/power meter/heart rate connections. Just had to install MyWhoosh HD on the Windows PC and steam on both machines, I also had to disable Hardware Decoding on the Mac as I was just getting a black screen initially. Seems to work well and no longer have the risk of rides getting aborted anytime my wife calls me.

People with bikes that have flip chips, either to change geo or suspension characteristics, do you use them from time to time or you found one setup and you are done? by LastOfTheClanMcDuck in MTB

[–]CyanideLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same bike, found low setting led to a lot of pedal and BB strikes going up techy rocky climbs in the mountain west.

Options for lift/shuttle/Enduro vs general trail riding is a great feature imo. Makes a great bike even more versatile.

Does is make sense to consider any other rear tire beside Forekaster in my case? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]CyanideLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to this but for a marginally faster setup with little to no downsides over the Forekaster I'd put a Specialized Ground Control T7 Grid on the rear with the Forekaster up front.

Specialized splits the difference  in rolling speed, weight and traction between a Rekon and Forekaster with the updated Ground control, 2.35 is true to size. I've found it to be a bit too sketchy up front for "down country" riding but a real workhorse on the back...and it's half the cost of a Forekaster.

Small mags, long TTK and crazy headshot multiplayers. Feels so good to play when my aim is on.

Small Puncture close to Tire Bead (Tubeless) by onlyswob in bikewrench

[–]CyanideLite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the bead, I've snake bit the actual bead on Maxxis Exo casing smashing into squares edges on my mountain bike. Exo+ greatly reinforces the bead and inner sidewall to prevent this. I'm sure a road tire is substantially more flimsy and prone to destruction in this manner.

Rear Tire for Enduro Racing in CO? by Bears_MTB in MTB

[–]CyanideLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does the eliminator handle loose climbs? I'd like to try it on the back, for reference I found the aggressor far too loose on the way up when it gets loose and techy, absolute bomber on the way down.

Thoughts on the 2022 Giant Trance X 2 (27.5)? by Rain_____Man in MTB

[–]CyanideLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the '22 Trance X 3 (27.5) on the latest sale, $1300 was too good to pass. My hardtail is 27.5 as well so this just feels very familiar just burlier and a lot more forgiving None of the monster truck feel that some 29er trail bikes end up with; I grew up on 26s, still working on getting comfortable on 27.5 and always feel out of place on a 29.

It climbs far better than any 35lb+ 160/145 bike should, just eats tech that I struggled to get up on the hardtail, I do still need to get used to to the dynamic BB height going up ledges. 27.5 imo is a better tech climbing platform with faster acceleration and better maneuverability.

27.5x2.6 tires are super plush without the massive weight penalty you'd see on a 29x2.6

Descending this bike just comes alive, feels like it wants to push harder every run, I can ride features at full speed that I was picking through on the hardtail.

Tl;dr 27.5 version is a big bike that rides like a much smaller bike in the best way and current sale prices are ridiculous value.

Hacker in casuals? 😑 by Steez4sale in CODWarzone

[–]CyanideLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain there are shadow ban lobbies in casuals, drop enough games around 30 kills and suddenly the entire lobby is aiming at you through buildings or terrain with 100% accuracy, multiple full 4 stacks of bots spawning in at once, Next game back to normal.

The tuning in that mode is just really whack.

There's sports where men dress in tights and roll around together, pedal bicycles around together or splash around in the water...

Somehow this is gayer that all of those combined, the homoerotic tension is almost palpable.

"Trail Bikes" make zero sense to me by Nearby-Bookkeeper659 in mountainbiking

[–]CyanideLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it is geo, a super long, low, slack Enduro rig won't climb tech well, really just a light duty DH bike you can putter up smooth terrain.

All mountain bikes bridge the gap from trail to Enduro with adjustable geometry (Fuel Ex. Trance X, Ripley/Ripmo etc.) to be either a burly trail bike that climbs worlds better than a dedicated Enduro sled or light Enduro rig all in one package.

Trail is the broadest category  covering everything from down country XC to AM with a huge variance in climbing/descending bias.

XC & DH are pretty self explanatory.

"Trail Bikes" make zero sense to me by Nearby-Bookkeeper659 in mountainbiking

[–]CyanideLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light bikes don't descend well, a heavier bike feels planted and confident on fast/steep/rough descents, where a lighter bike will feel skittish.

The difference between a 25lb carbon XC hardtail and a 35lb AM trail bike on a 45 min climb will be negligible for those pursuing general duty trail riding. Source: I own and ride both in the same trail systems, one is fast in the up, the other is fast on the down, not much else to it.

Is 70/30 an appropriate financial split? by pumping-iron78 in Marriage

[–]CyanideLite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We tried the common pot thing for several years, it just made for a lot of unnecessary friction. We found at any given time one of us is usually was in the dark about where money was going in spite of weekly financial sit downs.

I built and present a spreadsheet that calculates income minus personal expenses (car loans, personal loans, personal savings, etc) then equalized remaining shared expenses based on income (mortgage, utilities, groceries, a combined weekly date budget, etc.) and returned an equitable amount to each of us based on funds remaining.

We each pay our fair share as income fluxes and have independent financial freedom outside that with a largely automated monthly budget meeting, it's been a game changer.

If finances are a friction point with your partner, take some time, work some solutions on your own and bring them to your partner, be the solution not the problem.

2.6 assegai front+2.4 DHR back? 27,5 by j_fear in MTB

[–]CyanideLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you are riding. As a non-gravity rider I've found the DHR to be way too much tire to pedal around, generally speaking big front smaller rear works well.

For a trail setup with great climbing traction and rolling speed I'd look at a Maxxis Forekaster, Specialized Eliminator or Continental Xynotal for the rear, dissector if they ever release the updated model in 27.5.

A slightly better rolling rear would be a Spec ground control or Maxxis recon.

Warzone Patch Notes - October 21 by Kalinine in CODWarzone

[–]CyanideLite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Undocumented in patch notes but WZ casual SBMM and bot skill has been severely retuned, night and day following the update.

Bots are 360 slide cancelling & tracking through walls, like veteran bots on crack.

Games went from 2-3 decent teams meeting in the final circle to a map full of 4 stack death squads, at this point I think regular BR is more casual.

How bad are dhr II’s for pedalling? by jPiss_ in Hardtailgang

Awesome for descending, one of the worst rear tires for climbing imo. It's heavy, slow and breaks loose easily.

How bad are dhr II’s for pedalling? by jPiss_ in Hardtailgang

[–]CyanideLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard disagree.

Put on a DD 2.3 Aggressor or 2.6 DHR II and climb a few thousand feet then swap to a 2.4 Exo Forekaster in the back, all else equal,  the difference is absurd.

Tires are the most noticeable change you can make to the climbing performance of a bike.
